E-STAR
What is E-STAR?
E-STAR (Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship Sustainability Student Summit for Transformational Leadership),
Leadership is an
annual forum meeting for developing comprehensive, structured green business model knowledge
in youth entrepreneurship through international network and organized campaign.
campaign This is
important and urgent, knowing negative business impact to environment,
environment growing needs for
sustainable way of life,, thus economy and environment is in opposite direction.
direction Students need
higher interest for future generations sustainable business mindset.

Students are still limited by country knowledge, cultural background, conventional approach, closed
thoughts and ideas. In the summit, chosen students (as country delegates) that are through
selection process, will discover values and principles about green entrepreneurship from academic,
entrepreneur, government expert, map fundamental values that green business model must have
after analyzing different industry cases.
cases They are then will plot regional campaign action plans and
ratified report.

All are done through beyond borders learning process. Benefits of this program will not only impact
students but also entrepreneurs
trepreneurs and communities alike. In the long run, E-STAR
STAR aims to become an
international student entrepreneur organization and continue realizing the vision.
vision As a conclusion,
the program objectives are network of students, interest to sustainability, knowledge
knowledge of green
business and ASEAN campaign.

When?
1st to 8th February 2012

Who will participate in E-STAR?

What will we do in E-STAR?

Through a full-week work-life
life balance summit program, from seminar, company visit, dinners until
tree planting, network bonding games and cultural exchange, E-STAR
E STAR shall give you memorable
experience in remarkable Indonesian traditional environment and eco-friendly
friendly management,
management thus
long-lasting
lasting relationship could be built. Yet we are here, together, to start a collaborative movement
of green entrepreneurship mindset development campaign to ASEAN universities.

Why greenpreneurship?
Our program was made from the urgency and importance of building knowledge and interest on
greener,
eener, more efficient activities up for students, as a mean of supporting global movement on
sustainable development, based on 4 MDGs Most Difficult to Achieve by Indonesia (July 2011):
ending poverty,, women empowerment,
empowe
HIV/AIDS eradication, and environmental
ntal conservation.
conservation

The challenge for balance between economy and environment does not only happen in Indonesia,
but also countries all around the world. Thus, future leaders (students) from different background
should take the opportunity to share and learn wisdoms of this issue.

One of ways to progress on sustainability is the making of green economy. It could start from youth
entrepreneurship, begins in the mindframe, anywhere, and should begin right now.
As a mean of our theme, Sustainability in Business Model of E-STAR
STAR will be described in:

Why The Program Is Important?

The program was made seeing the need of more effective and efficient business profitability
while protecting the environment. Unfortunately, there are conditions where green
entrepreneurship knowledge is unstructured and not ideally implemented throughout
comprehensive
prehensive

business

process.

Experts

mentioned

sustainability

in

entrepreneurship is currently perceived only as a status, not as processes in which need to

be integrated with business model. Future entrepreneurs and leaders are challenged to
change.
On the other hand, when students need to learn so, they are limited with country
knowledge, cultural background,
background conventional approach, closed thoughts and ideas.
ideas They
need to go beyond borders, engage with other student from different perspective, and do
advanced learning process while being facilitated by experts from entrepreneurs, academics
and government concerning sustainable entrepreneurship and green economy. Yet, this
cannot be done only now, but should be planned for the long-run.

GREEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP PRACTICE AND ITS CHALLENGE, DEFINITION OF A
SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS MODEL, AND GREEN PRACTICE KNOWLEDGE ON SPESIFIC

It is a growing field. We have good talent

in India so in terms of clean technology talent
we are at par with the world. The market is
diverse
and
offers
unprecedented
opportunities. The biggest will be solar
projects.
Sustainable Business Model:
atural environment is probably at
The natural
the top of the list, for it encompasses the
resources on which we all depend and it
brings the joy, the balance and the sense of
belonging that is at the core of our human
wellbeing. Equally constituent for our human
environment
ironment is our civilization, of which
politics; economics and entertainment is just
a few of the inseparable parts.

Renewable Energy Sources in India

Hydel: India has a total hydro energy
potential of about 1.5 lakh MW of which
about 20 % is installed. Small hydro plant
potential is about 15000 MW and most of it is
in the northern and eastern hilly regions.
Wind Energy: The wind power potential
of India is about 45,000 MW out of which
capacity of 8748 MW has been installed in
India till 31st March 2008. India is one of the
leading countries in generating the power
through wind energy. These potentials could
be improved if the technology of putting
turbines in sea is embraced. There are wind
farms on sea generating as high as 160 MW of
power

Biogas / Biomass
Biomass is converted into gas through a
gasifier after combustion. The biomass could
be used to generate steam or power or used
as a fuel. There are various examples of
gasifier power plants in India. Power is
generated using rice husk in Andhra Pradesh,
Pr
while several bagasse based plants are there.
India has a potential of 3500 MW from
bagasse. Other fast growing plants could be
planned over a huge area, so that it provides
biomass for generating power.
Bio-fuels
The input carbon dioxide and the old

of clean environment and light which is
aplenty. Just by using these two things algae
grows, and could be used for extracting oil
and then extracting bio-fuel
fuel from it. It will also
act as a sink for carbon dioxide and seems to
be the most attractive option. In a way it
should be called utilization of solar energy!
Solar energy
India is a tropical country and has many
sunny days. According to estimates, 35 MW of
power could be generated from 1 sq km. With
such potential, solar is going to be the future.

The startup cost is the biggest limitation
which has led to the low realization of the
potential it has. For solar energy to become
one of the front runners, it will require lot of
research, cheap technology and low capital.
Cooking, lighting, water heating and open
air drying applications are common now-anow
days, using solar energy. There are other
applications like solar vehicles, desalination,
agriculture, etc. which are coming up. It will

Green entrepreneurship is actually
creating a new products or services which is
not only for better in terms of quality and
quantity as an economical but also better for
our planet as well.
As I learned from Banjarsari Kampong in
Cilandak, South Jakarta whom was awarded
as the eco-friendly
friendly village from UNESCO in
1998 that they actually can managed all their
trash very well and by that they could
produced a compost every three days with
their organic waste and sell it to people. We
can see that at the samee time they got a very
clean, green and health environment besides
they can earn money as well. Thats is one of
the greenpreuneurship about.

Actually this is what I would like to share

to a lot of people especially for a low-income
low
people that we can bee green and we can earn
money as well too. Facts from voanews.co.id
said that Jakarta produced 6,300 tons of
garbage a day and only five percent of that
ends up being processed for reuse and the
rest of that just ends up in poorly maintained
dump sites, thrown
rown into street or tossed into
rivers and canals. So tihs is one of the biggest
challenge in Jakarta, Indonesia for sure. We
need more hand and people to help recycle
this tons of garbage and I optimist we can do
it better. Dont forget that we are our
principal
incipal architect of our planet design a good
environment for our children because Haida
Indian once said that We do not inherit this
land from our ancestors, but we borrow it
from our children.

Whatever is done in marketing and

business, customer remains as the focus, in
other words, marketers and business man run
the activities with customer oriented. The
most
significant
implementation
for
marketers
keters and business man regarding
consumer products and services are that
consumers are acting according to the values
that they hold through the power of their
purchasing decisions.
cisions. This new emerging
trend is called environmental consumerism.
The term is interpreted as an effort of
individuals to protect their planet or earth by
purchasing only the products they consider
green. So the consumers do not just judge on
the productt performance and price, but also
on corporate social responsibility (CSR). It also

includes the value of the product and its

environmental requirements. A business that
is able to bring up the value of its products,
without ignoring the environment can be
called as a sustainable business. Nowadays,
there are many industry and business
promoting green and organic product, but
sometimes they may just forget or ignore the
need of green or environmentally
enviro
friendly
process of production. Besides, some
industries
ies or businesses sometimes hide
behind the pretext of corporate social
responsibility (CSR) which become the
shortcut to exit from the responsibility to
make the process of production is
environmental friendly.

I dont know that much about green
entrepreneurship as most of the people tend
to know I guess. I think they are people that
make profit by doing services or creating
products that benefit or at least do not harm
the environment. As for the region Im at, I
think coming from not having any background
in environment, I tend to see that the
challenges of this business is how to make
m
an
economic profit from it. From my perspective

I see that this business is blooming right now

and everyone want to be beneficial to the
environment, but how to make an economic
profit from it is another story. Basically to
build a sustainable business model from this is
really not just getting the value proposition
that it offer but rather to how it will generate
revenue stream from the customer
relationship,
channels,
and
customer

Now I am living on Semarang,
Semarang Tembalang
(Diponegoro University ). A location of
crowded and high populated
populat
people.
Considering from the diversity of business , It
similar to other city which is located near to
university, Has food and beverages outlets,
laundry, boarding, etc.. Based from this
consideration, I felt an another needs ,
because I think the businesses here purely are
profit-oriented in majority.
It needed another touch that are not
merely focused on financial gain, it should
more about it; a sustainable benefit .
Moreover, the Tembalang area has many
things to considered , and environment is
being my focus. This was the first
firs idea of mine
to start a green entrepreneurship, an effort
that not only profit-oriented
oriented but also save
sa the
environment. Practically
ractically , my concept Has a
clear feedback agendas toward the
environment future.
Myy concepts overview are to produce
polo shirts trough
rough convection and sablon
business.. In front of the shirt is written a tag
motto of phrases that arouse awareness of
the environment. For example:
" your clothes is clean today, but the Earth
were increasingly dirty. Want to participate?
Please throw the trash in right place " etc. The
result of the shirts selling are 100% not for
managers /community members,
members but back
circulated into the community with the
manager make environment activities /
programs. For example: training of garbage
recycling, monthly seminars on environment,
eco-friendly festival etc. Besides
esides creating
awareness, it will constantly stimulate
participatory and initiatives act to the
surrounding society.

Some of the benefits;

1. The tag motto is creative and not
monotonous
2. As polo shirt, it can be used as formal
uniform of academic course, which is requires
the use of a collared dress
3. A college student is the right market for this
shirt, they have a responsibility as they have
Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi obligation.
Especially thee 3rd point ; social service. So
that they encouraged to buy the product
4. Besides that, college student is easy to
follow the "mode". It will ease us to sell this
polo shirt.
5. Convection and screen printing business
itself are the eco-friendly
friendly business. The waste
can be distributed to producers of certain
goods such as carpet and the production
process isn't involving harmful chemical
compound.
This business is precisely perfect to cover

hip. We educate people to love
the environment through words, we do
business, and we do the program based on
environment. And this must be sustainable for
long period of time.. I believe the concept is a
unique answer of environmental problems, as
the activity
ity comprising of creativity, social,
and innovation element . Why don't we just
make the eco-project
project directly without any
production of this shirt?
Periodically, it is made on that way, I
initially wanted to spread awareness first
among the people, with their awareness and /
or responsibility, participatory
articipatory and initiatives
action will appear as well as this business
developed.
The biggest challenge is (not just in
Semarang but in all places ): is there of us who

Current Practices:
It is a new avenue.Today, we are almost
close to the Western world. It accounts for at
least or over 10 per cent of Indias
investments. While the skew still tilts towards
metros since thats where the industries are,
there is clean tech emerging in smaller
small towns
and rural areas as well. This is set for rapid
growth in the next five years.

Prominent Green practices include:

Climate
Change:
CO2
utilization/sequestration,
ocean
acidification, forest conservation, forest
carbon measurement, emissions, climate
clima
modeling
Water Resource Management: watershed,
sewage, conservation, desalination
Energy
Distribution
&
Storage:
transmission and distribution (e.g. smart
grid), storage (grid level, end user,
community), monitoring and measurement
Clean Energy: solar/PV, wind, geothermal,
hydro, tidal, biofuels
Energy Efficiency/Use: smart buildings,
transportation, command

The market is huge. For new entrants, as

per the NAPCC (National Action Plan for
Climate Change), released by the Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh, It lists ten
missions like solar, water, etc. So each
mission offers unprecedented opportunity
and support from the government.
Challenges: There are two sets of
challenges/ needs:
On the government side, regulation and policy
must
be
enacted
to
encourage
entrepreneurship and the commercial sector
to enter. At the very least, policies that
hinder its development should be eliminated.
For example, in many municipalities, we have

found that the garbage contracts actually

prohibit the recycling or composting of waste
and mandate the waste be placed in an open
dumpsite.
On the commercial side, a lot of capital is
pumped into green products. However, in
developing economies particularly with
large rural and poor populations and
inadequate infrastructure
ucture much of the issue
is distribution and service. Traditional
paradigms of product and service delivery do
not work and while Indian VCs are growing
savvy about barefoot products, I would love
to see more investment in doorstep services
for lower income
come markets. The firm that can
tap into both will tap into vast green markets
in India.
A
Sustainable
business
is
any
organization
that
participates
in
environmentally friendly or green activities to
ensure that all processes, products, and
manufacturingg activities adequately address
current environmental concerns while
maintaining a profit. In other words, it is a
business that meets the needs of the present
world without compromising the ability of the
future generations to meet their own needs.
It iss the process of assessing how to design
products that will take advantage of the
current environmental situation and how well
a companys products perform with
renewable resources.
Green Practices knowledge, to be specific
in my region includes
1. Production
on of Bio-Fuels
Bio

Micro Algae.
2. Production of Ethanol (Alternative for

Green entrepreneurship practice can
simply refer to a venture into connecting and
creating alternatives and pursuing innovation
to address the needs of the environment for a
sustainable future, and addresses all areas
including natural environment, economic,
economi
social and personal needs.

through increased productivity, reuse

materials and waste products, and consume
resources responsibly. The entire product
lifecycle would have to be green, from
transporting the raw materials, labour,
packaging and other sustainability-related
sustainability
criteria.

Changing the mindset of people will

always be a challenge. It is a common
misconception that anything green tends to
have a higher cost (and also price) than
conventional products or services, making
people reluctant to switch their buying habits
or production
uction methods. Brunei, in particular,
has a very limited number of companies
providing green solutions. The important
thing is to be able to explain to companies
and consumers the long-term
term economic
benefits of going green. It would be a
challenge to have everything locally sourced
and often the endless war of environment
versus economics will always cause a
dilemma. Being green can be a new concept
for a lot of people despite the media exposure
on climate change awareness, and anyone
going green will be negatively
egatively labeled as a
treehugger or hippie. In fact, a lot of people
do not realize that being environmental has a
lot of economic benefits, especially as
companies ensure the sustainability of their
actions. Supporting green companies can
ensure that they stay in the market longer,
and as green products saturate the market, it
will eventually push the price down and more
people would be able to enjoy green
products. Products need to be affordable to
be sustainable.

Being green can be applied to all parts

and process of the business, including
transport, utilities and labour. As such, green
business does not necessarily mean producing
green alternatives such as energy or recycled
re
paper, but can be in any industry or business
sector. Being green is a practice, and as such
can be designed and implemented in any
business.

A sustainable business model would have

to be able to stretch natural resources

Brunei Darussalams economy has been

dominated by the oil and gas industry for the
past 80 years. Today, Brunei is the fourth
largest oil producer in South East Asia and the
ninth largest exporter of liquefied natural gas
in the world. Brunei Shell Petroleum ensures
that they preserve the environment by
developing hydrocarbon
arbon resources in a
sustainable manner.
There is strong
commitment to support environmental
activities, one of which is the Heart of Borneo
project. The commitment finds expression in a
whole range of internationally-benchmarked
internationally
policies, practices, standards
dards and controls
geared towards environmental sustainability,
which BSP has integrated into their business
operations. This is not entirely the answer to
solving the worlds environmental problems,
but while we wait for alternative energies to
be perfectly
ly developed, it is important that
the oil and gas industries be as responsible
and consume resources as sustainably as
possible.

Recycle bag for customer, Toyo battery used

The more the visitors visit , the more the

First I want to define what sustainable
development is according to my knowledge
and experience I have, generally. In March
2011, I ever had discussion with Cinta
Azwiendasari, alumni of ITB Environmental
engineering batch 2004, who is continuing her
master
ter degree in German. The topic
discussion is about sustainable development.
The main point I got after the discussion
is, there 2 model of development which
involve 3 pillars of nations, those are
environment, economic and social. Many
nations (including
ing Indonesia) use the Mickey
Mouse model which just focuses in economic
development besides the environment and
society circle. Meanwhile, the one that should
the nations use is the first model that is
Bullseye model which contain the variable
of sustainability.
ainability. Environment must be the
biggest focus in country development because
it is related with the future of the world. By
having climate change until now and some
disaster caused by disorder nature, human
must aware that we have to most concern in
environmental
vironmental balance in order to reach
sustainability life of humanity.

Then if we specifically talk about green

entrepreneurship, it is not too far correlated
with
that
sustainable
development.
Entrepreneurship cannot only focus in finance
sector (economy)
onomy) but also must care about
environmental
ntal issues. The practice, for
example in printing business which uses many
papers with it, must have the sustainability
model in its business model. The business
busi
must care about the waste they have
produced and at least have 3R (reduce, reuse,
re
recycle) method when they do the business.
For some big industries, which produce
such a big amount of waste, they must know
and have a system in order the waste they
have produce cannot contaminate the nature.
They must recycle it or reduce it as minimum
as they can so that the waste can be
decreased
sed or turn to be a product again that
has a value added to be sold. For example an
animal farm industries, they can recycle the
waste to be compos; or big industries which
produce chemist waste, they can implement
such reducing system by using eceng gondok;
gondo
and etc.
The main point, the young business
leader that will open a new business must
care about environmental issues and analyze
the environment problem of a country. For
example, Indonesia needs more renewable
energy business that can tackle both energy
crisis and climate change at once instead of
un-sustainable
sustainable energy that can pollute the
nature. Because if we are talking about
environment, we are not just focus in small
scope yet we will influent the global scope all
over the world.

Green entrepreneurship practice is a
venture that practices green initiatives in
pursuit to a more sustainable future while
addressing the needs of the natural
environment.
For a start, changing the mindset of the
community will always be the number one
challenge. It is always said that in adapting
any green practices, it always come at an
outraged cost or the process is too
complicated. These are misconceptions.
Putting green, cost and complicated in the
same sentence would put off most people
who tries to venture in green
n practices and
making them reluctant to change. It is a
constant dilemma between economics and
environment. In fact, looking at the long-term,
long
there are economic benefits. It ensures
sustainability of their action. They would stay
in the market longer as the community
supports companies with green initiatives.
A sustainable business model is
incorporating sustainability in every business
decisions, every product and every service
without having a negative impact on the
environment. Being green is not just
specifically mean recycling papers or saving
energy. Being green is about redesigning any
product services or services with green
initiatives.
Sustainable development has been one
of the long-term
term goals of Brunei. It is stated in

the national development plans where the

environment will continue to be prioritized.
Brunei looks to have a solid sustainable state
with the abundance of forest but it is most
likely because of the small population. Issues
arise in sustainability where Bruneis energy
consumption
n per capita is higher than Japan,
Germany and France. Brunei generates more
waste per person per day than most ASEAN
countries and uses more liters of water per
person than Malaysia and Singapore.
Two of the Brunei Long Term
Development Plan is to conserve

Bruneis
biodiversity, rain forests and natural habitat,
and enforcing regulations on public health
and safety. Tree planting is a regular event in
Brunei and there is a policy where four trees
must be planted when a tree is cut.
However the flagship of sustainability is
the Heart of Borneo (HoB). HoB is cooperation
between Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia in
the Borneo Island. HoB is where pristine
forest is conserved on a very large scale. It
contains protected
ected areas and sustainably
managed forests. The success of the
conservation is the continuation of
collaboration
between
government,
engagement in short term and long term
planning, and especially cooperation between
the private sector in positively contributing
contr
to
sustainable resource management. It is
important that private sectors as well as
public
sectors
to
be
responsible.

Actually, nothing too exciting if we talk
about the Green Entrepreneur in the region of
Aceh. The fact is the growth of Green
Entrepreneur is still minimal. Green
Entrepreneurship itself has not become a
trend if we discuss it in Aceh. Why? Due to its
own environmental problems can still be
handled for the region of Aceh. The point,
there is no significant environmental problem
in Aceh.
Aceh itself is far from the urban lifestyle
which is far from the Green Lifestyle. Thus
Green Lifestyle itself is indirectly implemented
by the community. Why not directly? Because
people in the region of Aceh still do not
understand and concerned with Green
Lifestyle. Well, Here was the problem, where
people have minimum
m knowledge about the
Green Lifestyle. What happens with the
changing times that continues to dissociate us
from Green Lifestyle? Ignorance of the
importance of culture that had been inherent
inside themselves, would make them
vulnerable to the harmful currents
cur
of
globalization. As we know that the Acehnese
culture has been on friendly terms with
nature. The shift of cultural values due to the
lack of knowledge mastery, will shift the
values of the Green Lifestyle itself.
For the current green entrepreneurship,
entreprene
Aceh can target the youth and environmental
activist and still a long way to target it widely,
such as a society. Because people are still
unsure of the quality and the use of products
itself. For practice, the use of tumbler, the

paradigm of peoplee that bringing tumbler is

inconvenient has been planted, making it
difficult to replace the use or consumption of
mineral water in the bottle. But, it doesn't
happen in all products, e.g. compost.
Acehnese are still dominant for doing organic
farming.
Waste treatment itself is still under
little
scale, which is grouping
and
distribution. For instance, a waste treatment
factory, employing just five employees. It thus
induced the function of factory itself is still
small. Subsequent process was handed
hand over
to the existing factory in Medan. I hope that
Aceh can have its own plastic waste treatment
factory, considering the amount of waste is
increasing.
The Aceh Government successful in
terms of waste treatment. But of course there
is still a lack of efficient. Final disposal area
process in Aceh took the theme of beauty,
where the final disposal area here organized
and shaped beautifully to attract tourist. In
fact, for a major waste problem, which is the
smell, isn't affect anyway. This waste
treatment
tment is also supported by the presence
of recycling waste furniture workshop in that
area. Which makes it less efficient is when
composting process produce greenhouse
gases (CH4). It would be nice if it can be used
as an alternative fuel as it has done in Java,
for example. Another obstacle is the lack of
campaign from the government about this
activity.

One of the biggest issues for the 21st
century is all about the word Green. In the
past, people focused on economic
developments, increased production and
profit maximization without taking account of
environmental factor and social issues.

largest lake in the country and is famous for
leg rowing, floating food garden, floating
market and Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. But, it is
suffering from environmental effects of
increased population and population growth.
In the summer of 2010, water
er level of the lake
dropped to the lowest level in 50 years. This
increases the awareness of environmental
issue and green practices among local
residence, hotel and travel association. Thus,
Inle 20 miles green zones program was
established by UMTA (Union
ion of Myanmar

Travel Association). Hotels in Inle have taken

the leading role in the program. They begin to
grow more fruits tree not only to conserve the
environment but also provide chemical free
fruits to the guest. They also grow organic
plants to reduce
uce chicken costs. Drip water
system is used for watering the plants to
reduce wastage. All signs and landmarks in
the resort are made from recycled timber and
tree trunks. Waste materials are separated
into paper, plastics, aluminum cans, glass and
metals.. Green practices to the guests are
promoted with natural activities like bird
watching. Exhibitions on green practices and
environmental awareness are organized for
local communities. Old bed sheets are
recycled as cleaning cloths. Mineral bottles
are replaced
laced with jug and glass. Some hotels
also have own Sustainable Department with
dedicated staff to implement green and
sustainable practices. Not only in Hotel
Industry, all others sectors are also promoting
green practices. For examples, chemical
fertilizers
ers are replaced by organic fertilizer
and fuel energy is replaced by solar energy. It
is also a good tool for marketing. Marketers
try to position their green products in the
consumers mind that they are saving the
earth while using the products. This can
ca
increase sales as well as goodwill and
reputation among customers.
Green Revolution has changed how
people live. They make the environment
healthier and more enjoyable. Though there
are still cases against green revolution, the
role of green entrepreneurs is very important
in the sustainability of organization,
biodiversity, environment and ultimately the
planet we live.

Green Entrepreneurship is a practice
which balances its concerns for profitability
with the concern for the environment in all its
activities. It is a responsible business model in
which its business activities and its goals are
also
directed
towards
environmental
wellbeing.
In a region in which many of the
countries are still considered as developing
nations, balancing the need to develop the
respective economies and the need to protect
and preserve the natural environment are of
great importance. In this regard, while the
regional countries are striving towards
enacting regulations which will reinforce
environmental sustainability, the private
sector also needs to play a crucial role in

taking the initiative

The SMEs, which are naturally some of

the most creative sectors in the economy, can
play a greater role in promoting sustainability
and environmental awareness through
innovative ideas. In todays environment
where environmental awareness is increasing,
the SMEs and other businesses are also
promoting their efforts towards sustainability
in their promotions and advertisings.
Sustainable business model is a business
model which ensures that its activities
address the current environmental concerns
while also maintaining profitability. It
incorporates environmental principles in its
business operations.

The word green is not new to all ages
of life but the practice of green in business
is novel to all and at a cost. Now, the world is
suffered badly form the global warming
problems and our modern society is facing
with the huge waste disposal. Our world
has been threaten by these disasters and it
needs green environment and our country,
Myanmar, is also one of the victims by Nargis
and Giri cyclone which made our people
homeless, killed thousands of thousands and
turned children into orphans. The green
entrepreneurship practice tends to protect
our social environment from potential
disasters, and it considers the possible ways
and does their business in the beneficial and
environmentally friendly ways for the society.
The goal of green entrepreneurs
entrepreneur may be
successfully achieve profits goals while
creating environmental and social solution.
The major problem is the use of plastic bags
which is the most harmful thing for the
ground and it create visual pollution problems
and can have harmful effects on
n aquatics and
terrestrial animals. Rejecting the use of plastic
bags have been accepted and using world
wide, our country is now start the way of
avoiding the use of plastic bags and replace
with the recycle bags or paper bags. As our

country is a developing
ing country, it is not wellwell
developed with the green entrepreneurship
practice, however it has been introduced and
has been started this practice little by little.
One of the most biggest retail shops in
Myanmar, City Mart, start using the recycle
bags program
gram for its customers and some
private business such as coffee-shop
coffee
and
handicrafts shops start using recycle bags
program. For example, Sharky coffee shop
packages its snacks for take away customers
in paper bags and next time the customer
come to the shop
op bring those bags again can
get 100 kyats discounts. And one of the
manufacturer company in Myanmar, Fame
Company which produce medical products
also grow more plants to maintain green
environment as it has to produce carbon
dioxide as the waste of its production.
p
In my
opinion, sustainable business model simply
means a model which ensures that the
development of a business is maintained. In
wider perspective, the business should also
consider that it also maintains the
environment and make sure it does not harm
environment by its business activities. By
caring the environmental issues may lead to
sustainable business model.

Green Entrepreneurs are people who
have the knowledge , initiative , and resources
to solve these problems or find innovative
ways to bring existing solutions to market that
benefits the environment. They see a need for
an environmentally-friendly
friendly solution , and
they
hey work toward creating a product or
service that meets the need. Some
entrepreneurs start a green business primarily
because of their passion for the environment.
Green work can be technology or
science-intensive. For example,
xample, generating
and transmitting energy from wind or solar
panels, or developing plastics from bio-based
bio
products , like corn or other organic material.
These are all better for the
he environment than
traditional methods (like
ike burning fossil fuel for
energy or using petroleum-based
based plastics).
Market can create social benefits-but
benefits
not
all
the
outcomes
or
by
by-products
from economic activity are desirable and that
can create problems. Green entrepreneurs
see environmental degradation
ion or social
problems as great opportunities. Analyze the
trends in STEM industries (science,
(
technology, engineering ,and math) where
many green innovators
vators get their start.
Example : Nanotechnology: which works with
atoms and molecules and their processes
to create environmentally friendly

and to find solutions to environmental

Currently, there is less participating
about green entrepreneurship practice in our
region. The NGO and small teams which
provide the social activities are available.
Nowadays, the talk events about the social
responsibility, greening issues and reducing
the pollution are hold in our region.
Sustainable business, or green business,
is an enterprise that has no negative impact

business
that strives to meet the triple bottom line.
Often,
sustainable
businesses
have
progressive environmental and human rights
policies.In general, business described as
green if it matches the following four criteria:
1.It incorporates principles of sustainability
into each of its business decisions. 2. It
supplies environmentally friendly
dly products or
services that replace demand for non-green
non
products and/or services. 3. It is greener than
traditional competition. 4. It has made an
enduring commitment to environmental
principles in its business operations. A
sustainable business is any organization that
participates in environmentally friendly or
green activities to ensure that all processes,
products, and manufacturing activities
adequately address current environmental
concerns while maintaining a profit. In other
words, it is a business
ss that meets the needs
of the present world without compromising
the ability of the future generations to meet
their own needs.Everyone affects the
sustainability of the marketplace and the
planet in some way. Sustainable development
within a business can
an create value for
customers, investors, and the environment. A
sustainable business must meet customer
needs while, at the same time, treating the
environment well.

Unfortunately, a majority of people

believe that green marketing refers solely to
the promotion oradvertising of products with
environmental characteristics. Terms like
Phosphate Free, Recyclable, Refillable,Ozone
Friendly, and Environmentally Friendly are
some of the things consumer most often
associate withgreen marketing. While these
terms are green marketing claims, in general
green marketing is a muchbroader
muchbroad concept,
one that can be applied to consumer goods,
industrial goods and even services.
Forexample, around the world there are
resorts that are beginning to promote
themselves as "ecotourist"facilities, i.e.,
facilities that "specialize" in experiencing
nature or operating in a fashion that
minimizes theirenvironmental impact. Green
marketing practice helps clients communicate
their products' environmental and health
benefits while staying within the legal
boundaries that govern such green marketing
claims.
ms. We advise and build strategies for
green marketing campaigns that advance
directly toward your marketing goals without
becoming entangled in the complex and everever
evolving regulatory framework. This includes
a comprehensive review of your advertising
and
d promotional materials to ensure that your
environmental claims can be substantiated
scientifically and attract loyal customers while
avoiding inadvertent misrepresentations.
There are many different areas that marketing
practices can be greened up as well

business can market. Some strategies of green
