easy, hard, impossible, dangerous, safe, expensive y cheap:
Your writing is impossible to read.
Es imposible leer tu letra.
This water is safe to drink.
1. (Its) nice (of you) to...
Nice to meet you!
Encantado/a de conocerte.
Its nice of you to help me.

If I eat too much I get fat.
They get a promotion if they work well.
Obtienen un ascenso si trabajan bien.

Whether... Or
They will come into this house whether you like it or not.
We will go to the beach unless you have a better idea.
Provided that
You can arrive late provided that you dont wake anybody up.

He finishes work at 6. Its 5:30. He cant be at home.
Termina de trabajar a las 6. Son las 5:30. No puede estar en casa.
COULD

MUST
He finishes work at 6. Its 6:30, he must be at home.
Termina de trabajar a las 6. Son las 6:30, debe estar en casa.

You mustnt smoke here.

2. To be allowed to
When the prisoner asks for a solicitor he will be allowed to see
one.
Youre not allowed to use calculators in exams.
As can es el
She could pass her exam tomorrow because she has studied hard.
She could have passed her exam yesterday because she had
studied hard.
mucho.
Observe otro ejemplo:
He might be at home now. / A lo mejor est en casa ahora.
He might have been at home. / A lo mejor estaba en casa.
146
Ingls medio
Ed. 3.1
Unit 8
4. Suposicin
You havent eaten anything since 6 a.m. You must be hungry
(You can be hungry).
Debes tener hambre.
You have just had lunch. You cant be hungry (You mustnt be
hungry).
Acabas de almorzar. No puedes tener hambre.
Ejemplos:
I called him but he didnt answer. He must have gone out.
Le llam pero no contest. Tuvo que haber salido.
Tom crashed into a tree. He cant have been looking where he
was going.
She couldnt have seen me
Puede que no me viera

Vamos al cine!
Otra vez?
Me gustara hacer
algo diferente para cambiar!
Tienes toda la razn. Y si vamos a bailar?
Dnde?
No s. Donde sea que tengan msica.
S! Vamos a bailar! Buena idea!
algo y charlar.

Mara: No estoy mejorando mi ingls tanto como necesito.
Silvia: No te preocupes. Mejorar.

Silvia: Vale, necesitas trabajar mucho. Intenta leer y escuchar ms ingls.
Mara: Si viajara mucho conocera gente interesante.
Silvia: Y desde luego deberas estudiar ms gramtica.
