1. INTRODUCTION
Currently most of crude oils contain salts, water and metallic compounds which shall
be removed before refining processes. To reduce salt contents, and also water and
metal contents of crude, usually desalters are used in today refineries. Desalters are
assumed as a process package during feasibility study, conceptual design and basic
engineering design. Detail design of a desalter package is performed later by
specialists / vendors.
This software has been designed to provide required data during preliminary design
phases, especially when technical data are inadequate. Obviously, results of this
software are sufficient for preliminary phases and for detail design users shall confer
with professional suppliers.

2. HOW TO START
The package that you have downloaded is comprised of two major items (see Fig.1):

Run the application by clicking on software (Fig.1, item 2).

You can see the software interface as shown in Fig.2. Click START and wait until
the application license is validated.

If the software is corrupted do not use it. Download it again for free. Never use a
corrupted application.

3. INPUT DATA
After license validation, you can see the software interface (Fig.3). Now you may
provide software inputs. Desalter Package requires package capacity as minimum
requirement (Fig.3, item 1). By providing feed API (Fig.3, item 2) and Salt Content
(Fig.3, item 3) you can obtain more accurate estimations. However, this application
can provide reasonable results without these inputs.
When you have finished, press Calculate Outputs (Fig.3, item 4). You can use
Edit (Fig.3, item 5) to revise inputs.

4. OUTPUTS
This application provides preliminary estimations for (Fig.4):
- Investment
- Deslater Configuration
- Utility Requirements
- Recommended Working Temperature
Usually deslaters have one or two stages and estimated investment corresponds to
all capital costs relevant to desalter package. Battery limit and items of one-stage
and two-stage desalters are shown in attachments 1 and 2, respectively.
If everything is OK, press Prepare Report (Fig.4, item 1) and refer to Report tab
(Fig.4, item 2).

5. REPORTS
Check Warning section (Fig.5, item 1) and if there is no critical warning, review
and save the report (Fig.5, item 2).
