VI. Read the following selections and summarize one. (10 points)
A. The Philippines has two seasons: (1) the wet or rainy and (2) the dry or sunny.
The amount of rainfall that a place receives in a year tells what kind of climate it
has. The country us considered to have four types of climate which depend on
the amount of rainfall the place receives all-year round.
Moreover, there are generally three kinds of wind that blow across the
country. They are named according to the direction from which they come. The
wind from the northeast monsoon, and the wind from the southwest is called
southeast monsoon. These three winds bring plenty of rain to the Philippines.
Wind that blows in from only one general direction is called monsoon.
B. Emilio Jacinto (1875-1899) was only nineteen when he joined the Katipunan in
1894. But Andres Bonifacio found him to be a brilliant and a brave companion.
He soon became one of the leaders of the Katipunan.
Jacinto wrote the Kartilla (Katipunan Promer). This primer contained wise
sayings of love of country and respect for women and children. It also explained
why the Filipinos had risen against Spain.
He also printed and published other materials about the Katipunan. That is
why he was called the Brains of the Katipunan. He died from a wound he
received in defending his country in Majayjay, Laguna. His life is an inspiring
story of a young man who gave up his life so that his nation might live.
