The Miss Teen Cape Breton Pageant is a scholarship program. The
scholarship
is given to the titleholder exclusively for furthering her education. Delegates
are
judged on personality, intellect, ability to communicate with people, public
presentation, community involvement and philanthropy, and distinct career
aspirations. We are looking for applicants with a strong sense of self,
confidence
in her abilities, is charming, has strong written and verbal communication
skills, is a team-player, aspires to be successful and intends to pursue postsecondary
education or training. All delegates are role models and

ambassadors of Cape Breton Island.

Miss Talent: Participation is optional. Judged on preparation,
costume,
expressions, etc. Limit time, 4 minutes, which is strictly adhered to
Miss Ambitious: Voted on ticket sales of Pageant Night
and also on sales of Support Ads.
Miss Friendship: Voted privately between the Delegates ONLY.
Miss Scholastic: Each girl will be required to write an academic essay on
a theme surrounding Cape Breton Island. Each delegate will receive the
same essay topic
and support materials.
ALL CATEGORY AWARDS ARE SEPARATE AND HAVE NO BEARING ON
THE
SELECTION OF MISS TEEN CAPE BRETON.
All Miss Teen Cape Breton Delegates: Sash bearing the area they
represent, Pageant
T-Shirt, gift bag.
** The scholarship is not a cash prize; it will be held in trust and paid directly
to the
winners post secondary institution upon attendance.**

RULES AND REGULATIONS:
Parents of prospective contestants must read the following
information
and sign below if the Official Application is to be considered.
The contestant signed below must reside or go to school in Cape Breton. She
must give permission to Miss Teen Cape Breton to use her photographs,
speeches, videos, etc. for publicity purposes and future pageant materials.
In consideration for being accepted as a contestant in this pageant, we the
parents and/or guardians of the contestant, individually named below, do
hereby release Miss Teen Cape Breton Pageant, directors, staff and servants
from any and all claims and damages directly or indirectly resulting from
named contestants participating in the pageant. It is signed and understood
that all savings bonds and/or scholarships will be issued at the END of the
title-holders (Miss Teen Cape Breton) reign, provided that she has
successfully
completed her term and complied with the rules and regulations set forth by
the
Miss Teen Cape Breton Pageant. The title-holder must attend an accredited
university or college to receive the scholarship. It is not a cash award. If the
title-holder has a student loan, it may be applied directly towards the loan.
The
scholarship is not awarded to the title-holder; it is a scholarship to be used
for
education and is paid directly to the educational institute.
Contestants must not have been married, have a child or be with-child.
Delegates may be asked to represent their city/town/county in other
activities
throughout the year. The title-holder is responsible for attending next years
pageant to crown the new Miss Teen Cape Breton. The reigning title-holder is
required to represent Cape Breton Island with good character, morals and
dignity. If she cannot fulfill her duty, then she will forfeit her title, all prizes
and
scholarship awards to the 1st runner up.
Contestants must be a resident of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia;
Contestants must be between the ages of 14-18 years old (must not turn 19
on or before August 30th, 2015)
Pageant winner will have to wait 1 year before re-entering the pageant;

Contestants must be in good academic standing


Children of owners/ employees of pageant committee members,
administration, volunteers, or corporate sponsors may be disqualified;
To make the pageant accessible to all prospective delegates and to
promote Cape Breton business, Miss Teen Cape Breton delegates will be
required to obtain sponsorship support from local businesses and/or
community groups (minimum $300.00);

Before the competition, Miss Teen Cape Breton delegates will be required
to participate in various publicity, workshop and event preview activities,
as well as at least one day of community service organized by the Miss
Teen Cape Breton Pageant officials and partners;
Delegates must meet character criteria, time commitments and job
responsibilities set forth by the Miss Teen Cape Breton Pageant;
The title-holder will be required to participate in local community and
fundraising initiatives (Organize a food drive, participate in
local Christmas Parade, Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, and delegates
choice
of Relay for Life/ Habitat for Humanity/ Run for the Cure or another
suggestion);
Miss Teen Cape Breton is a scholarship pageant, not a beauty pageant.
There are no height or weight restrictions;
The Director has the right to change the agenda of the pageant, preview
activities or events, as well as the age groups to accommodate the
number of entries received;
Judges decisions are final and any show of poor sportsmanship will
result in disqualification of the contestant without a refund of fees from
the pageant event.
