JON McKILLIP

PRESIDENT OF GLOBAL SALES

e are in the business of growth in every

aspect of life. We believe that by opening up
a literal world of opportunity to you, we will
give you the ability to expand your horizons through
travel, achieve unbelievable prosperity and embark on
a journey of self-discovery. Now, were expanding that
goal further and faster than ever before.
In 2015, we are making a strong, concerted effort
to build our global brand, regionalize our business
and open up new worlds of opportunity for our
Representatives and members. As youll read in this
Voyager issue, we have a lot of exciting things happening
in the Asia-Pacific market. Were establishing our Asian
Regional Corporate Headquarters in Singapore, which
will enhance our business processes. Were opening up
training centers in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia,
and eventually in Taiwan and Thailand. Its just part of
our goal to open up the world to our Reps, one training
center at a time.

The more we do business in the Asia-Pacific region,

the more we have learned that direct sales is a way of
life in this culture. With every third person involved in
direct sales in many Asian countries, its no surprise
that more than half of our business comes from that
region. In Asian culture, turning down a friends direct
sales opportunity is unheard of. However, not sharing a
direct sales opportunity with a friend is considered an
insult! It makes for an incredibly bonded community of
people who rely on friends for many of the products they
purchase. Its a whole new way of living!
People in the Asia-Pacific region also see travel as a
group activity. The evidence of this is how quickly our
DreamTrips sell out in that part of the world. Families
and friends alike jump at the chance to engage in new
experiences together that cant be had anywhere else,
like riding an elephant to your hotel room!
Keep in mind, were not just expanding east. Weve got
plans in the works for growing in Europe, Africa and
North America. Were making worldwide travel a way
of life. We help you focus on whats important in your
life, and were doing it for all the right reasons. Were
expanding to build our brand. Were expanding to bring
more people into the fold. Were expanding to open up
new worlds of opportunity to our Reps and members.
But, most importantly, were expanding to do good, to
touch people and to change lives. And the best way for
us to do that is through you! So, as you continue to grow,
personally and professionally, remember to pull out that
blue banner and show people why they should be here.
Carrying the banner,

PRESENTED BY THE

WORLDVENTURES
TRUST COUNCIL

early 10 years ago, WorldVentures

created a career platform for personal
development and successwhat we like
to call living fun, freedom and fulfillment.
Whether you want to create memories while
trekking the globe or experience financial
freedom, we are providing Reps with ample
opportunities to discover whats really
important to them while emphasizing their
value in the world.

Although its possible for anyone to succeed

with WorldVentures, we are aware that the
most fruitful results come from a variety of
characteristics. Some people have natural
abilities that lend themselves to success, but
its important to note that most skills must be
learned. Repetition, practice and dedication
are critical traits to have in this industry.
And that is why the Trust Council is
spearheading the WorldVentures and You
campaign as a hallmark in our culture.
This campaign was created to set standard
expectations for all Representatives. A
personal video message is provided as part
of the welcome experience, and it speaks
openly about what it takes to reach different
accomplishment levels.
As a WorldVentures employee and
representative of the Trust Council, my
responsibility is to ensure you are able to
thoroughly develop your professional skills.
Our training programs and yearly events

provide Reps with unique tools for selling our

products, as well as building a solid sales force.
In keeping with our third core value, Honor,
Embody and Expand Trust, I fully believe the
key to success lies in perseverance and keeping
an open mind.
Rest assured that victory with WorldVentures
does not always equate to financial profit;
rather, it can lead to multiple ways of reaping
other benefits and rewards. This is why the
Trust Council was createdto help you make
smart decisions, personally and professionally.
Since the companys global commitment is
to Corporate Social Responsibility, the Trust
Council aims to achieve WorldVentures
ultimate aspiration of becoming the mosttrusted name in the direct-selling industry.
The Trust Council does so by advancing
company practices and behaviors that align
with our core values, so we can provide the
best culture experience.
Please contact your sponsor or a leader on
your team to talk through any inquiries you
may have. If you need further assistance
or want to send us suggestions, comments
or issues related to trust, contact us at

WITH KEITH BROWN

BY COURTNEY ROUSH
ow does one follow in the footsteps of Co-founder
and Chief Visionary Officer Wayne Nugent to live a
heightened spiritual, emotional, physical, intellectual
and financial existence and truly become a Master in the Art of
Living? If youre like Keith Brown, you begin by following your
God-given instincts, trusting the people who are important
to you and who have made such a difference in your life, and
embracing travel and letting each experience shape you.
Traveling the globe was nothing more than a dream to Keith
back in 2010, when he was driving a bus for the Chicago Transit
Authority and working six days a week for $30 an hour. It was
a position hed held for nearly 13 years. He was a success in his
own right, but living under the punch in, punch out mentality,
as he refers to it. Still, it was enough to get by, especially when
combined with his other job as a singer in a five-man group
that wanted to be the next New Edition, he says. The group
did well, entertaining audiences from 1987 to 2008. And yet,
there wasnt any time or financial freedom in Keiths immediate
future, and certainly no exotic vacations.

11

Raised in Chicagos Englewood neighborhood,

a crime-infested area on the citys south side,
Keith grew up with the loving influence of his
grandmother, mother, aunt, two uncles and a
brother under the same roof. It was a close-knit
family. Were still close to this day, Keith says.
His gives his grandmother, the matriarch, credit
for keeping him and his brother out of the trouble
that was right outside their front door.
Keith had no plans to leave his job as a bus
driver and felt lucky to survive a round of
major layoffs in 2010. Unfortunately, Keiths
less-tenured co-worker and friend, William
Collins, was let go. When Keith empathized
with William for his loss, William said he
wasnt worried; he still had residual income
that would sustain him. Intrigued, Keith asked
William to tell him more. Soon after, Keith
found himself at Williams house, where
Williams mentor, Roscoe Taylor, told him all
about the WorldVentures opportunity. As Keith
listened to the presentation, he admits that all
of Roscoes talk about earnings potential and
travel to faraway destinations seemed too good
to be true. But this part really stuck with me:
Roscoe told me Im going to be with you step
by step. I figured if the vacation part of this
was real, why wouldnt I try it?
So Keith decided to give WorldVentures a shot.
He jokingly told William that if this isnt for
real, I know where you live. But he knew to
trust his friend, and was glad he did. It took
me less than a week to sign up six friends,
he says. And when Keith saw the first direct
deposit into his bank account as a result of
his efforts, he had no more doubts. From that
point on, his excitement was contagious.

I grew fast because I found people who were

a lot better than me, he says. Within three
months, Keith was a Senior Representative;
three months later, he was a Director; and
nine months after that, a Regional Marketing
Director. Thirteen months after signing his
agreement with WorldVentures, Keith left his
bus-driving days behind, but he never took
his foot off the gas with his WorldVentures
business. He became an International
Marketing Director on March 1, 2015.
Along the way, he was inspired by visionary and
the Master in the Art of Living himself, Wayne
Nugent, not to mention high-ranking mentors
like Dr. David Pietsch, Troy Brown and others
who came to Chicago to teach others in the
WorldVentures organization how to grow their
business. Thats my favorite core value in this
businessWe Are One Big Team. That means
helping people whether you benefit financially
or not, he says. Keith has gotten to where he
is today following the tenet of being a servant
leader, and Waynes directive to live better and to
become better in every aspect of his life.
Mykonos, Greece, was Keiths first
DreamTrip. I wanted to go big and convince
others that WorldVentures was the real
deal, he says. Anyone can go to Vegas.
Nobody in my neighborhood was going
to Mykonos! And I had a phenomenal
time. His favorite DreamTrip, he says,
was his adventure to Dubai in 2014
with 28 of his teammates. During all
of the tours and excursions they
enjoyed, everyone took plenty of
photos and videos and posted
them on social media. When

we got back from Dubai, Keith says, we saw

a major explosion in our team. Social media
is very powerful. Ive learned that I cant just
run my mouth about WorldVentures; I have
to show it.
Keith talks about his strategy with each
new Representative. I dont assume that
everyone wants to be stinking rich, he
says, but 95 percent of them want the
lifestyle, and Ill tell them exactly what it
takes. Theres no instant gratification. I
teach them exactly what I was taught. Share
this opportunity with three to five people
a day consistently every day for a year.
Plug into every training event. The more
people you help, the more you help yourself.
Dedicate a season of your life to your
business, and in a years time, youll have
options in your life. Keith makes it a nonnegotiable to attend national events every
three months; it recharges my batteries,
energizes me and reminds me of the big
picture, he says.
We get more nos than we think were going to
get, he continues, and then too many times,
we lie down and dont get up. The minute you
deviate from the plan, you lower the bar for
yourself. Plan long term; this is a three- to-fiveyear mission. And its not really a major sacrifice.
After all, Id been a bus driver for 14 years. Time
is going to pass, anyway. Dont take your foot off
the gas. Make the most of it.

Today, he happily says that I dont know the

difference between work and play. Living rich to
him means being able to maintain his previous
lifestyle, but without setting an alarm clock. I
was never really concerned with making $30,000
or $40,000 a month, he says. I just wanted to
make residual income without having to lift my
head off the pillow. And he walks the talk; Keith
still lives in the eastside Chicago condo where he
lived prior to joining WorldVentures. His focus is
on providing generational wealth for his 19-yearold son and being able to help others on my
team quit their jobs, move up in this organization
and travel to new areas. I want to see everyone
win. I love seeing their excitement when they get
that first paycheck.
In that same pay it forward manner consistent
with every inspired WorldVentures leader and
Master in the Art of Living before him, Keith
travels the country, training and motivating others
both in and out of his own organization to follow
in the footsteps of Wayne Nugent and to take the
journey toward genuine fulfillment. It means
nothing if only one of us is an IMD, he says. It
means much more if several of us reach that level.
Keiths goal is to reach Double IMD by the end of
the summer, and welcome three more IMDs within
his own organization in the near future.
I dont see myself slowing down because
this is not a job. WorldVentures truly is a
personal development company disguised as
a travel company.

15

LIVING THE

CORE VALUE
CORE VALUE #3: HONOR, EMBODY AND EXPAND TRUST

Be authentic and transparent. Be congruent in thought, words and deeds. Be accountable and responsible. Everyone is responsible and no
one is to blame. Keep promises and honor commitments. Strive to build a reputation of exceeding expectations. Only represent the truth.

16

rust though it has no

monetary value, it is the most
precious of gifts. And whether
given or received, it leaves you
both vulnerable and empowered.
After all, no other virtue can
simultaneously build, when upheld,
and destroy, if betrayed. Thats
why International Marketing
Directors Denny and Susy Andrian
of Singapore embrace trust as the
guiding principle in their personal
and professional lives.
As WorldVentures Representatives,
we are implored to honor, embody
and expand trustto be authentic,
transparent and congruent in
thought, words and deeds,
Denny explains. One of the ways
we uphold this core value is by
understanding and reminding
ourselves that trust is the most
important foundation of our life.

UES
WITH

DENNY AND SUSY

ANDRIAN
BY FELICIA FULLER

Trust is the bedrock of

WorldVentures, Denny adds,
referring to a widely posted
open letter from Co-founder
Mike Azcue in October 2012.
In the correspondence titled
WorldVenturesA Next Generation
Direct Seller, Mike congratulates
the global team on achieving the
largest selling month in company
history, and then he issues an
impassioned refresher on the
guiding principles that got them
theretruth, transparency and,
above all, trust.
We want WorldVentures to be
the most-trusted name in direct
selling, Mike writes. A big,
audacious goal perhaps, but we
believe it is within our reach. A
major pillar in our core values,
trust, to me, is the sum of all we
doour willingness to be up-front
with the truth; our open and
mystery-free structure and culture;
our commitment to learn from our
mistakes and improve every day.
Most of all, you can trust us to care
deeply about our company, our
good word, our promises to keep.

financially, and God answered our

prayer, Denny recalls. People are
searching for hope and looking
for ways to change and improve
their financial life. By becoming
Representatives, we realized that
we could become the messengers
of hope to these people. We are
grateful that he took the time to
My wife is the planner and Im
the executor, Denny says. We
are growing much more in our
characters as we stretch ourselves
to serve others in achieving their
dreams. WorldVentures creates a
positive atmosphere. Our family
and kids are excited and proud to
see us become influential and be
a blessing to others. Our legacy
to our kids is to honor God in
everything we do. We believe in
God and his promises, and God has
heard and answered our prayer
through WorldVentures. We have
tried our best to make sure our
lives are worth living by becoming
messengers of hope, by touching
peoples lives and by sharing hope
with those who are searching for
ways to change and improve their
financial lives.
Circling back to the subject of
trust, he says their growth strategy
is based upon a discipleship
relationship, in which well-trained
veterans mentor newcomers and
hold them accountable for following
the system. The success of the
pairing requires reliance upon one
anothers integrity, character and
commitment. Denny likens it to
the symbiotic way in which ants
build coloniesdiligently and
cooperatively. When adversity arises
and colonies collapse, the ants
regroup and rebuild.
By behaving in ways that build
trust with one, you build trust
with many, Denny says, quoting a
passage from Stephen Coveys bestseller, Speed of Trust. The book
continues, I know it is possible

not only to restore trust but to

actually enhance it. The difficult
things that we go through with
the important people in our
lives can become fertile ground
for the growth of enduring
trusttrust that is actually
stronger because its been tested
and proved through challenge.
When morale wanes, Denny
reminds his team to keep
dreaming and working to
fulfill their purposetheir
Why. Quoting James 4:14, he
says, Life is short. My favorite
book says: Yet you do not
know what your life will be like
tomorrow. You are just a vapor
that appears for a little while
and then vanishes away.
The moral of this message:
Seize every moment to make
an impact.
We believe in God and his
promises. Our lives are in Gods
hands, thus, he is in charge
of our lives, Denny shares.
This belief influences our life
and business a great deal. We
must not rely on our strength
alone, but we must have faith in
God. God has a specific calling
in our lives, and business is
only one of the aspects of that
calling. As we shared before,
WV is the answer to our prayer,
and to show our appreciation
to him who gave the gift, we
take care and build the gift. We
also believe that God knows
our capacity in building it, so
we believe he gives us grace,
wisdom, favor and strength in
growing the business every day.
We sow the seeds, and he causes
the growth. We are only the
messengers of the answers, for
those who have been praying
for help. Its such an honor
and privilege to be his partner
in touching lives through the
business. All the promotion is
for his glory.

Such corporate integrity is what

ultimately inspired Denny and
Susy to become WorldVentures
Representatives two years ago.
The couple first learned of the
opportunity from a friend who
happened to work as a senior vice
president for a multinational bank.
Presuming he must know a thing
or two about fiscal integrity, Denny
decided to lend a listening ear.
We had been praying for a vehicle
or platform that could bless people

Denny and Susy with their children

uring his career as a financial planner,

Max Tay found that market performance
was a poor determinant of long-term
success. Though it countered everything he
learned in business school, he discovered that
adaptability and attitude were what really
mattered. Now after years of helping others
secure their future through fiscal planning, Max
is applying past lessons learned in his current
role as a WorldVentures IMD.
I strongly believe direct sales is one of the
best business models in the whole world, and
WorldVentures is the chosen one among so
many to help more average, committed people
to be financially and time free, says Max, today
a self-described professional tourist.
Going from corporate finance to direct sales
may seem like a stretch, but Max exhibited
entrepreneurial drive early in life. After
graduating from Monash University in
Melbourne and spending a stint in information
technology, he struck out on his own and
dabbled in a variety of ventures from health
food to housewares.
I was chasing my dream of financial and time
freedom, he shares.
Though his dream ultimately became reality,
Maxs rise was far from meteoric. Rather, it
came slowly after years of personal investment
and profound highs and lows. His foray into
direct sales came in 2002, following convincing
spiels by competitors hawking proverbial
lotions, potions and pills. One such company
persuaded him to test the waters, and though
doubt simmered just below the surface, Max
jumped in feet first and worked the business full
time from the start. But after six years and only
USD$400 a month in average earnings, he made
the difficult decision to re-join the safe, albeit
stodgy, corporate ranks.

20

The move proved lucrative, though. Max became

a highly sought-after financial advisor and
earned a seat at the Million Dollar Round Table
as a wealth architect at IPP Financial Advisers,
an SME 500 firm in Singapore. Yet despite his
success, something seemed conspicuously
amiss. Max still longed for a new challenge that
would allow him to work and live on his own
terms. As if on cue, his neighbor and associate
Dr. Wu Yi Che began sharing information about
a direct sales company called WorldVentures
that he had recently joined. Dr. Wus initial pitch
was intriguing, but Max remained apprehensive
given his earlier experiences in the industry.
He tried inviting me three times before I
agreed to meet up, he recalls. Honestly, when
I saw this, I wasnt into travel. I knew a lot of
my friends were into holidays and vacations,
but not me. I just saw a very simple and fun
platform that could help a lot of people to be
free. Setting more people free is my mission in
life, and I saw WorldVentures as a perfect fit to
achieve that.
With that mission in mind, Max became a
WorldVentures Representative on Jan. 31, 2011.
For the first 24 months, he proceeded with
caution and maintained his full-time job while
working the business part time. Then in January
2013, almost two years from the date he signed
up, he transitioned to full time.

PRINCIPAL PARTNERS
Today, Max and his wife, Jenifer, work
the business together under the moniker
Paycations Pte. Ltd. The motto and principal
purpose of their organization is to set more
people free from the restrictions and rigors of
traditional work. Max says his recent promotion
to IMD has only renewed the couples resolve to
reach more people.
My wife and I are a team. She takes care of the
fun and family while I take care of the team
building, he explains. This is crucial to our
business and we wouldnt have achieved todays
result without her involvement.
Max and Jenifer join the likes of James Lee,
Hong Fan, Cynthia Koh and others who are
promoting WorldVentures in the island nation
of Singapore. And with its highly developed
and successful freemarket economy,

Singapore is optimally positioned for

prospecting. For the ninth consecutive
year, the World Bank selected Singapore as
the country with the worlds best business
environment. There is an emerging
infrastructure to support entrepreneurship
in the region, including a business-friendly
environment and a concerted effort by the
government to lift regulatory limitations.
Furthermore, travel is booming as noted by
a 2014 Oxford Economics report predicts
travel industry growth will outpace the
global economy over the next 10 years. The
report, which was commissioned by the travel
agency Amadeus, attributes the expansion
to emerging markets in Asia and other
countries, including India, Russia and Brazil.
Of particular note, Asia is expected to account
for just over half of the growth in global
business travels in the next 10 years.

"Setting more people free is my mission in life,

and I saw WorldVentures as a perfect
fit to achieve that.

His advice to company newcomers: Follow
the system laid down by your team and go to
WorldVentures training events. The successful
uplines and trainers already know what you will
face in this business. My mentor always says,
The shortest path between two destinations
is a straight line. So just follow that line. Why
bother to try to reinvent the wheel?

Asked to detail their growth strategy, Max

says their system is simple and founded on
tenets touted by his mentor, WorldVentures
International Director of Training Marc
Accetta: Within 24 hours, new Reps should
have a Getting Started training to help them
close their first membership sale within 48
hours using two-on-ones, travel parties or live
presentations, Max recounts. The whole focus
for a new Rep is to invite. We will present, close
and train for them. Only with this laser focus
can we set more people free.
Max also recommends that all Reps stay
around the campfire by attending weekly live
presentations and monthly Super Saturday
trainings, along with other WorldVentures
events. He advocates the use of standard
presentation slides, training materials and tools
to yield consistent and predictable results. Like
most of his colleagues, he teaches his team the
power of duplicationa direct-selling precept
based on the idea that a sound system can be
copied by anyone to achieve the same results.
WorldVentures is a long-term business, hence,
the need for a system to ensure sustainability,
stability and longevity, he says. That is why
we strongly believe in having a simple and
duplicable system. The sponsor, who acts as a
coach or mentor, literally has a vested interest
in the new Reps success.

He continues: As my mentor, Marc Accetta,

would say, Pay attention, get excited and never
quit. He augments that advice with the fourth
of five key takeaways from Co-founder Wayne
Nugents widely quoted tips on earning the rank
of IMD:
Massive ActionI will do today what others
won't, to have tomorrow what others don't.
When times get tough, you either give up or
saddle up. What you lack in skill, you make
up for in effort. And when you work hard
consistently, you end up getting mastery and
you develop unconscious competence.
If you combine both (Marc and Waynes
advice), you will definitely get the results you
are looking for in WorldVentures, Max says.
Of the vast marketing tools available, he
endorses them all, with particular emphasis on
www.vacationsooner.com, the You Should Be
Here (YSBH) video series, Voyager magazine
and website banners.
We leverage a lot of YSBH international
videos for presentations, he says. Once
they are Reps, I usually give them a YSBH
banner and a Voyager magazine to give them
the right information about WorldVentures.
After that, we use the Vacation Sooner-Getting
Started format to train our Reps on how to
invite. We advocate for all Reps who are
serious about WorldVentures to subscribe
to the WorldVentures Advantage program
for self-improvement.

25

IN GREAT DEMAND
Within the next year, Maxs goal is to assist
more than 100 people in achieving the rank
of Marketing Director. His five-year endeavor
is to help more than 1,000 people achieve
financial and time freedom. When probed
to expound on his vision for the future and
what he considers his greatest accomplishment
to date, Max reveals they are virtually one
and the same.
Our biggest accomplishment with
WorldVentures is being able to help average
committed individuals achieve the dreams of
their life, he says.
Max cites the successes of specific members
of his team. First, he says, Rainer and
Angelika, with no direct sales experience,
achieved IMD after three years. Apple
Tee, also with no direct sales or business
experience, was able to sack her boss as an
auditor to become a professional tourist after
two-and-a-half years.

26

Added to that number is Millie Leung, whose

accomplishments in WorldVentures allowed
her husband to retire two-and-a half years into
her tenure with the company, despite no prior
direct sales or business experience. Then theres
Mike Soh, who fulfilled his dreams of being a
professional tourist after two-and-a-half years.
Like Leung, his financial accomplishments
allowed his spouse to retire.
Many more stories like these define my biggest
achievements in WorldVentures, Max says.
When I am down, I always remind myself of
my life missionset more people freeto keep
myself motivated.
So how does he motivate his team to get up and
get down to business every day?
Honestly, I am not a natural motivator, but
WorldVentures gave me a fantastic solution
the WorldVentures training events. I simply
make sure that we have asked everyone on the
team to go to the training events, he says.

Promoting these events has become an

essential part of what we do. On top of that,
we recommend that each Rep attends the
weekly live presentation so that they can see,
feel and hear live testimonials to keep their
fire burning.
He pauses, and then continues: Having my
life mission set is the best thing that could
have happened to me. Going to weekly live
presentations and hearing new testimonials
remind me of the value of this business, and, of
course, going to our monthly Super Saturday
Training and other WorldVentures events keeps
my fire burning.
His fire burns brightest when he considers
how much his wife, Jenifer, and daughter,
Andrea, mean to him, and the magnitude of his
responsibility to safeguard their future. This
realization inspires him to push past obstacles
and objections in pursuit of his goal. That
goal, as he defines it, is less about money and
more about time. Money is merely a means to

an endleverage for achieving his ultimate

objective to enjoy life without limits in the
company of those he loves most.
It sounds clichd, he concedes, but Living rich
means having fun, freedom and fulfillment.
As he reflects on a recent DreamTrip he took
with Jenifer and Andrea, he adds, We had lots
of fun doing the things we love to do, spending
quality time together and exercising our
freedom to choose what to do.
A highlight of that experience was slipping
out to the pool with Andrea on a Tuesday
afternoon while Jenifer enjoyed a massage
at the spa. He also discovered the added
fulfillment of making memories with
the extended family he has found
within WorldVentures.
Prior to joining WorldVentures, when I
was a financial adviser in Singapore, going
on one to two holidays a year was a luxury,
he says. You wouldnt expect your financial

adviser to keep going on holidays, right?

Now, my wife and I go on holiday when we
choose, and most of the expenses are paid
through the company travel bonus program.
Prior to WorldVentures, I led a pretty boring
life, but I now have a group of friends who
really care and love to have fun.

Asked what, if anything, he would change about

his WorldVentures experience, he offers this: I
would have promoted the WorldVentures events
even more aggressively, right from the start.
The secret sauce of our success is events. So
if I would have put even more people into the
events, I strongly believe that even more people
would be free!

Beyond that, he says, Seeing our team

achieving the success theyve always
wanted in their life is my favorite part of
the business. The only other element that
comes close are the opportunities to give
back to society through fundraising and
service projects, including VolunTours.

In closing, Max says his greatest hope is that his

child will one day share his commitment to help
others achieve true fulfillment. Unlike many
children of privilege, their birthright cant be
calculated. It must be cultivated.

As enthusiastic as he is about WorldVentures,

he concedes it hasnt been easy or always
glamorous. There are, of course, the
granular administrative details associated
with running a business. Then theres
the continuous affront to the ego that
all marketing professionals face when
confronted with objections.

A lot of people think that my children will

inherit our IMD account and the answer is, No.
In fact, most of the income generated from the
IMD account is going to charity, he declares.
The legacy that I will leave for my children
would be my life teachings and the mission
of setting more people free. Money, once you
spend it, is gone forever, whereas knowledge
and a sense of mission will last a lifetime.

Outgrow
Your
How

Potential
by Leif v Reing

28

here is a quiet battle waging in your house. The combatants

arent using high-tech weapons or communications gear. They
are fighting over valuable territory and resources. This struggle
offers a powerful metaphor about what it takes to succeed beyond what
you believe you are capable of. The battle is happening deep in the
vermiculite-sprinkled soil of your houseplants.

We can either look at the challenges in

our lives as limitations or recognize that
constraints are vital; without them, we are left
structurelessexposed and weak. In practice,
constraints drive growth, forcing us to seek
new resources and solutions.

It begins when you plant a seed or first place a tiny sprout into a dirtfilled pot. The plant has plenty of room. The roots stretch through the
soil, funneling nutrients and water back to the main plant. All seems
peaceful. Soon the root system has spread throughout the entire pot. As
each delicate living thread touches the walls of the pot, they turn aside,
seeking a new route.

Constraints eventually need to be swapped out

for new ones. Life is a series of constraints, the
most obvious is time. Others include money,
skill, energy, vision and failure.

Before long, the root system is bound up in itself. With nowhere left to
grow, it wilts from stress and shortage of fresh soil. And the pot feels
no mercy; content to keep the ever-expanding plant contained within
its terra-cotta walls. The plant will do everything in its power to reach
beyond the limitations, the constraints of the pot.
If left untended, the plant will dieunless a caring gardener should come
along and repot the plant. This battle illustrates the struggle every
person faces when attempting to unlock his or her full potential. Read how
Maria Popova, founder of the excellent website Brainpickings.org puts it:
A growth mindset, on the other hand, thrives on challenge and sees
failure not as evidence of unintelligence but as a heartening springboard
for growth and for stretching our existing abilities.
Here are a few strategies that you can learn from the growth mindset of
the houseplant and its battle for life.

RECOGNIZE YOUR CONSTRAINTS

It doesnt take long for a plant to reach into every corner of the pot. On
one hand, the walls are solid, they limit growth. On the other hand, the pot
provides structure for the soil, helping to retain water and protecting the
roots from pests and other damaging factors.

CHANGE YOUR ENVIRONMENT

As you intentionally pursue a growth

mindset, youll find yourself bumping into
the walls. Always seek the edges of your
environment. If you find yourself feeling
frustrated, thats a good sign. You may be
outgrowing your pot.

OCCUPY NEW TERRITORY

Growth builds on growth. You have to start
small to get bigger. However, the most
insidious enemy is complacency, not the pot
at all. When you feel comfortable in your
environment, you stop exploring outside your
comfort zone.
Unlike plants, the human mind and its potential
are unknowable, virtually limitless. You cant
possibly imagine what you are capable of until
you push past what you are confident in.
When you reach your limit, keep going.
Dig deeper in yourself. You will be
surprised at the strength of character
that lies rooted there.

id you know there is one trait that

makes children inherently better at
traveling and taking vacations than

adults? No, it isnt a lack of responsibility or

carefree nature.

Its deeper.
Children have near-insatiable curiosity. The
act of learning is no more a chore than falling
down a water slide. In fact, they lack the ability
to distinguish work from play. They are little
masters in the art of living, sponging up every
new experience, loving every minute.
Adults travel for relaxation, entertainment and

inspiration. But years of school and growing

up cause us to see the act of learning as the
opposite of fun.
It is this self-imposed limitation, usually
mistaken for maturity, that prevents us from
truly embracing the expansive lessons and
ideas that other cultures can teach us.
As Mark Twain put it, Travel is fatal to
prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness,
and many of our people need it sorely on
these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable
views of men and things cannot be acquired by
vegetating in one little corner of the earth all
ones lifetime.
What follows are 10 life lessons or
discoveries from 10 countries where
WorldVentures is spreading its holistic vision
of work, play and travel.
Heres to learning something new before your
inner grownup makes it feel like work!

1. MALAYSIA

In this gem of southeast Asia, located on the southernmost part of the

continent, there is a people group called the Orang Asli, or original
people. They are literally the natives amongst a national medley of
Muslims, Indians and other immigrants.
The Orang Asli believe that while sleeping, a persons soul or semangat
journeys abroad. Your dreams are the record of this journey. Of course,
this is a double-edged idea. Sometimes the only thing that makes a
nightmare tolerable is the reassurance that it isnt real. Meanwhile,
that dream in Tahiti? You spend every waking minute wishing it was.
In either case, when you think of your dreams as a second life, you have
twice the opportunities to learn and expand your mind. Plus, you cant
get your travel visa revoked.

2. SINGAPORE

Separated from mainland Malaysia by little more than a seawater

channel, Singapore has an identity and culture distinct from its neighbor.
As a sovereign city-state and the fourth-largest financial center in the
world, Singapore could easily have become a concrete island.
This is not the case. Beginning in 1963 with the initiative of the first
prime minister, Lee Kuan Yew, urban sprawl has been tastefully balanced
with green spacevirtually a City in a Garden. In practice, the parks of
the main island are networked with walking and bicycle paths, leaving
little distinction between city beginning and park ending.
For a country that knows how to get business done, this serves as a
powerful reminder of balancing the priorities of work and life. And it is
visible from the potted plants on high-rise balconies to the protected
rainforest preserve of Bukit Timah.

3. HUNGARY

Planted solidly between Austria and Romania, this former Soviet

satellite state is flush with some of the best wine, architecture and
cuisine in Europe.

4. MALTA

Floating comfortably in the Mediterranean between Sicily and Tunisia,

the islands of Malta are famous for the honey produced by their unique
strain of bees as well as a haven for corsairs from a variety of nations.

That said, 40 years of communist rule have left their mark as well.
Hungarians are notoriously clever at discovering the little gate, or loophole as we might say in the West. So much so, that it is said a Hungarian
can follow you into a revolving door and emerge ahead.
In practice, the use of the little gate is more about seeking out
unconventional solutions to challengesa trait evinced by the high
number of Nobel laureates to come from Hungary, 13 all told since 1905.

Offering an ideal harbor for merchants and pirates alike, Malta seems to
capture a little piece of every culture to set foot ashore, without losing its
own sense of things. Visitors often remark on the easy pace of life, as well
as the idyllic weather and beaches.
By learning to profit from the hard labor of others (pirates and honeybees
both fall in this category), the people of Malta show that it is possible to
enjoy the finer things in life without working yourself to the bone.

5. RUSSIA

When you think of Russia, perhaps you think furry hats, vodka, snow
and any number of other cultural touchstonesits a big country with a
colorful history.
What you may not think of is the excellence of their bathing traditions.
Yes. As in the banya or cleansing steam bath. This ritual takes place in
wooden houses equipped with stoves for generating steam. One enters
in the nude holding a bundle of tree branches called venik. The venik is
used to multiply the benefits of the steam through massage (otherwise
known as hitting yourself with a bundle of twigs). Afterward, you
conclude with an invigorating plunge into a nearby body of cold water.
Whatever else can be said about this style of bathing, there is no
disputing its power to stimulate the mind and body. Not to mention that
much of Russias important business dealings coincide with a visit to the
banya. A banya a day keeps the doctor away (and the banker happy).

7. AUSTRIA

Next time you find yourself guzzling a double tall latte, take a moment to forget the
green-clad barista who crafted it, and imagine yourself in Vienna, Austria, in the 1680s.

8. IRELAND

West of Madagascar and just north of South Africa, Zimbabwe boasts an ancient history
and remarkable traditions that continue to thrive in modern times.

Some of the countries on this list carry no stereotypes for the average reader. Alas,
Ireland is quite the opposite, e.g., St. Patricks Day, four-leaf clovers, leprechauns and
Tom Cruises regrettable accent in the movie Far and Away. Its a pity. Irish culture is
far richer in truth and fairytale than most people realize.

One of these stems from the name of the country itselfZimbabwe means the house
in stone in the Shona language. One of the most famous landmarks is called the Great
Zimbabwe, a mortar-less stone structure that legend puts in the domain of the Queen
of Sheba.
This skill with stonework endures today in the hands of the Shona people and their
stone sculptors. Which goes to show that what you build today may create a lasting
legacy for your descendants, so take the time to build it well.

Defeated Ottoman Turks left bags of unroasted coffee beans in their retreat. An Austrian
officer whod tasted coffee as a POW in Turkey recognized the rich prize and capitalized
on it. To this day, Austria boasts kaffehuser (coffee houses) that once put caffeine to
veins of great minds like Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud.
Those first sacks of raw beans were nearly thrown away, dismissed as camel food. It
took a keen eye and mind to see the opportunity hidden in the burlap sack. Always be
prepared to seize the moment, and you may uncover the worlds next great addiction.

One of the great legends tells of Fionn mac Cumhaill (or MacCool) and how he acquired
a treasure by being bad at cooking fish. In the story, Fionn is being mentored by the
mystical poet and druid Finnegas. Finnegas had spent seven years trying to catch the
Salmon of Knowledgewhoever caught and ate the salmon would be imbued with all
the worlds knowledge.
Finally successful, Finnegas gave the fish to Fionn to cook, during which Fionn dripped
hot salmon fat on his thumb. Licking his thumb to quell the pain, he accidentally
absorbed the creatures power, also preventing Finnegas from doing the same.
Fionns good fortune came as a product of his service to his mentor, which shows that
even a crumb falling from the masters table may have the power to transform your life.

9. AUSTRALIA

As with the Irish, it is easy to settle on stereotypes of Australians and their culture.
A little digging reveals big surprises. Namely, that research suggests that Australian
Aborigines have maintained the longest continuous culture outside of Africa45,000 to
70,000 years.
One of the most important pillars of Aborigine culture is the concept of Dreamtime, a
timeless mode that blends heroic legend, creation myth and ancestral identity. It blurs
the lines between history telling and history makingits all happening simultaneously.
Dreamtime or Dreaming also provides a framework to instruct social behavior and
responsibility. Because the Australian landscape is woven into the fabric of these stories,
environmental stewardship is a major theme.
With modern society caught up in a digital Age of Information, in which our entire
lives become disassociated from the land, Dreamtime serves as a valuable reminder
that humanitys most enduring contributions are remembered in story and song, not
1s and 0s.

10. PUERTO RICO

10

Of the institutions that originate in the Americas, it would appear that athletic
competition in the form of a ball game is chief among them.
The Tano natives who greeted Christopher Columbus in 1492 had a highly organized
society. The various Tano tribes played a game called batey. The game involved a solid
rubber ball that could be struck with various parts of the body, but not the hands. It was
played on rectangular courts located throughout the island.
The Tano used batey for recreation and as a non-military method of conflict resolution.
Chiefs would also place wagers on the outcome of the game. So it seems that the
American obsession with settling differences on the sports field is rooted in the
traditions of its earliest native peoples.

ach night, we pack up every joy and triumph, fear and failure, and take
a journey of self-evaluation known as dreaming. More than an echo
of the days events, dreams are a renewal of the mind and spirit; they
are manifestations of belief where deep-set symbols draw from the complexion of
our character and the archive of our pathology. Each night, in a world we create, our
intelligence and sensibility are thrown on stage in an improvisation that reflects who
we are and what we are capable of. A dream is a mirror of the mind that allows us to
face ourselves and, with gratitude, accept what we see.

35

UNITED brings together Representatives from around

the world to spread awareness, not by force or
revolution but through joy and evolution.
36

If dreams are shaped by our emotions and aspirations, is

it so far-fetched to believe our mindset can also shape the
world around us?
If you were at UNITED this year, you witnessed
WorldVentures biggest event to date and became part of a
movementone that is positive and uplifting and aspires
to allow people to dream and to fulfill those dreams every
day; one that accepts you just the way you are; one that is
present, confident, collaborative and adaptive, seeking to
renew perspectives and improve the quality of life of
people worldwide.
Each year, UNITED brings together Representatives from
around the world to spread awareness, not by force or
revolution but through joy and evolution. Those who
made it to Kansas City saw the very heart of our company
and understood that what were doing is more than an
opportunity to earn income; it is a way of life.
WorldVentures is common ground. For us, the world
is not divided or divisive, driven by gossip, spectacle,
limited beliefs and one-upmanship. Rather, it is a place of
acknowledgement and celebration, where we come together
and lift each other up; where our origins are the basis of
our originality; where we are valued for our uniqueness and
our brilliance; where we are brought together as a coalition
of hope and united as One Big Team. In other words,
WorldVentures is a platform where we are valued for who we
are and are recognized for creating joy in the world and for
pursuing our dreams.

Drafting Your

38

he greatest teams are crafted from the best and brightest

people you know. This could be your friends, your next
door neighbor or a former colleague whos still working at
the same dead-end job. The question is, who do you know who
embodies success?

A-List
BY CHRISTINA MLYNSKI

Ask yourself this: If you were driving home at 2 a.m. and one of
your tires blew out, who would be the first person who would come
to your rescue? That person should be on your team.
International Marketing Director Martin Ruof is a pro when it
comes to building an A-list cast of standout leaders. He has a
proven method for identifying and delivering the key players for
the ideal roster.

BE CONFIDENT
This business is a mindset, Ruof explains. While what you say is
important, how you present the information is more important. If you
seem uncertain, its not going to work. What moves people into action
is certainty and clarity.

IDENTIFY YOUR ALL-STAR CAST

Success starts with your team. We all know someone whos overworked
and underpaid. And we also know someone who would be a perfect fit to
become a member of our One Big Team. The time is now to act upon
building an all-star cast of teammates up for the task of changing their
lives, and the lives of others, with WorldVentures.

CREATE YOUR LIST

Compile a list of 10 to 15 people you want to show the company to within the
next two or three days. While most Reps will want to speak to their closest
friends or family first, its best to brainstorm everyone you know who has a
solid work ethic, like your barber or dry cleaner. The larger the list, the more
opportunities you have to create a dynamic downline.

DONT PREJUDGE
The person you think may have no interest in WorldVentures could
actually be the perfect fit for your team. Add them to your list of
potential candidates. Rather than assuming someone may need this
company, listen to their aspirations. By doing this, youll be able to shape
your invite to suit their qualifications.

BUILD A LIVING LIST

Carry a journal around with you everywhere you go. When a person pops
in your mind as an ideal candidate to live fun, freedom and fulfillment,
jot their name down. Or, if you happen to meet someone new while
grabbing a cup of coffee, get their contact information and ask the right
questions, such as, are you open to new income options? Once youve
exchanged information and gotten a feel for who they are, add them to
your constantly growing Make a living Living list.
If youre using the steps outlined above, then theres no reason to run
out of people to talk to. Everyone is a potential teammate. Our product
is an inherent yes because people love to travel, and WorldVentures is
the perfect platform because people are interested in options for other
sources of income. This is a unique company where you can work at your
own pace on your own time. The right team is out there for youall you
have to do is make the most of the opportunity to discover and build
your A-list of leaders.

UNLOCKING THE DOOR TO OPPORTUNITY

BY FELICIA FULLER
hough imperfect and
unpredictable, there is a
historical relationship between
risk and reward. In business, as in
life, the greater the investment, the higher the
potential return. The problem is most people
prefer the conservative and comfortableeven
if its less than ideal. Thats because taking
risks can require veering outside your lane
literally. Just ask Tom Panaggio, amateur
race-car driver, co-founder of Direct Mail
Express and author of The Risk Advantage.
During an interview with Mindy Zetlin for
INC magazine, he describes a recent race
during which he made a decidedly dangerous
maneuver: I literally had to drive off the track
and put myself in a real risk position to get into
the lead, he says. And it clicked in my mind
that whenever we come upon an opportunity,
we have to embrace the risk to take advantage

40

of it. Thats the difference between a successful

entrepreneur and one whos unsuccessful or
just struggling along.
Exceptional entrepreneurs achieve success
by similar means: trial and error, prototype
and test. They are the innovators, the change
agents and among the biggest risk-takers.
In the words of master financial strategist,
David DArcangelo, author of Wealth Starts
at Home: Entrepreneurs are those who
strike out on their own, committed to creating
financial freedom by taking total control of
their work environment and income goals.
Rather than accepting the conditions of a
corporate lifestyle (where other people tell
them how much they can earn, when they can
expect to receive a raise and what career track
they should follow), entrepreneurs take the
risks to get the rewards.

No one knows this better than WorldVentures

Representatives. Following is a compilation
of wisdom from those who know the benefits
of risk first-hand:

1. WELCOME RISK TO GET

YOUR REWARD.

Risk accompanies every opportunity. If

not, be wary. The rewards will be minimal
or nonexistent. International Marketing
Director Lorenzo Roybals boldest test of
boundaries came when he was just 19 years
old. He dropped out of school his freshman
year at the University of Northern Colorado
before hed even declared a major. I hated
school to begin with. It was just the next
step, so thats what I did, reluctantly, he
quips. I hated being told what to do, and I
didnt want to work for the rest of my life
at something I knew wasnt going to be
worth it.

The precursor to his campus departure came

when his best friend, Mark Brown, introduced
him to WorldVentures. Mark had recently
signed up as a Representative and was excited
to present the opportunity to Lorenzo. The two
had been friends since they were 15 and had
come to share virtually everything.

So it seems Lorenzos decision to ditch

college was a risk with exponential
returns. Today, his six-figure income as an
International Marketing Director affords
him luxuries he only imagined as a child.
But perhaps the highest reward is the
opportunity to help others.

I did it part time for a year-and-a half

while going to school. Then, I went to my
first Acceleration training in February 2009
in Minnesota. It was then that I finally
understood why God put me here. I had found
my purpose, Lorenzo recalls. When I saw this,
everything just lined up as if it were my gift
from God to really do something significant.
It was a gut feeling that I just went with. This
at least gave me a shot to reach my goals and
dreams. I dropped out of school after that,
and Ive have been a full-time WorldVentures
Representative ever since.

I have been able to give so much away to

the church, charities and foundations. Its a
pretty cool feeling knowing that the money
I give every year is almost more than the
average income someone makes working full
time in a year.

2. R I S K. R E CA L I B RAT E. R E P E AT.

Becoming your own boss is a big leap of

faith, but too many entrepreneurs take the
leap, land on their feet, and spend the rest
of their experience walking on eggshells.
You must continue to embrace risk to

discover your true entrepreneurial potential,

experts say.
Take Dave and Yvette Ulloa, for example. They
joined WorldVentures during the pre-launch in
November 2005 at the urging of a friend who
was also a Rep at the time. Disillusioned by
disappearing pensions, sluggish wage growth
and market meltdown likely requiring them to
work well into their senior years, the couple
determined it was time for radical change.
The couple rose through the ranks by seizing
every available training and professional
development opportunity. In addition to
achieving IMD status, Dave and Yvette
were appointed to the Presidents Advisory
Council and became international trainers
for the company.
But they didnt stop there.

41

In September 2013, the duo launched Health

& Fitness DreamTripsa novel program that
blends travel experiences, wellness initiatives
and fitness mentorship. The inspiration for
the program came three years ago, when
Yvette was diagnosed with a tumor in her
jaw and sought holistic alternatives to
traditional treatment.

3. HAVE A PLAN.

The inaugural Health & Fitness DreamTrip

was a four-day affair at the Westlake
Four Seasons in Los Angeles and drew 38
attendees. Yvette proudly reports that the
first group lost more than 264 pounds within
60 to 75 days following the trip. Health &
Fitness DreamTrips will be held once or twice
a year.

Following the advice of their mentors, Kari

and Lisha Schneider, the couple has also
aptly applied a popular direct sales principle
called The Success Cycle, a five-step process
to building, training and maintaining
teams. Before the cycle begins, they do
the foundational work of building a list of
prospectspeople they know and who know
them (i.e., friends, relatives, acquaintances,
colleagues, service providers, etc.)who
comprise their warm market. After sifting,
sorting and vetting the prospects, they begin
the cycle of: 1) inviting the prospects to learn
more about WorldVentures; 2) presenting

We have achieved success in multiple areas

of our lives because of our commitment to
personal development and growth, Yvette
says. Personal development transformed
our lives.

42

For Janie and Raymond Braun, goal-setting

has been an instrumental part of their
business expansion. Initially, we set goals for
increasing our ranks, but eventually we began
setting goals based on helping our team hit
their ranks. This is when the business really
began to accelerate, Janie explains.

the products and opportunity to them in an

engaging, succinct way that elicits inquiry
and interest; 3) following up with each
prospect after the presentations to gauge
their level of interest; 4) enrolling interested
prospects by walking them through the
process thoroughly; and 5) training new
Representatives by educating them about
company products and services, and coaching
them on sales strategies.
When we get someone enrolled as a new
Rep, we meet with them as quickly as we can
within the first 48 hoursto find out why
theyre doing this, what they want to get
out of it, and how much time they have to
spend, Janie says. We get them plugged
in to learn everything in an hour they need
to get a fast start. We train all the new
people to do the same thing. This is where
we spend the bulk of our hours, together
with developing our leaders and
building community.

4. PREPARE TO FAILFORWARD.
Risk is often a companion to failure, but
together they lay the foundation
for achievement.

Ninety percent of Devraj and Cassandra

Soojays team quit within three months of
joining WorldVentures. With their income
depleted, the Soojays scraped to put food on
the table.
Cassandra needed financial security, so she
asked me to find a job and to do WorldVentures
part time. I chose to put all my faith in God,
Devraj remembers. We began with empty
pockets, but I knew that if we could just prove
to everyone that this was real, it would explode
the business. I realized that WorldVentures was
going to grow with or without me.
The first few months were frustrating at
best. We had no product in Africa to sell.
There were no trainings. Nobody was making

money. There was no evidence of success

on the African continent that we could
promote, he says.
But perhaps the biggest hurdle the couple
faced was Devrajs chronic fatigue, which
significantly impaired his mobility and sapped
his energy. I used to hold the walls behind me
with my fingers when I did presentations in
the beginning to stop myself from collapsing,
he says. I also suddenly became allergic
to tablets, which blew up my knees. Many
times I could not walk at training events and
DreamTrips. I even ended up in a wheelchair
while going to the UNITED Convention in
Las Vegas.
Through it all, Devraj and Cassandra kept
their eyes firmly fixed on the prize. Sales
started sluggishly, days were long and the
couple made enough mistakes to fill a
textbook. Eventually it all paid offsignups
soared and profits boomed.

The goal was to get the Regional Marketing

Director car bonus to show everyone in Africa
that it was possible, Devraj says. Once we
hit RMD and got our first car, the Mercedes
Benz, and went on the RMD trip, it was the
game-changer for us. Within the next nine
months, we hit IMD.
Oh, and about that chronic fatigue, I am
fully recovered, Devraj declares.
Asked his biggest blunder in business,
Devraj offers the following: Trying to
stop people from making mistakes in this
business that I had already made. You want
to protect your team, but theyre going to
eventually do it their way, and learn the
hard way what works and what does not.
You cant stop this from happening. I had
to make peace with myself to let this go
and give them the opportunity to make
mistakes. I guess that is all part of growing
up in this business.

Posting, Interacting &

Building Interest on Social Media

BY CHELSEA CASSUDAKIS

ngaging your audience on social

media can be a relevant source of

recruitment and retention for your
business. Understanding the various social
platforms will help you use social media
effectively to promote your brand. But using
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Google+
comes with a word of caution: Never sell on
social media. You will lose followers. In the
social media world, creating curiosity is key.
Entice prospects, engage teammates and build
a persona people want to get to knowone
associated with fun, travel and peak experiences.
So, without further ado, here are some of
our best tips on what and when to post, and
what platforms to use to help you hit the
ground running.

SOCIAL GATHERING
Think about what you look for on social media.
Most people scour the Web for updates on
friends and family, interesting articles and
ways to socializeposting statuses, sharing
stories, watching videos of adorable puppies or
taking online quizzes to find their celebrity soul
mates. They do not sign in to social networks to
be sold something.
To pique peoples interest, post things that will
get them asking questions: photos and videos
of your DreamTrips travels and fun facts you
learned while you were there. Think of it as
a social gathering. How would you talk about
your vacations around a dinner table?

POSTING & PLATFORMS

When should you post and what platforms
should you use? Not all social media channels
are the same.
Facebook is a valuable tool for sharing
posts with people you know. Use simple,

conversational language. Again, think about

how youd tell a personal story at dinner. Post
in the early morning, at lunchtime and during
the evenings to reach people when theyre
most likely scrolling through their newsfeed.
More of a Twitter fan? Hundreds of thousands
of conversations occur every minute. Another
few thousand tweets just went out right
now! There really is no limit to how many
messages you could post on Twitter, so there
are plenty of opportunities to follow, interact
and share content instantlyin under 140
characters, of course. Unlike Facebook, its
perfectly acceptable to follow and jump into
a conversation with someone you dont know.
Be consistent, active and timely to get the best
reach with your followers. Tweets posted on
weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. get the
most traction.
Is your camera full of images from your
travels? Instagram is the perfect place to
showcase those eye-catching visuals. Include
hashtags, captions and geotags to expand your
visibility. Weekends boast the highest traffic
on Instagram, but its important to post as
regularly as possible to keep your followers
engaged. Following others with similar
accounts is also a great way to boost your
visibility and popularity.

LISTEN & INTERACT

Once youve made a post, listen to what your
friends, family, peers, teammates and prospects
have to say! Responding and interacting with
your audience is just as (if not more) important
as posting. Remember: Social media is a twoway conversation.
Now youre ready to leverage social media for
your business. Choose the platforms that work
best for you and start posting!

THE ART OF

orporate giving requires more than good

intentions and big dollars. Altruism in its purest
form is an investment in the lives of others, with
no expectation of return. Since 2010, the WorldVentures
Foundationthe philanthropic arm of WorldVentures
has served children in need around the world by
implementing sustainable economic and environmental
solutions in vulnerable regions. We do this by partnering
with fully vetted, trusted organizations aligned with our
mission to manifest positive change for children and
their communities, one experience at a time. Last year
alone, the Foundation raised more than $981,000 on
behalf of our humanitarian affiliates.

One such affiliate is Hug It Forward (HIF)a nonprofit

that supports education in Guatemala through bottle
school construction. The initiative unites residents and
volunteers to build schools using plastic bottles stuffed
with inorganic trash, at an average cost of $6,500 per
classroom. In 2014, the Foundation and WorldVentures
donated more than $300,000 to HIF and organized 16
VolunTours in Guatemala, with 325 volunteers logging
9,750 service hours. More than 100 classrooms have
been completed to date.
VolunTours, which combine community service and
global travel, continue to be the centerpiece of the
Foundations outreach. In all, 36 volunteer service
excursions were completed last year. More than 40
VolunTours across six continents are scheduled for
2015, and new VolunTours are added weekly.
On the U.S. front, the Foundation reprised its
partnership with the Nancy Lieberman Foundation,
Sport Court and the National Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA) to build DreamCourts in urban
areas, including cities hosting the NCAA Final Four.
Thirteen DreamCourts have been built to date, including
three last year. In addition to 2015 NCAA host cities
Birmingham, Tampa and Indianapolis, construction
is planned this year in Alabama, South Carolina, New
Jersey, Iowa and Oklahoma.

ALL EYES ON ASIA

The Foundation enters the second quarter of 2015
brimming with optimism as WorldVentures expands
operations in Asia-Pacific. The announcement comes
on the heels of DreamTrips being named Asias Leading
Travel Club at the WorldTravel Awards last year.
Eastern expansion is a natural progression given that
Asia will account for over half the growth in global
business travel in the next decade. And with highly
developed free-market economies in Singapore, Hong
Kong and other Asian countries, the region is optimally
positioned for more good things to come from the
Foundation and volunteers around the world.

A WINNING PARTNERSHIP
BY COURTNEY ROUSH

DOBIE & PAULETTE

CHARLES
Directors, United States

irectors Dobie and

Paulette Charles of San
Antonio, Texas, have
always found strength in their
partnership. Originally from St.
Martinville, Louisiana, these
former high school sweethearts
came to San Antonio in 1988
when Dobie joined the Air
Force as a means to complete
his college education. He
continued his Air Force
career as a Reservist and later
became a budget analyst for
the Veterans Administration
and began building homes part
time. The couple raised two
sons, and Paulette began to
pursue her bachelors degree.
On Dec. 31, 2012, the Charless
were invited to a holiday

party; turns out it was also a

WorldVentures presentation.
Dobie had briefly dabbled in
another direct sales company,
and the pursuit wasnt terribly
successful. But something about
the presentation that evening
grabbed him, and he asked
Paulette to get on board with
the opportunity.
I said, No way, Paulette recalls.
I was still working on my B.A.,
and I had no time at all. But
Dobie must have been persuasive,
because both ultimately signed up
as WorldVentures Representatives
that evening.
The couple has built a thriving
business, but on a part-time basis,
alongside other priorities. Paulette
is an information technology
specialist, while Dobie continues
his job at the Department of
Veterans Affairs (VA). Their sons
are now 23 and 16. Their 23-yearold, a college student, also is a

WorldVentures Representative.
He knows the business better
than we do, Paulette jokes.
Despite their busy schedules, the
couple has already planned three
DreamTrips for 2015: cruises from
New Orleans, Cancun and Hawaii.
The anticipation of knowing
were going to these destinations
makes life more exciting, Dobie
says. Were doing something now
that most people have to wait until
retirement to do.
And they plan to take their sons on
every DreamTrip. This is a family
business, Dobie says. Living rich
means having our family together
and having our health. Working for
the VA, I see sickness daily. Money
is just a means of living, but
family is everything.
The couple also ranks personal
development as one of the biggest
payoffs of their WorldVentures
business, and for Paulette, the
benefits have been profound. I was

the outgoing one before, Dobie

says, but its been a 180-degree
turn for Paulette. Shes more
outspoken now. WorldVentures
brought out the leader in her.
The couple has a direct line of 13
Representatives and a larger team
of more than 200. I see us moving
one step up each year, Dobie says.
Marketing Director next year,
RMD the following year and IMD
within five years. The secret to
the couples success? We stay in
tune with our team and develop
relationships with them, Dobie
continues. People dont care how
much you know; they want to
know how much you care. I feel
like were changing lives.
In 10 years, well be fully focused
on supporting our team so they
can achieve what weve achieved,
Paulette says. We want to pass
the torch. I love helping people
and realize theres a place and
purpose for them.

SPEAKING THE SAME LANGUAGE

BY SANETTE LUDICK

GEORGE DRDA
Marketing Director
The Netherlands

orldVentures was
founded on a basic
business philosophy of
helping people achieve more fun,
freedom and fulfillment in their
lives. Its a lifestyle that certainly
appeals to people across the
globe, despite varying cultures,
languages and customs.
One thing is for sure; the
companys appeal is based on the
universal need to spend more
quality time with friends and
family. George Drda, desires the
same: to live life to the fullest
and to share experiences with the
people he cares about the most.
After being introduced to
WorldVentures about 26 months

ago, Drda knew he would have

no problem transitioning
from his job to the new role of
Independent Representative.
After all, he had almost 20 years
professional experience in direct
salesa marketing strategy in
which compensation is based not
only on generated sales but also
on the sales of those recruited.
For three nights, I did not sleep.
I watched YouTube videos about
the company, George says.
The benefits of joining the
company are irresistible to
many. Some join WorldVentures
after being presented with an
opportunity to develop their
own businesses or to be the
personality behind marketing a
great product. DreamTrips are
another draw, as is financial
wealth. But for George, what
finally convinced him to
take a giant leap and join
WorldVentures was the prospect

of driving a brand-new car from

the BMW 6 Series. And as the
BMW commercial says: Ready.
Set. Gone. George was off to a
remarkable start.
I immediately understood
how to present these brilliantly
simple and sophisticated, highvalue lifestyles.
George shares that joining
WorldVentures has had a
phenomenal impact on his life.
Now I know that I have found
my love for life and my love
for business. And I will try to
pass these on to other people
on the team.
These days, George feels he has
freedom of mind and body. The
added bonus: meeting new people
and forming lasting friendships.
But his job isnt done yet.
Over the next few years, George
intends to reach the rank

of International Marketing
Director. His long-term
goals include promoting the
WorldVentures brand worldwide.
In the meantime, his teammates
motivate one another by sharing
their accomplishments and
their goals.
Georges main objective has never
really been financial wealth, but
rather helping others live their
lives to the fullesta task hes
been committed to for more than
two years.
George admits that he will go
anywhere. That is, anywhere
there are people with open
hearts. The latter, definitely, is
not lost in translation.

Words to Live By
I have found my love for life
and my love for business.

override, while 80.18% did not. The average annual commission or override earnings of all IRs, including those who did not earn
a commission or override, was $190.15. The average annual commission or override earnings or that group of IRs who earned a
commission or override was $957.12, and the median was $40.00. The data presented in the table above is based only on those
IRs who earned a commission or override within the time period of October 2011 to September 2012.
Notes:
1. All amounts are represented in U.S. dollars.
2. These figures do not represent Representatives profits, nor do they consider expenses incurred by Representatives in the promotion of their business.
3. Promotion levels represented in the table are based on ranks achieved at the end of the year.
4. An Independent Representative is one whose Independent Representative agreement was accepted by WorldVentures within the 12-month period preceding the last
day of the fiscal year displayed.
5. An active Representative is one:
a. whose Independent Representative Agreement is in good standing and who has made a sale of a WorldVentures product within the 12-month period preceding
the last day of the fiscal year displayed; or
b. who has earned a commission or override with WorldVentures within the 12-month period preceding the last day of the fiscal year displayed.
6. Figures are for the U.S. market after five full years of operation. Figures may not reflect incomes in newly or less-established WorldVentures markets.
There are no guarantees regarding income. The success or failure of each Independent Representative in WorldVentures, like any other business,
depends on the Independent Representatives own skill, dedication, personal effort and leadership qualities.
