Ancientorientalculturerestsonapsychologicalstructurethathasformedinverydifferentway
fromthatofwesternsociety.Thisphilosophyhasstilltoacertainpointfoundawaytoenterour
culture,perhapsbecauseitwasrespondingtotherestlessnessofaworldthathadfoundthatin
its"reality",inscientificprogressandinthecultofitsilluminatingways,thatneverthelessitwas
leavingpartofthehumanmindinthedarkandinanguish.
Of course, for the western mentality the concepts of reincarnation and Karma tied to previous
lives have assumed a meaning which sounds exotically fascinating, that is far away from what
theseconceptsactuallymean.Tounderstandthesemeaningsisverydifficultforourmentality,
and the risk is high of not grasping the real meaning. A lot of effort has been made in this
directioninrecentyears.

oftencompletelymisunderstood.And, in any case, the sense has not become attached to any

whythelifeofonepersonseembesiegedbytragiceventsandthatoneofsomeoneelseisfullof
opportunitiesandsuccesses.
To know the scheme developed by our past is used for us to simply see it, to show it, and to
understandhowtoconqueranewfreedom.
Itisnotatallobviouswhatthewordfreedommeans,thereforeweshoulddwellonthis.Freedom
in this field means to have gone out of the schemes which we find restrictive, to assume a
consciousnessofourvalueandourabilities,tobecomeresponsibleforourlifeandourdecisions,
toactivateourinternalstrengthtofollowpathsthatdifferentfromthosethathavealreadybeen
markedout.
If and when this will happen is not written in our natal chart, nevertheless it is a tool of
incalculablevaluetohelpusdownthispath.Ihavestrongdoubtsthatthisvalueisinidentifying
whowewereintheprecedinglives

,whileInoticecontinuouslyhowitshouldrepresentamapof
everythingthatwehaveinherited:ourselvesthroughtheexperiencesofthepast,ourfamilyand
ourenvironment,ourcountryandourculture,throughthebloodandthegeniiofourparents,
fromeverythingthat
indifferentlygivesusoursenseofbelonging,togetherwiththebestpart
ofourabilitiesoftencoveredbylayersofdeposits.
Myvisionofthemeaningofthenatalchartmightbeexplainedbymeinthisway:adepictionof
a magnetic field activated to our conception, structured during our gestation and fixed at the
momentofbirthonwhichenergiesareactivatedbyan"intelligent"memorythathasrecordedall
theevolutiveworkalreadycompletedinthepastinourexistence(thatwemightcompareto)
andthatknowsperfectlywell(usingsuperiortoolsthanthoseofourmind)whichareexperiences
usefultopursueourgrowth.
ThegreatopportunityofaKarmicinterpretationofthenatalchartinmyopinionrelatestothe
evolutiveworkthatitsuggests.Thereisnothingregardingtheideathatwegopassivelytoour
destiny,orevenoffightingbravelyagainstit

It would be crazy to think that we are omnipotent, and in fact humility is one of the positive
characteristics this work requires: the humility of recognising that the view of a connection
betweenpast,presentandfutureissomethingthatwecanonlylearnsymbolically,andnotin
therealandmaterialfacts.Whileitisintherealandmaterialfactsthattheresultsofeverything
that we have perceived becomes visible: filling our life with meaning does not mean it will go
moreslowly,butourenergieswillbeconcentratedmoreonourdevelopmentandinnerserenity.
Whetherwewillremaintrappedintheschemesfromthepastisnotwritteninthenatalchart
,whatiswritten,however,arethereasonsforthem,wecanunderstandwhichunsatisfiedneeds
and which wishes profoundly move us

conditioned by the energy scheme in which we are immersed, which often seems
to pull us

onedirectionoranother,aspartofaninfernalplan.Andtofindourown"centre"isthewayto
releaseourKarma.
Oneoftheopportunitieswehave,afterhavingbeguntounderstandourmap,isthatofworking
to transform the symbols. In order to overcome our blocks we will never mean becoming
completelydifferentfromwhatweare,butrathertodevelopanewabilityofexpressingwhatwe
areinadifferentway,transformingthelet
scallit"vibratory"leveloftheenergycontainedina
certainaspect.,If,forexampleourcharthasastrongPlutodominance,wewillratherobviously
tendtohaveacompulsivecharacter,toimposeourselvesbasedonpowerandtobeatthecentre

thatwillcertainlybeplentifulbutperhapsunknowntotheIbecauseit
hasnotbeenrecognisedandcultivatedinthefirstphasesoflife.
But this work on the blocks is a subsequent and different step from that of the work on our
consciousness that can be carried out with the help of Karmic astrology it is work that is
somehow or other therapeutic, that can help in recovering from our wounds and in the
developmentofgreaterfreewill.
