WWJD

Introduction:
1... So, what first comes to your mind when you hear the phrase What would Jesus do? or its
abbreviation WWJD?
2... If youre like me, you probably think of bracelets that were first made popular back in the
1990s among Christian young people.
3... A church leader in Holland, Michigan, first conceived of the idea back in 1989 for her youth
group to wear as a reminder of their commitment to Christ and as a witnessing tool. Then, seven
years later, a Christian publishing house in Grand Rapids, Michigan, began commercializing the
idea. The popularity of the bracelets increased considerably after the late radio personality Paul
Harvey mentioned them on his broadcast every day for a week during the spring of 1997. Both
CNN and the Associated Press picked up stories about the bracelets, and sales quickly took off.
More than 15 million bracelets have been sold since then. (Even though 15 million bracelets
were sold, I wonder how many who wore the bracelet lived up to the saying). Many people have
become so careless with their Christianity. They quit living their life in a way of what would
Jesus do, they have start live a life of WWID (What would I do).
4... The focus of this message is to remind you that it is easy to wear a WWJD bracelet, but it is
not so easy to live your life and do things the way that Jesus has taught us to do them.
Illustration:
1... I like the story about the little boy who came into where his mom was and announced that he
had 2 pieces of candy. She asked, "What are you going to do with them?" He answered, "Im
going to eat them."
Thinking this was a great teaching opportunity, she said to him, "Dont you think you ought to
share the candy with your brother?" He answered, "I dont have enough to share. So Im going to
eat them myself."
Well, it was obvious that he needed to be taught about generosity. So she asked, "What do you
think Jesus would do if He had 2 pieces?" He answered, "I think Jesus would make 2 more
pieces of candy and give them to His brother."
2... We dont always do the right thing, do we?
3... How many of you can think of something right now that you did not do right? You didn't
handle something in the way you should. You said something that you should have not said. You
acted in a way that you should have not acted.
4... The truth is, we have all done things that we regret and wish that we have never done it. We
have all done things that the H.S. convicted us about. But here is the problem. Some people have
made a life style of not doing things the way that Jesus would have done it, and others have done
it their way for so long that they never get convicted by the H.S. (This is a very dangers place
for a person to be).
5... I am reminded of a story of a man who had a bumper sticker on his car that said, honk if you
love Jesus. This same man was setting at a red light when a car behind him kept blowing his
horn. He gave him a finger sign an drove off. When he got to church he found out that it was the
visiting speaker at the church. (Be sure your sins will find you out).

6... Looking from another point of view, others have found it easy to honk because they love
Jesus, but hard to conduct their life style in a Christian manner.
7... Something to think about: You, and your Christ like actions, can cause someone to see the
reality of God. (Pray that your light will reveal Gods glory).
Texts:
1 Cor 10:31-33
31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many,
that they may be saved.
KJV
1... These words embrace all of life, what we eat, what we do, we do to the GLORY of God, we
give none offence, we try to please all men in all things, not seek our own profit (Not about me),
but the profit of many for the purpose that all may be saved.
2... Paul was allowing Christ to live in Him - He said in (Gal 2:20-21) "I have been crucified
with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in
the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Paul said
in (1 Cor. 11:1) Be ye follows of me, even as I also am of Christ.
1 Peter 2:21-24
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an
example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but
committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins,
should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
KJV
3... Paul reminds us in (Vs21) of our calling, For even hereunto were ye called. (Every Christian
has a calling). What is that calling? It is found in (Vs21), Christ suffered for us, leaving us an
example, that we should follow his steps. (Our steps should always line up with WWJD).
4... What did Jesus do? (Vs22) He did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth.
5... What would Jesus do? (Vs23) says when he was reviled, He reviled not again. In (Vs23)
says, being dead to sins, He lived unto righteousness. (Are you living a life dead to sin? Are you
living a live unto righteousness?)
6... I believe that if we based every avenue of our life on WWJD, it would have an everlasting in
pack on our lives and the lives of others.
Would Jesus layout of Church:
1... Jesus went to church as a regular practice. (Luke 4:16) says, "He went to Nazareth, where he
had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom." It
was his customhis regular practiceto go to church.
2... The Message Bible puts it like this, "As he always did on the Sabbath, he went to the meeting
place." If Jesus made it a priority to meet together with other believers, shouldn't we, as his
followers, do so also?
3... (Hebrews 10:24-25)And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one
another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

4... Jesus went to Church, he was an encourager, and he taught us to go to Church and exhort one
another daily.
5... What would Jesus Do? He went to Church.
6... It is the Church that is with you when you are hatched, matched, and dispatched. There is an
old saying that says, don't let the hunch carry you to church.
