Chris Tillery moved to the Midwest as a teenager from New


Orleans, Louisiana. He obtained his law degree from the
University of Kansas in 2006. Prior to joining the Firm, Chris
served as a law clerk in the 10th Judicial District Court of Kansas.
While working for the Honorable Thomas Sutherland and other
district court judges, Chris gained valuable experience in all
areas of civil law, from research and analysis of complex
business disputes to legal writing in the form of both memoranda
and draft opinions.
Since joining the Firm as an associate in 2008, Chris has
represented a variety of business and commercial clients as
defense counsel in the areas of business and commercial
litigation, employment discrimination and retaliation, construction
defect and design error, medical malpractice, products liability
and premises liability. He has extensive case management
experience in all stages of litigation, including written discovery,
pre-trial and post-trial motions, and direct and cross examination
of witness testimony at deposition or at trial. He also has broad
familiarity with all aspects of dispute resolution, including pre-suit
negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and pre-trial settlement
conferences.
Chris lives with his wife, Amy, and their three young children in
Overland Park, Kansas.

Representative Experience:
Achieved favorable settlements and pre-trial dismissals as co-counsel representing
employers in federal and state discrimination, retaliation, and hostile work environment
claims.
Achieved several pre-trial dismissals as lead counsel representing large area grocery store
chain in premises liability cases in Kansas and Missouri.
Currently serving as co-counsel representing national EPC company and surety in Miller Act
action brought by excavation and earthwork subcontractor seeking additional compensation
for work performed on project as Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia.
Co-defense counsel for product manufacturers and insurers in fire losses and product
liability cases involving claims of defect in design, manufacture and warnings of various
industrial and consumer products such as Christmas trees, lawnmowers, bathtubs, and
spray-booths.

Achieved favorable settlement as co-counsel representing local engineering firm in


$600,000 lien claim for engineering and survey work.
Served on a team that achieved pre-trial dismissal of $200,000 personal injury action
against client that involved heavy equipment injury.
Co-defense counsel for physicians and health care facilities in professional malpractice
claims throughout Missouri and Kansas.
Co-counsel on successful defense of national and publicly-traded engineering firm in
arbitration seeking $20 million in damages arising from alleged errors in HVAC system
design.
