Remote Management Interface TCP/IP (10Mbit/s)

CHARACATERISTICS OF INPUT SIGNALS

The GNCD aims at amplifying and distributing a 2,048MHz or 2,048Mbit/s external
synchronisation reference signal.
Its input interface complies with the two following recommendations:
For the 2,048MHz : G703 10 75 or high impedance
For the 2,048Mbit/s : G703 6 75 or high impedance
Each input A and B can accept 2MHz or 2Mbit/s input signals.

1.2.

INPUT SWITCHING FUNCTION

2MHz or 2Mbit/s inputs of the GNCD are distributed through the backplane card to
amplification cards that plug in it.
For each input, control signals check signal presence and receiving level.
These control signals are generated by the micro-controller on the amplification card.
In normal operation mode, as soon as an input signal disappears, the card automatically will
switch to the input that is correct and the micro-controller will indicate an alarm on the faulty
input.
If you wish to work with only one input, you can force the use of one of both inputs; the
other input can then neither be used to provide the synchronisation reference, nor generate
alarms.
When both inputs can be used, it is possible to set a priority mode between both inputs.

1.3.

INPUT TYPE AUTOMATIC DETECTION FUNCTION

On each input, there is an automatic detection of the type of signal received.
The operator can force the type of each input with a configuration DIP switch. If the type of
signal detected does not match the forced type, an alarm is issued.
This information is processed by the micro-controller on the amplification card.

CHARACTERISTICS OF OUTPUT SIGNALS

Outputs can be configured according to one of both following types:
2,048MHz G703 10 option 75 .
2,048Mbit/s G703 6 option 75 .
The output type is chosen by the operator with a configuration DIP switch located on each
amplification card.
Outputs are valid according to the selected input type in the following way:

1.5.

SYNCHRONISATION OUTPUT CAPACITY

The output function is carried out by amplification cards. Each amplification card receives
two redundant external synchronisation inputs and distributes 8 outputs. Modularity for
outputs is 8.
There can be up to 10 amplification cards in the unit, i.e. up to 80 synchronisation outputs.
Assigning inputs and outputs is carried out as follows:
Inputs A or B

Cards 1 to 5

Outputs 1 to 40

Inputs A or B

Cards 6 to 10

Outputs 41 to 80

3.1.1. GNCD
Connection area: it contains connectors for the first 16 outputs, the 4 inputs,
power supplies and alarms. This area also includes two 37-pin SUB-D that allow
to connect two extension cases for connecting 32 outputs.
Card area: it can contain 10 amplification cards and the two -48V converter
cards.
It has a pivoting protective door that has, on front, signalling LEDs.
A card can not be plugged into a slot that is not designed for it by using a
foolproofing code.
Mechanical dimensions of the case are the following:
Height of basic rack
of extension rack
Width

450 mm.

Depth

280 mm.

: 323 mm.
: 200 mm.

The weight of the GNCD in its basic version with one converter card and 2
amplification cards is 11 kg.
The weight of the fully-configured GNCD, i.e. with 2 converter cards, 10
amplification cards, extension case and 2 connection cases, is 17 kg.

3.1.2. CONNECTION EXTENSION CASES

The GNCD can contain 2 connection extension cases that deliver output interfaces
on 1.6/5.6 female connectors. This type of connector has a thread according to
metrics that complies with standard CECC 22240.
These cases have to be fixed in the upper part of the GNCD.
Each extension case allows to connect 32 2,048MHz or 2,048Mbit/s outputs to the
equipment to be synchronised.
Adding one or two cases is needed when the number of required outputs is higher
than 16.
Left case:

For outputs 17 to 48

Right case:

For outputs 49 to 80

PROTECTIONS

Cards can be plugged when power is on as they feature the slow start system.
A card can not be plugged into a slot that is not designed for it as connectors have a foolproofing
code.
The equipment provides redundancy on external synchronisation inputs and on external -48V inputs
with automatic switching, optionally with redundancy 1+1 for power converter.
Also, losing a redundant component does not cause failures on the remaining components in the
system.
