CYAN MAGENTA YELLOW BLACK (Page 1)

Adult deer can be easily detected by predators due to their

scent and large size. Because of
this, does will spend long periods of time away from their
fawns to disassociate their scent
from the fawn and keep them
safe from predators. For the
first month of life, the doe will
only visit the fawn a few times
a day to nurse quickly before
leaving again, although usually
not going too far.

Fish and Game by emailing wildlife@wildlife.nh.gov or calling

603-271-2461 and make a report. Fish and Game staff can assess
the situation and help determine the best course of action. In most
cases it is best to leave the fawn alone and allow time for the
mother to return to move it to a different location.

NEVER take in wildlife. Only qualified people with special rehabilitator permits, issued through N.H. Fish and Game, may take
in and care for injured or orphaned wildlife. Improper care of
injured or orphaned wildlife often leads to their sickness or death.
For example, deer fawns that have been fed cow's milk will
develop severe diarrhea (scours). Every year, the state's only
licensed fawn rehabilitator has several fawns die from scours
because they have been improperly fed or cared for by the public.
Unless you have rehabilitator credentials, it is ILLEGAL to have
in your possession or take New Hampshire wildlife from the wild
and keep it in captivity. For a full list of licensed wildlife rehabilitators, go to http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/wildlife/rehabilitators.html.

Please remember that the best way to help young wildlife is by

keeping them WILD. For more information, see

Judges tasted the mustards

Judging took place over a period

where chefs, food writers,
restaurateurs, and mustard aficionados gathered to pick the
medal winners and the Grand
Champion.

In addition to the exotic category, judges tasted sweet-hot,

fruit, spirit, American yellow,

mustard-based dressings and

Edmond Fallot Walnut Dijon,

Gold Medal winner in the Exotic
Mustard Category, was named
Grand Champion, reports
Barry Levenson, Curator of the
National Mustard Museum and
director of the competition since
1995.
It has a bright walnut flavor
and a real bite, making it an
excellent mustard for fish,
meats, and especially as a base
for a walnut salad dressing. The
Fallot mustard factory known
as the Moutarderie is located in Beaune, France,
in the heart of Burgundy and
only 44 km from Dijon.

shows how varied the flavors
and style of mustard are, says
Barry Levenson. The judges
choice of an exotic mustard as
Grand Champion shows that
theres more to mustard than
yellow, brown, and Dijon. Of
course, those classic flavors
remain the top selling mustards
in the United States and
favorites among mustard eaters
everywhere.

The judges have tasted and the

judges have decided: Edmond
Fallot Walnut Dijon is the Grand
Champion of the 2015 WorldWide Mustard Competition.

New Hampshire voters take

Presidential Campaigning seriously. We want to see and meet
each of you two to three times
before we decide. Its kind of
like buying a car; we check you

New Hampshire also has a long

history of what we refer to as
The Pledge. Nearly fifty
years ago my father, the late
New Hampshire Governor

(1968) and he pledged to the
voters that he would Ax the

successful in protecting our voters. In 2010, I decided it was
time that we should have a

Candidates from both parties
were asked to sign and on
August 12, 2011 Governor Mitt

The 2016 Presidential Pledge

will be ready to sign within the

Presidential Candidates to sign
the First in the Nation
Primary Pledge, which is
attached. I plan to reach out to
each Presidential Candidate
and ask them to sign The
Pledge.

Inspiring Words for You!

Dear Friends, and here we are in the

newness of Spring once again! Psalms
of praise and thanksgiving always echos in my
mind during this season. Psalm 100, Make a
joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve
the Lord with gladness. Come before His
presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He
is God. It is He who has made us, and not we
ourselves; We are His people and the sheep
of His pasture. Enter into His gates with
thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For
the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And
His truth endures to all generations. Happy
Spring, God bless you...

Mountain Mud Run Event May 30th________________________________________________________________

We had the opportunity to visit

the site of the Mountain Mud
Run this week. Boy oh boy,
things have changed this year.
Mountain Mud Run began as
Cliff Edge Run in August of
2013 the name changed to
Mountain Mud Run in 2014.
Mountain Mud Run occupies
63.85 acres in Warren, NH, just
off Route 25C and is home to
the bi-annual event consisting
of Mud Bog, Rock Crawl and
Bounty Hill competitions. The
first event this year will take
place on May 30, 2015.

Since last year, the mud venue

has undergone major changes.
The side hill was clear cut and 2
new Mud truck parking lots
have been built. Spectator seating areas have been built so
spectators can sit in what we are

venue also has taken on a new

look from increasing spectator
areas 10 fold, to adding a stock
class crawl and beefing up the
modified and unlimited crawls

thrills will be awesome.

Mountain Mud Run hasnt

stopped there, they have added
new camping sites and they
have built a permanent stage
that will be played on for the
first time by the Conniption Fits
4-7 PM on May 30, 2015.

There are several new trails that

you can run your own fourwheel drive rigs and dont miss
the second event on September
12 & 13, 2015.

being called, skyboxes or sit

track side up close and personal. The mud venue isnt all that
has changed, as the Rock Crawl

Mountain Mud Run is open all

year and will rent their venue
anytime for small or large
groups. Consider them your 4wheeling headquarters. They
have moved mountains for you.
so that the competitors will be Runninit Hard Mountain
on the courses longer and the Mud Run!

CYAN MAGENTA YELLOW BLACK (Page 21)

Karolyn Kinane presents a lively, interactive crash course in the

medieval English language,
specifically the poetry of
Chaucers The Canterbury
Tales. Participants will have the
opportunity to read and recite
medieval poetry aloud in a fun,
relaxed environment. The program includes a brief, illustrated
historical overview of the events
that sparked linguistic transitions from the Anglo-Saxon and
Anglo-Norman eras to the
Middle English era, including
the Norman Invasion, the Black
Death, and the invention of the
printing press. Kinane closes by
exploring how these medieval
events are still embedded in the
English we speak today and how
modern inventions and events
continue to shape language.

pm, Nigel Manley of The Rocks
Estates talks about our local
wildlife and how they survive in
New Hampshire, along with a
few of their quirky traits. How
much do you know about porcupines? Also take the time to visit
The Sugar Hill Sampler for a
horse-drawn wagon ride in the
lupine fields. At 2:30 pm on both
Saturday and Sunday, drive up to
the refurbished Inn at Sunset Hill
for a tour and light refreshments.

The Sugar Hill market wouldnt

be complete without music. On
Saturday, Joseph Hansalik will
entertain us with his wide repertoire of music on keyboard. On

Sunday, hell move to the

Meetinghouses grand piano for
another concert. And on Sunday
at 1 pm, The Vermont Fiddle
Orchestra will play toe-tapping
music. This community orchestra spans several generations,
from beginning level players to
professional soloists playing
simultaneously while providing
entertainment, education, and
preserving the traditional fiddling of New England. They are
more than just fiddles. Youll
find cellos, guitars, mandolins,
flutes, accordions, and other
instruments in the orchestra, too.
The VFO wants the audience and
the musicians to have fun at their
concerts. If the weather is nice,
bring your lawn chair because
well move the concert outside.
