Christ mass
2006
We are fortunate, not lucky, but extremely fortunate to be farmers even hard bitten farmers in Australias climatic extremes - because we are
challenged to newly find, each day and hour, what we have to do. Nothing is
ever the same.
To so perform we have to a c t i v e l y look. Conventional farmers
have often lost this opportunity, especially when led by advisers from
chemical or fertiliser companies into stereotype and fixed applications of, for
instance: deeply destructive pre-emptive weedicides, which blow up plant
cells and eventually rob soil biology of organic matter for future humus
production; or of water soluble fertilisers which deeply interfere in Natures
wise organization of how plants (having no independent Warmth
metabolism) should incorporate elements, ie. only when Sun-Warmth enables
them to assimilate elements into their growth, so that falsely enforced
elemental uptake does not blow plant cells up with undesirable mineral salts
and compensating water1. All this increasingly so, because such farmers have
lost feel and knowledge of: soil and humus; of soil cultivation in place of soil
degradation; even of what a natural plant should look like.
My aim has been, as stated early on in my work nearly sixty years ago:
to aid those who chose to work with me, to observe and think biologically. I
insisted on highest quality Bio-Dynamic preparations; stirring2; storage and
application of preparations; soil preparation; pasture and general plant
management with grain, fruit or vegetable production; and so forth. I
objectively explain fundamental principles to professional men of the land,
so, once the sense of these principles easy to see by professionals was
understood, they could i n d i v i d u a l l y apply them to the situation of
their farm, climate, and type of production. I never told what to do. You
had to become the actively decisive ones.
After the first introductory lectures to some twelve or so farmers
organised by a Dutch born local cattle inseminator, who one day appeared
saying, challengingly, in disbelief: I am sick of hearing about you and have
come to take a look, (he eventually functioned as the first secretary of our
association) some of these farmers, typical for the common habit, suggested
to form an Association. All they had so far experienced were a few lectures
based on my experience of Bio-Dynamics and the results achieved on my
farm. I refused. Only after Bio-Dynamic work by them, making them contact
each other and me, ie. when a r e a l associating began, was the Bio-Dynamic
Agricultural Association of Australia (BDAAA) founded on living dynamic
a c t i v i t y. For membership there was only one fundamental requirement:
the intent to practice Bio-Dynamics professionally. All concerned were
professional commercial farmers, and eventually (from dire experience)

membership of the Association became restricted to professional farmers

only.
A separate, also nationwide, Bio-Dynamic organization for home
gardeners and hobby farmers eventuated later. Lectures to over 1200
enthusiasts in Melbourne were held in the early seventies. I eventually
suggested that only those, who attempted (according to the availability of
land and productivity - even pot plants) to grow produce for their families,
were to become members - which amounted to eighty-four.
The Constitution of the Association, as free as possible, catered for
minimal financial requirements. No other binding rules existed, which
could freeze life into whatever gradual bureaucracy take-over; no
important incorporations etc; actively seeking workers, dynamically
associating, learning from each other, myself included, and helping to train
new professional enquirers. Regarding the latter, the only system was
myself, knowing where our farmers were located, to direct new ones to the
nearest Association member of experience in similar production.
No one can intimately know all production types, especially in a
country from snow to tropics. But I could aid a paw-paw or banana grower
how to, individually, incorporate the Bio-Dynamic Method whilst learning
from him whatever little of the expertise of his production requirements and
practices, which could become of benefit to future enquirers. A
fundamentally important exchange.
One, absolute breath giving, reality of our extending work was, that
money did not come into it. I had my own little farm supplying enough
Melbourne milk to help rear seven children. It was possible to milk very
early, lecture hours distant, return and milk. The cows co-operated. Help
came one way or other as expansion eventuated. Undoubtedly some
hardship was caused to my wife and family, but she was, essentially, with me.
The well known problem: task and/or family. My admiration grows with
age. What a mother and educator by example.
To w o r k with Australian farmers as described is, humanly,
relatively easy, as they are much less influenced by old cultural habits, but are
of o b j e c t i v l y open consciousness, realistic to the need of income, yet,
with quality production foremost - not greed for money, and, confident, to
listen unhindered by pride of Self.
Vital to the health of such living Association activity is that every
enquiring farmer a s k s independently, ie without being influenced by the
success of an acquaintance (even if he knows of such), relative or, especially
by any kind of ideology. Equally, of course, there must be no influence or
promotion, even hope for new enquirers by members of the Association,
just presentation of facts and insight into Bio-Dynamic w o r k - based on
individual experience and Bio-Dynamic results.
With farmers this can happen. They live simple and close to Creation work in it.
The infinitely major task is to search and find how the dynamic life of
an originally purposeful impulse can be kept going. Throughout history great
impulse bearers caused movement, which stifled into organisational
bureaucracy long before that impulse should have been metamorphosed or
2

replaced by a newer impulse. Inevitably the original co-operators of an

impulse bearer with generational changes - become less and less co-workers,
and more and more adherents, following principles of a system, which
ideally was to be kept to. Philosophical or Spiritual Schools of
Knowledge confining followers to a re-cognising of existing knowledge or
doctrine; preventing exploration of the impossibly unexpectable NEW; being
bound into a system of following a leader, bearing jealousy, and suffering
moralising. Goethe, Shakespeare, Tolstoy acted as individuals, however
powerful of influence, and left individual, independent readers free to absorb
as they required.
Throughout the ages the major religions had, and have, a great and
absolutely necessary influence on mankind. Man needs a God without dire
psychological repercussions occurring. Furthermore religious institutions
have raised culture. Early monasteries developed agri-culture, learning, art
in the East as in the West.
In modern times the influence of traditional churches is waning, as
attendance figures show, whilst religious fervour of newer religions or sects
increases. On the other hand a veritably targeted influence of materialism has
taken over. The r e a l value of: soil; assets; productive capacity - have
become encapsulated in a very powerful environment of un-reality: share
values; stock exchanges; hypotheticals of finance, able to break the real value
of a countrys currency and its assets. Paper replacing gold; purchase on
hire; and eventually credit card purchases, where hypothetical money is
minted by buying on credit; and the debtors interest burden becomes a
political tool.
Media, especially TV and internet, with their ever developing
additions - software - make for un-reality of mans environment.
It is no longer a matter of a few getting richer and richer and the
masses getting poorer. It is a matter of mankind being more enslaved than
ever before in history. This includes that all but very few are beset by fear of:
losing a job; insecurity of income, position, advancement; even tycoons, of
investing wrongly; or being frightened of dying, old age, sickness;
committing suicide - to get away from pressures. Everyone has to abide by
the rules and bureaucracy of institutions, Government, corporations, even
religious denominations. Individual thought and expression stifled,
discouraged or prohibited.
Science, once a subject of Objective Knowledge, has become
mechanistic3. In place of a real observation, an un-real working hypothesis.
In place of a knowledgeable concept, statistical evidence4. Thalidomides
side-effects, or those of so many medications or agricultural chemicals
unpredictable; Genetic Modifications interfering, maybe disastrously into the
future, making r e a l Creation hypothetical; cloning and worse, nanotechnology. To keep up with modernity, Governments allocate

under the influence (Fear) of un-real bureaucrat scientists lacking practical
experience. Real scientists denied free expression (Fear).excetera.
New computer (TV) designs will fill every hour of mans wakeness
and designs plan to target even the sleeping hours. Watching sport (semiwar) is more and more colosseum like, with beating fists of victors. Means
exist (to Governments) to put the entire population of cities to a temporary
sleep. Expensive promotion because of over-supply. Work place transfer
to third world countries with cheap labour as a very temporary solution.
Man living not only in the unreal world of TV based pictures and
sound, but also of mass supplied food produced un-naturally, forced to
work in air conditioned, polluting high rise cubes elevated from Earth with
marvellous view, and enveloped in synthetic fibre of, as yet, un-questioned
effect on health.
Due to my agricultural and some other work input, I have become
known and even appreciated as some response would indicate. My writing
describes reality as living and pictorial, as it was seen, and with as much
understanding as possible at the time. Regarding especially the latter, I have
sought more and more as to what I found myself and to what degree I
received help. In the second half of Ad Humanitatem indirect hints
indicate. But if I look back to even before my first agricultural lectures, to
what impulsed me (then regarded a cultural European) to Nature and
agriculture - dirty hands and sweat right from earliest childhood (and how
powerful were attempts to stop me, even up to this day, requiring strength to
continue), I must question, whilst aware of invisible guidance and help.
There is no inspiration without someone inspiring.
In one of my lectures I report how during an early agricultural lecture
[whilst livingly but conceptually describing that plants are not just made up
of material substance, but would not exist without the Sun, being more
children of the Sun than of material], absolutely unexpected, suddenly,
between the farmers sitting in front of me and myself, appeared a see through
image of a total plant in motion of activities from root-tip and soil life,
involving juices in every fiber of plant and leaf, whilst Cosmic Sun activity
streamed into the plant and interacted. This happening, finally, became the
scientifically unquestionable reality of how a plant should nourish from
humus under jurisdiction of the Sun, as the Sun provides the necessary
Warmth without which a plant can not assimilate any mineral-element-salt
intake. Then, over years and decades, every agricultural insight reported in
my lectures happened.
I was called gifted, also in educational, artistic and architectural
work. Where does such come from?
Sometimes the next task did not arise out of the growing awareness of
a need-of-the-time. The latter contributing to much of agricultural
developments and tasks, also in other parts of the globe. Important tasks or
4

insights were dictated in content, even in lit script, appearing before me.
(Many Wakeups per night, with content or clearer expression.)
I could accept giftedness as own supply of the skill for the
wherewithal to actually complete a task, but had to clearly distinguish this
capacity from the given impulse and content. A clear example was the design
of the theatre hall for the Melbourne Steiner School.
The kindergarten building, described in importance adequately in the
Kindergarten Lecture5 [where, upon entering, the great Swedish artist,
architect and cultural educationist Arne Klingborg loudly expressed with
expanded arms, not even the floor is level. (The only one to independently
notice this.)], existed, as did class rooms 1 to 8, and the Eurythmy complex.
(Later additions further down are not to my design.)
Romanic Churches are heavy and stand on solid ground. Gothic
Churches stand on the same ground, but rise powerfully upwards (Freiburg
Cathedral Tower). JS Bachs main fugues remind. Greek temples just touch
the ground, and appear floating and light. Exact Roman copies are heavy.
The Romans did not notice that the floor of Greek temples were not level, but
tensioned by being higher at the centre whereas the Roman temple copies
were level floored.
Regarding the school theatre I was told that this massive building
had to float. Disagreeably realising that the one year mucking around
curiously with attempted designs was useless - finally w a i t i n g for the
pre-embryonic process required for any creativeness and, importantly,
providing time for doing nothing (sometimes even painful, depending on
temperament, causing from furore to depression). I discovered myself,
clearly, far far away from Earth in an area of Concentrations, here and there
streaming with Music, maybe not identical, but definitely of the spirituality of
Bachs last cycle of Fugues (Art of the Fugue). Only thereafter did I become
aware that these Fugues do not rise powerfully as does the early D-minor, but
float each on its own. The fundament was built and finance was available,
but my time as founder of this school was cut short, and so was the altered
building. The kindergarten also lost to cheap paint and a kitchen inserted into
the main space. Ditto colouring of classrooms and Eurythmy room, where the
unique acoustic could not be interfered with (all buildings originally painted
by myself). Unfortunately, architecture can be subject to alteration.
In early childhood Mozart heard an important choir and was able to
write down the music accurately. He had to have a totality Image Capacity to
so do. Wherefrom may he have drawn his inspiring and incredible volume of
music not a note too much or missing.
There are reports of people resuscitated after drowning, speaking of
beautiful music. My twin sister at six told of such after her bather straps
unhooked from a root in the river Thames.
On medieval churches groups of angels make music on instruments.
The Brandenburg concertos, as played by the Cantorum Basilienses ensemble,

Matter is not the only reality on Earth, despite inclinations of current

materialistic assumptions, which have infact, widely, become un-real. And
counter unreal have become the all too idealistic attempts to smooth-over,
and bring-together - Antipodes.
Aface of the endangering conflict between Judaism, Christianity and
Mohammedism, a modern Christian church called a meeting of priests
representing the three religions. A report by the Christian representative
appeared, maybe slightly fervoured, that unanimity was achieved regarding
all three religions being mono-deistic.
A mono-deistic religion will have laws, however wise, moral and
uplifting, which have to be obeyed. Mono-deism existed according to the old
testament. With Christ, Trinity arose. Three equal Godheads, separate, and
as one. As illogical as the Analogia Entis, God is like man, but man is not
equal to God. Both foundations of Christianity.
It is improper for another religion to interpret Christ and the Holy
Spirit as being servants of God. At the School of Chartres, Alanus ab Insulis, a
Will being and Doer as much or little as his time permitted, equally of
Platonic insight as of Aristotelian methodicity, battled, with the reality and
purpose of Trinity. [Legend often retaining life and content better than
history based on documents. I had to experience this a bit in my lifetime,
when journalists dated lectures according to when first documented and
published, although they were originally given decades earlier.]
Christ appeared when mono-deism reigned. Already his announcer,
John the Baptist, alarmed with powerful unruliness. Jesus authority threw
the money lenders out of the temple. He just acted, unexpectably and
unconformingly, contradicting religious habituality and the Pharisees. Christ
opened to mankind the developmental possibility of not obeying a fixed
doctrine but of struggling to gradually search and, maybe, find, how to
become an Individual, and to act morally, according to independent insight.
This possibility is of course deeply fraught during development with the
chance of egotism, self satisfaction and self gratification, but it offers a chance
to freedom - of individuality not being hobbled by bureaucratic
institutionalism. Faust could remain on an evolutionary path as long as he
did not give in to the alluring temptations of Mephistopheles. Once he would
accept the alluring, or the safety of fixture he would lose out.
But the Creator and Christ are only two of three. For development of
Individuality, the Holy Spirit is of equal importance. After the Crucifixion,
Christ appeared to the disciples in an etheric form until Ascension. For ten
days they were then in gravest despair. Pentecost provided the chance to
reach a Being which never existed in the physical. Reaching out beyond
existing capacity without there being a physical hand to grasp like child to
mother - not being fixed to the safe physical; summoning with
unexpectedly new power and making r e a l contact with, and aided by, a
Spiritual Being, only then provides the new chance. The artistry of
Michelangelo portrays such expression with Adams and Gods hands.
Only an Individual can muster the strength to do this - as it makes the
Individual. This chance is provided by the Trinity.
6

Christs actions, throughout, enacted the most unexpectably impossible

or the most impossibly unexpectable. No Luciferic egotism, or
Mephistophelian conformity. Maybe R. Steiners most important
contribution to Mankind is e v i d e n c e d in his Gospel lectures: from Jesus
to Christ.
Religiosity is essential to mankind throughout evolution. But it must
always be a challenge and not become institutionalised or of super fervour.
The Jewish, Mohammedan and Christian priests could not really act
independently of the religion they represented. They were caught, as are the
managers of corporations or Government bureaucrats, and h a v e to remain
tied to the expectations and ideology of religions and their adherents. To
r e a l l y meet and deliberate, they would have to be as o p e n to the others
religions so as to be able to represent them as their own. Maybe Ghandi
would have been able to.
Each of these priests believes in his God, and therewith not only
represents his God, but is fixed into ownership of his God. Fervourency.
We can ask how Christ would act in the situation of one of these priests.
Would he conform to the ideology of any system? For Christ to be present
today when two or more meet, absolute o b j e c t i v e consciousness would
have to reign. Open for all to the unexpectably impossible, and in open
environment.
Today new buildings or Mystery Centres would be retarding.
Even in the physical world nothing ever vanishes, it just changes.
The primitive materialistic acceptance that a dead person has vanished as a
being is countered by the wisdom of language: here lies his body
indicative that he still exists somewhere. There is no evidence that
meaningful further existence, like with Christ, is not available to man
generally. In the latter half of Ad Humanitatem this is referenced.
In present times, major problems are:
Loss of Religiosity
Money materialism POWER
Commercialised sex POWER
Government and Corporation - PRESSURE
Denominational or Sectarian fervour.
Pope John Paul II acted unexpectably - impossibly in visiting historic
areas of earlier Catholic Church Power driven misdeeds, praying for
forgiveness. Real Christian Actions.
Today, an increasing number find themselves placed to have to seek
their spiritual or religious needs independently.
7

Paul could be seen as the first independent Christian Individuality. An

opponent of Christ, no church, no priest. An etheric appearance of a Light
Being, which speaks to the important individuality Paul, who then becomes,
maybe, the most powerful activator.
There are increasing reports of people in direst need, or heavily fixed in
materialism, who are visited by a Light Being - even witnessing a face able to
change to various penetrating expressions; building understanding;
principally encouraging to become powerful aids to mankind.
This experience, by some identified with Paul and Christ, by others as a
Being of Light some considering themselves Christians, others, of any other
Religion or having been a-religious. They individually witness a Light
Being, a Spiritual Being, and as such, unaligned, and unalignable, to any
religious denomination. The Christ active today and how could such Being
ever not be active as a Spirit Being - can not be owned by any institution. He
is concerned for mankind, for evolution, and for every Individual. It is
absolutely possible that a Mohammedon or a Jew is more individually
Christian than a Christian priest who is bound into to the expectations of his
Institution.
A real Christian is one who acts impossibly unexpectable or
unexpectably impossible - c r e a t i n g l y.
