Our Purpose...
To reach people with the love of Jesus Christ, provide a safe and
supportive environment, proclaim the standards of Gods truth,
duplicate the Christian life in others, and celebrate the majesty
and works of Our Great God.

New to Salem Heights?

Welcome! We are glad youre here! We invite
you to seek out the folks wearing the Ask Me
badge. Through them you will find information
about the ministries of Salem Heights Church
and how to become involved. Please fill out a
Visitor Card and drop it in one of the offering
boxes as you leave or scan this code to go directly to our website
and fill out a visitor card. We have an excellent nursery and
programs for children newborn through high school. Any of the
ushers will be happy to direct you to the proper classroom. If
you feel more comfortable having your infant with you during
the service, the last row in the Auditorium will be reserved for
parents with small children. There is a private room for nursing
mothers across the hall from the Auditorium with a rocking chair,
changing table and portable crib. For your convenience, it also
includes a monitor to enable you to still hear and view the
service.

Be Careful to Check the Label

Luke 6:376:37-42
Presented by

Pastor Justin Greene

Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not
condemn and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will
be pardoned. Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour
into your lap a good measure-pressed down, shaken together,
and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be
measured to you in return. Luke 6:37-38

Giving Update
THE MINISTRY OF SALEM HEIGHTS CHURCH
The ministry of Salem Heights Church is funded entirely by the
generous giving of Gods people. You will notice that we do not
pass the offering plate; however, there are offering boxes in the
back of the auditorium. We have done this so no one gives out
of compulsion. We believe from the Word of God that the Spirit
of God will lead people towards giving back to God of their first
fruits. ...God loves a cheerful giver (2 Cor. 9:7) and we know
He blesses those who take His Word seriously in every regard.
Thank you for prayerfully supporting Salem Heights financially as
we desire to reach the lost and disciple the Saints.
(Prayerfully consider what the Lord would have you do.)

LUKE
Part 29
Luke 6:37-42
Be Careful to Check the Label
Presented by
Pastor Justin Greene
May 31, 2015
In the store recently I saw a bottle of juice with the
following description on its label:
Blueberry
Pomegranate, 100 percent juice, all natural [The
label featured a picture of a ripe pomegranate
and mounds of fat, perfect blueberries]. And then
I read the ingredients list: Filtered water, pear
juice concentrate, apple juice concentrate,
grape juice concentrate.
Where was the
blueberry? Where was the pomegranate? Finally
I found them, fifth and seventh on a list of nine
ingredients, after mysteriously unspecified natural
flavors.
By law, food ingredients are listed in descending
order of weight. That means a product contains
the greatest proportion of the first ingredient on
the list and successively less of those farther down.

So according to this list, the jug in my hand held

mostly water and other juices, with just enough
blueberry and pomegranate for flavor and color.
In the bottom corner of the front label, in small,
easy-to-miss type, were the tell tale words:
Flavored juice blend with other natural
ingredients. The enticing pictures and clever
labeling were decoys to sell a diluted, blueberrypomegranate flavored product, convincingly
disguised to look like something it wasnt. I put the
juice back on the shelf.
I left the store empty handed and wondering,
What if I had an ingredients list printed on me?
Would Jesus be the main ingredient? If not, how
far down the list would He be? Would my label
accurately represent my contents? Or would I
falsely project a misleading outward appearance
that cleverly masked diluted ingredients? My
packaging may be convincing. I may look and
sound like the real thing. But what if someone
came to me looking for Jesus beneath my
Christian label and found something else?
Something Jesus-flavored, but not Jesus-filled?

BACKDROP
In the Sermon on the Level, Christ tells His disciples that right
training will shape their:

 Perspective (6:20-26)

 Actions (6:27-36)

 Heart (6:37-42)

 Fruit (6:43-49)

STOP IT!
These verses are the most misquoted and under applied in
the Sermon on the Mount.

Judge

= To criticize ... emphasis on discrimination, not

discernment.

Condemn = To pronounce a sentence ... to jail someone.

Forgive = To release, unbind.

Give = Be generous.

How you look at the world comes back at you!

What if God forced you to eat what youre serving others?

HOW DO I CHANGE?
Jesus parables lead us to three questions:
1) Am I teachable?

2) Am I following the right Teacher?

3) Am I teaching others to trust truths I have not trusted?
