Eliminator Torsion Axles

The Eliminator Torsion Axle is an industry first with its


removable spindle. Gone are the days of sitting by the
side of the road when the spindle/axle is damaged due
to extreme bearing failure or due to an accident.

down the rubber cords compress, offering a progressive rate of resistance. Independent suspension: each wheel acts
independently for a smoother ride. The axle is bolted to the trailer frame which acts as an additional
cross member that stiffens the frame, reducing flex. The rubber torsion cord
design provides a progressive rate of shock absorption. Small bumps
require less torsion resistance as compared to larger bumps which
require a stiffer rate of shock absorption. This makes for a
smoother ride over all types of roads. Torsion axles allow

Super Lube Spindle - Access is made through

rear of the hub. Easily add the Super Lube System


to your existing trailer/axle.

the removable grommet on the dust cap. Internal


grease channel allows for maximum flushing of the
old grease while lubricating the system with new grease.

Simple is best. Especially when it comes to wheel bearing maintenance. Thats why Tie Down has introduced Super Lube, the hub
bearing lubrication system that provides continuous protection by following a fast and easy maintenance program.
Attach a conventional grease gun to the grease fitting. As new grease is continually pumped into the system, the old grease is forced out of the
bearings and into the dust cap reservoir. Remove all excess
grease from the dust cap reservoir, replace the rubber expansion access cap and repacking is completed without the expense
of a service center or removal of the wheel hub.
The Super Lube system provides for greater extended
bearing life by thoroughly distributing grease throughout
the hub cavity and eliminates the need to disassemble the
hubs and repacking the wheel bearings.
Simply put, that means peace-of-mind for you. Tie Down
Engineering uses high speed, automotive quality CNClathes
for the production of our Super Lube spindles. Each spindle is turned from high tensile, C1045
steel and 100% quality control checked for accuracy. Custom machining is available upon request.
Minimum run quantities and lead times may be required on some spindle models.

your specifications.

Tie Down Engineering uses the latest in computer aided
design and manufacturing with our line of wheel hubs for
trailers. From 1250 lb. to 4200 lb. capacities, Super Lube
and Turbo Lube options, Tie Down Engineering has you
covered. All hubs are studded (except for bolt style
hubs) and include cups installed. Options include the
Super Lube grease fitting and pre-assembled hubs with
bearings/seals and grease or complete end units with
spindles/hubs unit being completely preassembled.

Proper Hub to Spindle Mounting


Hub Installation:
1. Remove wheel from hub.
2. Remove hub dust cap, cotter key, spindle nut and washer.
3. Remove old hub from spindle
4. Assemble new hub. Pack bearings as shown. If not already
pre-assembled or pre-greased.
5. Mount wheel.
6. Tighten the spindle nut with a 1-1/2 inch wrench to approximately
40 ft. lbs. Turn wheel in both directions to be sure wheel turns freely.
7. Turn back spindle nut 1/6 to 1/4 turn to the nearest locking
hole. Wheel should turn smoothly with no end play or wobble.
8. Line up cotter key with nearest locking hole and spread key.
9. Install dust cap.
Wheel Bearing Lubrication:
Shading indicates the recommendation for the correct amount of grease in wheel hub. (Fill wheel hub with grease to inside diameter of
outer races and also fill hub grease cap.) Never use grease heavier than 265 A.S.T.M. penetration (No. 2 grade). Grease bearing cone
by machine or by hand method. Force grease between rollers, cone, and cage. It is not recommended that a pressure grease fitting be
installed on the hub.

Hub/Spindle End Units


End units are an important part of your axles and paying attention to your specifications is Tie Downs goal. They are
available in straight or drop, with or without a brake flange. Tie Down Engineering offers integral style disc brake rotors for
spring axle end units. Eliminator torsion axle end units can be assembled with drum brake hubs or integral disc brake rotors.
These can be installed at time of axle assembly, mounted on spare tire carriers or for customer replacement.
