Electric machine project

Introduction
The aim of this project is to make a simple mobile phone charger. This is
basic charger which charges the cell phone. Charger is the basic need to
charge the cell phone. In this project we explained each and every point
briefly.
In our homes 220-240 AC-voltages is available. First we need to decrease
the input voltage which is favourable for the cell phone battery. We
decrease the voltage up to 12V AC by using step down transformer. And
then we used the rectifier bridge to convert Ac supply to DC supply and
capacitors are used for smoothing purpose. We also used voltage
regulated IC which regulates the output voltage.

Working
According to the figure 2 as you see we used step down transformer
which covert 220V AC to 12V AC. In this transformer number of turns
on primary side is greater as compared to secondary. The ratio between
these two windings is 55:3

Figure 3(Step-down transformer)

The input generated at 220v is shown below

Figure 4 (Waveform at 220V Ac)

After transforming the voltage becomes 12V AC at secondary side. The
waveform is as shown below

Now we pass the 12V AC from the rectifier bridge to obtain 12V DC.
Now we achieved the DC voltage which is favourable for the cell phone
battery but cell phone need 5 volts for charging.

We attached the capacitors C1 and C2 for smoothing purpose. Noise and
distortion in signal overcome by using these capacitors.
Here, we used voltage regulator IC LM-7805 to regulate the voltage up to 5
volts.
Input voltage range 7V- 35V,Current rating Ic = 1A,Output voltage range
V(Max)=5.2V ,V(Min)=4.8

CONCLUSION
We conclude that we achieved 5V dc from 220V AC by using this circuit
as we mentioned above. In direct current (DC), the electric charge
(current) only flows in one direction. Electric charge in alternating
current (AC), on the other hand, changes direction periodically. The
voltage in AC circuits also periodically reverses because the current
changes direction.
We used Multism software for circuit testing.
