INTRODUCTION
Purpose
This manual explains how to install, and how to use Samsung Next Open Workspace
(SNOW), which performs the operational interface function of CDMA2000 MSC
system.

SNOW operates on PC that is connected to Ethernet. PC for SNOW and MSC are
connected as shown in Figure 1.1.

PC (SNOW)
IOServer operates on NETRA 1120 Work Station, which is located within Mediation
Device Rack(MDR). IOServer can connect the maximum of 20 PCs for SNOW.
PC for SNOW interfaces with IOServer through TCP/IP, and IOServer interfaces to
the MSC through RS-422.

Select Server Address on the SNOW login screen, and enter user ID and password.
IOServers that are already registered will show up from Server Address and the user
can select one of IOServers to be connected. The registration and deletion of
IOServer will be performed on the Config Screen.

deletion of IOServer.

User ID and Password are ID and password of a user registered at IOServer. They
shall be composed of more than 4 and less than 10 English characters or numbers.
Refer to 1.2.2 User ID Register/Delete for the details of registration and
deletion of User ID.
The Config Screen is composed of IOServer Address Editing Field, Apply button,
and Cancel button.
IOServer Address Editing Field
IOServer Address Editing Field is a space for entering the name and address of
IOServer to be registered. On the first row, enter the name of IOServer and, on the
second row, enter the address of IOServer.

The name of IOServer entered on the first row will show up in the Server Address
combo box of SNOW Login Screen.

Apply Button
The Apply button is used when applying the contents entered at IOServer Address
Editing Field to the server address combo box of SNOW Login Screen and
c:\snow\ini\serveraddr.txt file.
Cancel Button
The Cancel button is used when ignoring the contents entered at IOServer Address
Editing Field and bringing back the existing contents of c:\snow\ini\serveraddr.txt
file.
The Operator Management Window is composed of Operators list field, Action field,
and Status field.

Status Field
The Status field indicates the status of action, which performed on the Operator
Management Window.
1.2.2.1 User ID Registration
When the Add button is selected on the Operator Management Window, the
following AddOperator Window will show up.
From the AddOperator Window, select ID, password, level of a user to be registered,

To the Operator Name Field, enter the ID of a user to be registered. The User ID shall
be more than 4 and less than 10 English characters and numbers. It starts with an
English character.
Password Field
To the Password Field, enter the password of a relevant user. The Password shall be
more than 4 and less than 12 English characters and numbers.

Confirm Field
To the Confirm Field, enter the password that was typed in the Password Field one
more time.
Class Field
To the Valid IP Address Field, enter the IP address that is accessible to a user to be
registered. Up to three IP addresses can be entered.
If the values are not registered to the Valid IP Address Field, the user to be registered
can access every IP.
OK Button
The OK button is selected when querying the user ID entered at the AddOperator
Window.

The Cmd Input Window is composed of Cmd History List Field, Cmd Input Field,
and Macro Button.
Cmd History List Field
Cmd Input
Fieldcommands up to 50.
The Cmd History List Field indicates the recently performed
MMC
If the performed MMC command exceeds 50, the first 5 commands shall be deleted.

The MMC command could be performed at the Cmd History List Field. If a specific
command is clicked once at the Cmd History List Field, that command will be
indicated at the Cmd Input Field, and when it is double-clicked, the relevant
command is executed.

At the Cmd Input Field, the MMC command is entered and executed.
The Cmd Input Field provides additional functions as follows.
When !! is entered : it calls for the most recently entered MMC
command.
When !xxx is entered : it calls for the most recently entered MMC
command including xxx.
When Up/Down arrow keys are used : it finds the previously entered
MMC command in a sequential order.
Macro Button
The Macro Button registers the frequently used MMC commands in advance.
There are two methods for registering MMC commands as follows.
On the Macro Button to register, click the right button of a mouse to
generate an input window. Enter the relevant MMC command on the input
window.
Select the Macro Edit tab on the Space Window and register at the Macro
Edit Window.
Refer to 2.1.4 Macro Edit Window for the details of Macro Edit Window.

The Cmd Search Window provides the command search, parameter input and
command execution functions.
The Cmd Search Window is composed of Large & Middle Field, Search Command
Field, Small Catalogue Field, and Parameter Panel.
Large & Middle Fields
The Large & Middle Fields classify the MMC commands into a large and middle
fields, and arrange them in a tree structure. Only a large field is indicated on the
initial screen, and if this large field is clicked, the middle field will be indicated.
Search Command Field
The Search Command Field executes the search command function, and this field is
composed of the Command input area and Command Reference Number(CRN)
indicator.
The Search Command Field executes one search per one character, and the search
result is indicated in the Small Catalogue Field.

The Small Catalogue Field indicates a command included in the middle field when
the middle field is selected from the Large & Middle Fields. It also indicates the
relevant command when a command is entered in the Search Command Field. If a
command indicated in the Small Catalogue Field is selected, the relevant command
information and parameter will be indicated on the Parameter Panel.
Parameter Panel
The Parameter Panel is composed of the selected command field, description field for
the relevant command, and select/input field for the parameters of command.
The Cmd Batch Window can create and save a repeating execution command list. It
can also retrieve the command list from existing batch files.
The Cmd Batch Window is composed of File/Edit Field, Command List Field, and
Batch Job Field.

File/Edit Field
The Command List Field is composed of a field that indicates the command list of
batch files, and MMC Input Field that adds a command to the relevant batch file.
The methods to indicate a command on the command list window are to use the Load
Button of File/Edit Field, and to directly input a MMC command in the MMC Input
Field.
To the MMC Input Field, information in the relation to the MMC command to be
added to the command list shall be entered and selected as follows.
Index : Enters an integer that indicates the order of commands to be added.
If the index value is not entered, the relevant command will be added at the end
of command list.
Interval : Enters the time interval between current command and the next
command when executing a command.
ADD Button : Adds the currently entered command to the Command List.

The Batch Job Field enters and selects the following information in order to set up
the start/end times and pause function of the specific batch job.
Start Time : Enters the start time of Batch Job.
End Time : Enters the end time of Batch Job.
Interval : Enters the interval of command executions. If this field has a
fixed value, the interval value set upon each command input will be ignored.
Iteration : Enters the number of times the Batch Job performed repeatedly.
Batch Start/Batch Stop Button : Batch Start/Batch Stop Buttons are the
toggle buttons, which can start or cancel the Batch Job.
Progress Bar & Progress Field : Indicates the progress of Batch Job.
The Macro Edit function carries out the Cmd Input function of SPACE Window and,
registers the MMC command to the Macro Button of Window.

The Macro Edit Window is composed of Menu Field and Edit Field.
Menu Field
Edit Field
In the Edit Field, the Macro file is edited by the following two methods.

Retrieve and edit the Macro file using the File Load Button of Menu Field.
Enter a command directly in the Edit Field.
The System Message Output Window shows up to 1,500 lines, and when it exceeds
1,500 lines, the 500 lines of previous messages are deleted.

Copy & paste function : Selects and copy a specific area from the Message
Output Window and pastes that copied area into another area.

The MMC Output Window shows up to 1,500 lines, and when it exceeds 1,500 lines,
the 500 lines of previous messages are deleted.
The MMC Output Window provides additional functions as follows.
Scroll Lock function : If you double click the left button of a mouse on the
Message Output Window, the screen scroll will be locked. In this locked status,
if you double click the left button of a mouse again, the scroll lock function will

be canceled.
Copy & paste function : Selects and copy a specific area from the Message
Output Window and pastes that copied area into another area.

The login sub menu provides the function of logging to SNOW. If you are already
logged in SNOW, the login sub menu is in deactivated status.

The logout sub menu provides the function of logging out from SNOW.

The Schedule Manager Window is composed of MMC Input Field, MMC List Edit
Field, Schedule File List Field, and Status Field.
3.2.1.1 MMC Input Field
In the MMC Input Field, enters the MMC command that is to be added to the MMC
command list.
The MMC Input Field is composed of MMC input sub-field, Parameter sub-field,

In the MMC input sub-field, enters the MMC command that is to be added to the
MMC command list. After inputting the MMC command, press the enter key. Then,
the relevant command is indicated in the Parameter sub-Field.
The OK button is used when adding the MMC command, which satisfies conditions
for both Parameter sub-Field and Iteration sub-Field, to the MMC command list.
Parameter Sub-Field
The Parameter sub-Field shows the parameter of command inputted in the MMC
input sub-Field.
Iteration Sub-Field
The MMC List sub-Field shows the MMC command list including MMC command

The Start & End Time sub-Field sets up the start & end time of MMC command list.
When entering the execution time of MMC command list, up to two values can be
entered for the year, and up to 4 values for the rest(month/day/time/minute).
Delete Button
The Delete Button is used for deleting a specific MMC command from the MMC
List sub-Field.
Delete ALL Button
The Delete ALL Button is used for deleting all MMC commands from the MMC List
sub-Field.
SAVE Button
The SAVE Button is used for saving the contents of MMC List sub-Field. If the
SAVE button is clicked, a window pops up and asks the file name to save. If the
saved file exceeds 5 files, inputting is prohibited. In this case, delete the existing file
from the Schedule File List Field and save again.
CLOSE Button
The CLOSE button is used for closing the Schedule Manager Window. Even if the
Schedule Manager Window is closed, the registered schedule file is normally
executed on the set time.
3.2.1.3 Schedule File List Field
The Schedule File List Field shows the Schedule files registered at each port and
modifies them.
The Schedule File List Field is composed of Search Schedule File sub-Field and
Command List sub-Field.

The Search Schedule File sub-Field can query the schedule file registered at each port
by their state, or delete the registered schedule file.
Command List Sub-Field
The Command List sub-Field shows the MMC command list of schedule file selected
in the Search Schedule File sub-Field.
The Edit button is used for editing the schedule by copying the MMC command
selected in the Command List sub-Field into the MMC List sub-Field.
3.2.1.4 Status Field
The Status Field shows the state of scheduling work that is being processed on the
Schedule Manager Window.

The Log Management Window is composed of Output Field, Log Catalogue Field,
Start Time & End Time Field, Cmd I/O & Login History Field, System Message
Field, Pattern Field, OK button, Close button, and Help button.

The Graphic Main Window shows the number of currently generated H/W alarms and
S/W alarms, the number of call trials, the number of call successions and process
overload. Also, the Graphic Main Window is composed of three buttons to provide
the details of error, statistics, and IP/OP port.
3.3.1.1 Error Button
When the Error button is clicked, the following Alarm Status Window will show up,
which shows the H/W error state and details of S/W error for each sub system.

Enter the Relation Name or Relation ID to ask in the RELATION NAME Field. After
inputting the Relation Name or Relation ID in the RELATION NAME Field, click
the OK button or Enter key. Then, the attributes of the specific relation are shown
on the Right Panel.
If the operator cant remember the Relation Name correctly, it can be queried from
Small Catalogue and selected.
Access cmd Field
Select the data manipulation language to execute, in the Access cmd Field.
The DBQuery Window provides the data manipulation languages such as
SELECT/UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE/MAXI/MINI/COUNT/SUM/AVG.
Processor Field

The OPTION Field is effective only when SELECT or UPDATE is selected from the
Access cmd Field. It provides the selectable categories for each command as follows.

The RELATION INFORMATION Field shows information for the specific Relation
as follows.
ID : Relation ID(0 ~ 355)
TYPE : Relation Type(MEM/DKB)
LOC : Relation Location(NOR/REP/DIS/LOC)
Local Processor : Relation that exists in the specific processor. If the
processor uses replicated data, it has the specific relation data as a local
processor.
The DOMAIN INFORMATION Field shows the following information for the
attributes selected at the Right Panel.
The OK Button does same functions as selecting the Relation Name and clicking
the Enter key. If the Access command is selected, the name of OK button is changed
to the relevant command.
If the Access cmd button is clicked, the answers to the selected questions will show
up in the Right Panel.
CLEAR Button
The CLEAR button is used for deleting the specific Domain values in bulk after

The NEXT button is used when SELECT is executed among other data manipulation
languages, and then the Tuple value is requested. The NEXT button executes same
function as IN SEQ of OPTION Field.

The Input Command Field displays the query coming from the DBQuery Window in
text format.
Response Field
The Right Panel shows the attributes of the relation selected in the RELATION
NAME Field and shows the result values for the queries from an operator.

When the Help submenu is clicked, it connects to Internet explorer that can read
COD/POD. Since COD/POD documents are written in MS word, PC for SNOW
shall have the MS word viewer installed.

The .DAT DownLoad Submenu executes function of downloading the .DAT file of
OMP Disk to IOServer.
The .DAT DownLoad function can be executed only by the ROOT User.
SNOW Update Submenu
The SNOW Update Submenu executes SNOW updating function. After executing the
SNOW Update, restart SNOW.

Select the message to script in the Msg Script Filename Manager Window and, if
necessary, enter the file name to save the specific message. If the file name is not
entered, the system automatically creates file names as the following method.

4.5 Scheduling
The MMC Command Scheduling is executed on the Schedule Mgr Sub menu of
SNOW Administration menu.
Refer to 3.2.1 Schedule Mgr Sub menu for more details.
The created schedule file is saved in the External Interface Processor(EIP) DB.
4.6 Logging
The Logging is executed on the Log Sub menu of SNOW Administration menu.
Refer to 3.2.2 Log Sub menu for more details.
4.7 DBQuery
The DBQuery is executed on the Query Win Sub menu of SNOW Maintenance
menu.
