PERSONNEL JOB DESCRIPTION

PROCESS ENGINEER

REPORT TO :

Process Section Chief/ Engineering Manager

RESPONSIBILITY

Perform all design, engineering work and proposal work assigned to


the discipline as well as support to other disciplines as required in
the most and suitable manner with good quality and within the
estimated schedule.
Positively construct the Process Section better and better.
DUTIES

1. For project:
(a)

Execute Preliminary Engineering


Study licensers document, design conditions and technical
requirements.

(b)

Make clear ambiguous points with client

(c)

Prepare PFD / UFD

(d)

Prepare P&ID for planning.

(e)

Study Process Control philosophy

(f)

Perform process calculation


Material Balance
Heat Balance
Preliminary Piping Pressure Drop
Preliminary Equipment Rating

(g)

Produce process data


Equipment schedule (including Process Package Units)
Equipment data sheet and Process sketch
Line schedule
Instrument schedule
Motor schedule
Hazardous area requirement
Emergency power supply requirement
Static electrical release requirement

Schematic diagram
Utility facility (including Process Package Units)
Offsite facility

Develop Detail Engineering

(a)

Finalize equipment list with short specification

(b)

Equipment process design

Finalize equipment rating as well as technical requirement for


operation and maintenance

(c)

Process check
Re-check preliminary calculations. Revise if necessary.
Check operability for normal operation, start-up and emergency
shut-down

(d)

Finalize pipe line size

(e)

Finalize Process P&ID, Utility P&ID, Line Schedule

(f)

Prepare operation manuals

(g)

Review and check vendor document for process package unit

Prepare technical requirement for inspection and test

Review and check vendors documents relating to fabrication,


inspection and test

Witness the inspection and test as required by quality controller


Suggest technical measures in case of unconformity
Engineering services for construction

(a)

Prepare technical packages for installation work

(b)

Provide clarification of design, specification and other technical


requirements

(c)

Provide technical information and requirements for transportation,


installation, operation and maintenance.

(d)

Maintain close communication and coordination with the field and


be available for technical consultation

(e)

Perform critical inspection of the work as required by the field

(f)

Develop as built drawing to represent actual layout, routing and


installation.

Support to other disciplines as required.

2. For Proposal
-

Study technical documents and clarify ambiguous points with client


Execute preliminary engineering and provide information to other
disciplines for estimating the cost and for proposal technical book
Estimate man-hour for engineering work
Contact vendor/supplier to get quotations for package units
Complete cost estimation

3. For routine activities

Build technical database and vendor database to serve for project


and proposal.
Continuously collect and consolidate design materials system.
Continuously improve professional skill to increase design
productivity.
Participate in training activity

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENT
-

University graduated as Chemical engineer


English: level B
Computer skill: MS Office, Auto-Cad, some design application
software.
