2010

Event Details
Gravical is an annual climbing competition organized by the SMU climb team. This year, Gravical
is opening its doors to the public for the first time! Expect lots of heart pumping action as
Gravical brings to you new competition formats, more routes and awesome moves.

Competition Format

Novice (Women/ Men)


- Qualifiers will be held in a flash format where participants will climb in details of 10 to 15
(tentative) to complete 4-6 routes in 19 minutes.
- There would be no isolation. However, participants are to register and be present for
briefing and demo climb

Intermediate/Open (Women/ Men)


- Qualifiers will be conducted in rotation format
- Scoring will be in a bonus/top system

 Please fill up and submit the medical declaration and submit the indemnity form
below when you make payment or arrive at Gravical 2010.
 If you are below 18 yrs of age, please acquire the signature of your parent or legal
guardian on the indemnity form

Payment
 Gravical will be at $15 for student payment, $25 for public members early bird
payment (1st Feb 2010 to 1st March 2010). Event day payment will be $30for all.
 By Cash/ I-Banking
Please contact Kay Kham at 90123523 for payment by cash/I-banking 7 days before
the event day. A suitable place and time can be arranged.
 Money order and cash by mail will not be accepted
Rules and Regulations

 Competitors must be attired in the official competition T-shirt during their climb.
 Competitors must report punctually for their respective categories. Latecomers will be
disqualified.
 The organizers reserve the right to amend the rules and regulations without prior notice.
 Competitors will be briefed on the rules of the competition on the actual day itself.
 Registration without payment will be considered invalid. Participants who have not paid
will only be allowed to register during the event if there is excess capacity for the event
category.
 In order to qualify for Student prices, students have to produce their student pass along
with a letter from the school insurance stating coverage of outside school events. Failure
to produce the relevant documents would result in public prices being charged.
 Schedule of categories may be subjected to changes. Participants are to check their email
for the latest updates

GRAVICAL 2010 Eligibility Criteria


Novice Category
 The finalist of novice category or higher in any past climbing events cannot join this category.
 National climbers are not allowed to join this category.
 All students from Junior Colleges may take part in the Novice category in order to score points for
their school, however those who were Novice finalists before will not be allowed to proceed on to
the Novice finals.

Intermediate Category
 Experienced/Seasoned climbers should join this category.
 Top 3 winners of the Intermediate category and Finalists of the Open category in any past
climbing events cannot join this category.
 National climbers are not allowed to join this category.

Open Category
 Professional Climbers should join this category.
 All national climbers can only join this category.

** Note: The eligibility criteria are provided for each category. Participants in the wrong category will be disqualified
and moved to a higher category. International climbers would have to contact SMU climb team for category eligibility.
*SMU Climb Team reserves the right to utilize pictures taken of participants for the purposes of publicity, promotion
and post-event reports
***The Organizing Committee, SMU Climb Team, their sponsors, appointed staff and officials would under no
circumstances be held responsible for cancellation of the event due to unforeseen circumstances, OR accept
liability resulting from injury, whether fatal or otherwise of any participant or from damage to or loss of such
person’s property while participating in the event.

competent to participate in the Event; and
c. I shall dutifully and fully abide by the Rules and Regulations of this Event and any
applicable laws.
4. I confirm that the representations, warranties and undertakings above are true and
correct, and unconditionally and irrevocably undertake that I shall not in any way
whatsoever hold SMU or its servants or agents responsible for any losses, costs, or
damages (including consequential or incidental losses) resulting from damage to or loss
of any personal property or personal injury (save for personal injury or death resulting
from the negligence of SMU or its servants or agents) that may arise as a result of my
participation in the Event.
