INTRODUCTION
The" J" series of line extenders
conventional
nologies.

and power

offers both

doubling

tech-

The JLX-Cuses the latest generation of hybrid

push-pull technology for 450 MHz operation.
The JLX-C is intended for use as a typical
feeder line extender. JLX-C has increased gain
for more economical
system design and
includes a highly efficient switch mode power
supply for minimum power consumption.
The JLX-P line extenders use advanced power
doubling
hybrid technology
to provide
improved distortion performance at high output levels. These power doubling line extenders offer high gain performance with low
power requirements
through the use of a
highly efficient switching power supply.
JLX-* FEATURES

The JLXhousing and chassis have been designed

to support operation up to 1 GHzbandwidth. The
amplifier housing is designed for maximum heat
dissipation; has a woven wire gasket between
body and lid for efficient ground continuity and
RF shielding; and a silicone rubber gasket for
weather protection. The input and output ports
have extrusions for securely interfacing cable
connectors with heat-shrunk tubing.
The amplifier module can be plugged into
the housing in either direction as required
by signal flow.

"J" series line extenders support 60V powering at input levels as low as 38 volts. Surge
arrestors, Model XO-36, come installed in all J
series line extenders.

The 30dB test points, accessible through the

housing, are built into the line extender for
improved accuracy. Standard male "G" to female
"F" adapters are recommended for field readings
with standard test equipment.
For system operation of 350 MHz or less, an
optional plug-in slope board, model JLP-SLB350 is available.
Optional return amplifier, Model JLX-SSis available and can be plugged into the main module
to amplify the 5-30 MHzsub-channel band.

JLX SERIES LINE EXTENDER

Power passing is accomplished through use

of CBJ-5 circuit breakers or the alternative CFJ7A 7 amp fuse. The CTF-JLXis used for thermal
compensation and can be utilized pre-stage or
inter-stage to allow for minimization of noise
figure or distortion, as required by application.
The optional accessories are ordered separately.

of fixed equalizers, the same equalizers used in

the Starline SX amplifier. Through the use of
customer installed DF-* diplex filters, the JLX
can be equally configured for a variety of splitband requirements. The DF-* diplex filters are
also shared with the Starline SXamplifier.
