Preparation and setting up of the Venue:
The facilitator checks if the venue is available for the session, consider if the furniture (chairs
and tables) is suitable for the targeted students, whether room can accommodate the targeted
number of leaners. The facilitator also makes sure that there is safe power supply, consider
whether the lights are working and lastly the room has to be clean and well ventilated. The
seating arrangement that will be used is a seating arrangement that will allow learners to be in
groups for discussion whereby groups are facing each other, with some desk for the judges and
some seats for the audience.
Preparation of learning resources/materials:
The facilitator makes sure that clear pictures, quality audio speakers, information sheets and
assessment instrument are availed for the session; multimedia PowerPoint slides are to be
prepared for the session. A set of questions in the form of a quiz is availed to students to assess
their understanding. The facilitator makes sure that multimedia projector is working and there is
safe power supply in the room.

Health and safety aspects to consider:
Before the room can be used it has to be tidy, if there are some furniture lying around appropriate
action is taken to make sure that the room is safe. The room also has to be well ventilated, dust
free, and the facilitator considers if there are no hazards around the room, like falling ceiling or
lamps.
