Bali 9 death penalty

Hello teachers and students, my name is Sean and I will be talking about one of the
most controversial topics, the outrage between the Australia and Indonesian
governments for the death penalty sentence for Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran
for attempting to smuggle drugs into Australia. So why should we ban the death penalty?
The death penalty should be banned for a number of reasons but 3 reasons why it
should be banned is, firstly the death penalty is inhumane and it doesnt decrease crime
rate. Furthermore crimes that can give you the death penalty such as killing someone is
unfair as you could be innocent but once youre dead they cant bring you back to life.
Lastly more than 140 countries have abolished it, it breaks human rights and you wont
be able to have a second chance in life.
Firstly the death penalty is completely inhumane as it ends your precious life and it does
not lower crime rate. In the average of 21 years, states with the death penalty had a 31%
crime rate of murder, while states without the death penalty had an average of 26%
crime rate. This shows that the death penalty does not deter crime at all. The death
penalty also is extremely inhumane as it ends ones precious life. The death penalty is
also very cruel and ghastly as 80% of deaths from the death penalty is from firing squad.
That means a soldier will take a gun and shoot a bullet through your brain. This is also
breaking the 6th commandment of the holy bible Do not commit murder. The death
penalty needs to be abolished from the world so humans can live in world peace and
harmony without starting controversial drama and fights with other countries. This shows
that the death penalty needs to be abolished as it will do nothing but kill people and do
nothing good to the world.
Furthermore, the death penalty is utterly and completely unfair! It is unfair as with the
death penalty you could be innocent but if you are killed you cant be declared innocent
and cant be set free as your precious life is gone. It also breaks the 6 th commandment of
the holy bible which is Do not commit murder. This is also giving children a bad
example as it is showing that some countries can choose whether or not to kill someone.
And more than 3000 people killed via the death penalty, were later found innocent of
what they were accused of! Can you imagine the families of the victim to find out their
loved one was innocently killed? If they were in jail, they could have been let out or stay
alive, but with the death penalty is completely and utterly a gruesome crime that is
completely unfair and should be abolished from the whole world.
Lastly, the death penalty should be banned because it breaks human rights, and it is
banned in more than 140 countries. The victim wont be able to have a second chance in
life and since we were small are parents would tell us to forgive and forget but with the
death penalty, we will never be able to forgive. . Since more than 140 countries have it
abolished why does it need to be allowed in other countries? The death penalty also
breaks human rights which is Not to punish anyone in a cruel or harmful way. Not only
that is just cruel, you wont be able to have a second chance in life, so if you make one
bad mistake in your life, you will be punished forever for that. How will that help us
forgive someone? This is why the death penalty should be banned so more people can
be given a chance in life and so every country can be in peace.
Thus, the death penalty should be banned so the completely inhumane punishment will
give people a second chance in life, because it is unfair and unjust to kill someone for

one wrong thing they did, it does not lower crime rate and it breaks human rights and it
breaks the 6th commandment of the bible. It is also banned in more than 140 countries
and it needs to be banned by every countries so we can have more peace in the world
and less people will be innocently killed. If the death penalty was gone the world will
have less problems and governments in other countries will have less arguments. This is
why the death penalty should be banned
