a) In the circuit shown in Fig. 1(a), the switch has been open for a long time. At t = 0, the
switch is closed.

iii) Analyze to find the current flowing through the inductor by writing the expression for

b) The circuit shown in Fig. 1(b) has been open for a long time. The initial charge on the
capacitor is zero. At t = 0, the switch is closed.
i) Find the value of voltage, v(t) for t < 0.

ii) How do you explain (in terms of equation) the behavior of the voltage across
capacitor, v(t) for t 0. .

a) The resistance, inductance and capacitance in a parallel RLC circuit shown in Fig. 2(a)
are 250 , 50 mH and 200 nF respectively. The initial inductor current is -45 mA and
the initial capacitor voltage is 15 V.

b) The initial voltage across the 31.25F capacitor in the circuit of Fig. 2(b), is 24 V. The
initial energy stored in the 0.5 H inductor L, is zero. Resistor, R is given as 10k.

ii) You are required to analyze the circuit by determining the value of impedance
reflected into the primary winding, Zrp and impedance reflected into the secondary
winding, Zrs.

b) A Y connected source feeds a -connected load through a distribution line having an


impedance of 0.3 + j0.9 /. The load impedance is 118.5 + j85.8 /. Use the a-phase
internal voltage of the generator as the reference.
i) Suggest a phase equivalent circuit of the three-phase circuit described in the
paragraph above.
