ASSESSMENT 3: COURSEWORK - PROJECT OUTPUT: 30%

This assessment is in TWO parts (Group Report & Presentation and an
Individual Interview).

The first part is the Group Report 20%. Minimum of 3500

words
A) Teams will analyses eight HR strategies deployed by managers to gain
competitive advantage in the industry. The eight strategies should be linked
with ALL the Strategic Human Resource Management practices listed below;

Employee relations
The selected organization should be based in the UAE.
Prescribed Guideline for the Written Report - 20%
The written report must be original (not more than 20% referenced
material) paper written by the students.
Plagiarism Issue: Everything that is not your own work MUST be referenced.
Sections or areas that are copied but not referenced will NOT receive any
marks.
The report must be at least 3 pages and MUST include the following:
1. INTRODUCTION
Brief history of the company/organisation.
Vision, Goals and Objectives
Corporate Strategy (The direction and scope of the company over the
long term)
2. HR STRATEGIES How do the managers use the strategies below
to gain competitive advantage in the industry?
Analysis and design of work
HR planning
Recruiting

 Selection
Training and development
Compensation
Performance Management
Employee relations
You should have at least 8 long paragraphs (one long paragrapgh for each
strategy). You will not get full marks bullets points OR short sentences. Your
analysis must be supported with at least two relevant examples (sentences)
for each point. You will NOT get full marks for bullets points, short sentences,
incomplete explanations or any explanation without a relevant and correct
examples).
3. CONCLUSION: Sum up your analysis arguments and drawing
a conclusion about what you've been writing about. This includes noting any
implications resulting from your analysis, as well as recommendations,
forecasting future trends, and the need for further research.
4. REFERENCES:
The report should have the appropriate citation and referencing according to

Important:
a. The written report shall be checked using Safe Assign. A maximum of
20% sourced material is allowed.
b. Any report that has over 20% (up to 30%) sourced materials will get a
maximum grade of 50% only for the score allotted.
c. Over 30% sourced materials will be graded ZERO.

B) The second part is the Individual Interview 10%.

The second part of the assessment is a Group presentation but students

will be assessed individually.
Students will present and discuss their findings but will be assessed
individually.
The presentation should not be more than 20 minutes.
The presentation must be aided by power point slides with clip arts
or pictures.
The presentation must be done orally, without the use of any
reading materials.
Each student is given ONLY 3 minutes to answer 2 questions from the
Assessor.
