153 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Letter From the Editor
Hello again to everyone! Today I type to you with lots of news and
results from last nights recall elections in Wisconsin, but I also would
like to tell you a little bit about what Ive done today.
As you know, I have been vacationing in Cape Cod, in the town of
Mashpee. Very close to Mashpee is Hyannis, where four generations of
the Kennedy family have relaxed and met over the summer. In Hyannis,
there is a nice museum that is all about the Kennedy family and their
time in and connections to Cape Cod and Hyannis. I have been there a
number of times, and I wanted to share a couple of pictures I took with
you:

Far Left: The museum in

Hyannis, Massachusetts, with
the statue of JFK in front.
Just to the Left: A tiny statue
in the Museum titled What
a
Could Have Been. It shows
what life could have been like
for the Kennedy clan in
President Kennedy (left) and
John, Jr. (right) hadnt both
died it such young ages/

Far Left: A new addition to

the Hyannis Kennedy
experience. There is now a
Trail showing 10 spots
significant to Kennedy life in
Hyannis. The trail opened a
week from yesterday.
Next to this: I bought a
button saying If I were 21,
Id Vote for Kennedy. Of
course, the voting age is
now 18, but you get the
point.

I highly recommend a visit to Hyannis just to see the Kennedy

connections. And by the time you visit, things could be different. The
famous Kennedy compound, first bought by JFKs parents in 1928, has
been bought by a new Institute in Edward Kennedys name. The firstever public tour of the compound was given yesterday, to a group of
high school students. The houses might be opened to all soon

2012 Central
RECALL NEWS!!! Well the big 2 year recall fiasco is done,
and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is still Governor. As expected,
Walker has kept his seat, and has beat Milwaukee Mayor Tom
Barrett, his Democratic opponent for the pivotal recall election.
Walker won by 6.8% yesterday, in what is seen as a big victory for
Republicans.
This win might not affect the presidential race much, at least on the
winner. For a while now, Wisconsin has been a swing state,
although President Obama has kept a lead for some time. But Mitt
Romney will be very happy about this win, and Walkers victory is
a Romney organizational victory. Team Romney can build on the
organization Walkers campaign made for the recall. Within
weeks, all of the Walker campaigns offices in the state will
probably by converted to Romney offices, and its hard to come by
new office space.
In addition, this win gives Walker a unique position as a
Republican hero, and youll see a lot more of Scott Walker,
unheard of a couple years ago. Youll see him campaigning for
other GOP candidates in and out of Wisconsin, possibly even for
Romney. Who knows? He might have earned himself a speaking
slot at the Tampa Convention in August, or a spot on Romneys
VP short list.
Other Recall Races But the gubernatorial election wasnt the only
Wisconsin recall yesterday. The Lieutenant Governor and four
state senators, all Republicans, were put to a recall test, and all but
one survived.

Freshman Sen. Van Wanggaard was narrowly beaten in his recall

election. Soon, former state senator John Lehman will return to the
seat he left just last year. Lehman beat Wanggaard for the southeastern seat by around 35,000 votes, according to the Milwaukke
Journal-Sentinel.
But this win isnt just a normal State Senate win. The win puts
Democrats in control of the Wisconsin State Senate, something
they have been trying to get for the past months. This is a victory
for the Party, but theres a possibility of a recount, and the
gubernatorial loss is a big blow, for sure.

Executive Schedule
President Obama left earlier today for San Francisco, arriving
there around 1:45 PM.
Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden was in Winston-Salem,
North Carolina talking about jobs,
And First Lady Michelle Obama was in New York City speaking
at a campaign events. She later left for Philadelphia to meet with
Obama campaign volunteers.
Following his arrival, the President attended and spoke at two
campaign events.
Then, at 5:15 PM, he will leave for Los Angeles.
There, Obama has two more events before he goes to bed, by the
looks of it, in LA.

Congress
Status Update Both houses ARE in session.

Senate Yesterdays vote in equal pay was a procedural one,

meaning 60 votes were needed to move the bill forward against
from a filibuster. The vote was 52-47, squarely across party lines,
with all Democrats voting for, and all Republicans against. That
means the Act will not be given an up or down vote on the floor.

Today In
1968 Today, exactly 44 years ago, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was
killed, while running for President. RIP.

Question of the Day

Yesterday, I asked how many U.S. Presidents entered their 90s.
The answerFOUR.
Norman Gordon of Mashpee, Massachusetts guessed two of the
Presidents: John Adams and Herbert Hoover, and Jeremy Cohen
guessed all four: John Adams, Herbert Hoover, Gerald Ford,
and finally, Ronald Reagan, whose death anniversary was
yesterday.
I told you youd be surprised, and perhaps you will be that John
Adams from the early 19th century, lived to be 90 years of age.
The longest-living President was Gerald Ford, who lived to be 93.
Now, both George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter are 87 and living,
so theres a big possibility they will both live to 90, and one of
them might break the record.
Good job!

Todays question is a Kennedy one! Together, how many years

have Kennedys served in Congress? Try a guess, and well see
who gets closest!
