A world without teachers? We are not prepared yet!

Whether you like it or not, the technology is in full expansion and all the fields have
been more or less affected by it. Even the educational one. The Internet comprises today
databases related to any technique of learning, enabling one to find there an amount of
knowledge greater than any human mind can contain. Apparently, we can learn at home
notions that are nowadays taught in school, we can even focus only on matters of great
interest for us. However, has the traditional way of learning lost all its appeal?
To begin with, I believe that, although the future of mankind seems to point in a
different direction, the school system is still viable and I would like to explain briefly the
reasons for my statement.
Firstly, the delusion that we evolve and develop ourselves via the Internet without
the help of the supervisors, can be seem as a regress on account of the fact that provided an
immature teenager is left alone, he is going to find, obviously, more important issues to
solve than those concerning his lack of knowledge. For example, we all figured out that if
there is not some pressure on our shoulder such as a test paper or a project to be made,
most of us do not even open the book to read the lesson taught a day before.
Secondly, I believe the social problem arrives. Without attending school it would
be difficult for any youngster to develop his communication skills, to stay in touch with a
group of friends. Not only the interaction with the colleagues but also those clashes with
the teachers aid the student to create a mental image of himself. to cope with his defects, to
accept a different a different opinion and, last but not least, to respect the elders.
Nonetheless, it is true that the e-learning has some benefits. In my opinion, the
one I believe to be of great significance is that you can learn at your own pace without the
risk of falling behind, a problem that occurs often in today schools. However, should we
abandon the future values of the society for the sake of some teenagers who are too
indolent to learn what is required? Even the ubiquitous sentence cast as a supreme act of
defiance: I do not need to learn for this subject, because it is of no use to me seems to
be the result of a childish way of thinking: all of us need to have some elementary notion
regarding every topic even though they give the impression that it is futile to apprehend
them. Hence, we enlarge our perspective towards the world surrounding and enrich our
knowledge by gaining easy acquired experience.
To sum up, despite the so-called modernization, I am certain that the traditional
classroom with teachers and students will endure because it is, in my opinion, not the
perfect but ultimately the best way devised to educate a child, a teenager and, in some
cases, even an adult.
