How to use the windows pc driver profiles

APRIL 2007 - 

The use of Fujifilm driver profiles is limited to the following conditions.

FUJIFILM/EPSON Stylus Pro printers
SP2100P
R2400
SP3800
SP4000 & SP4800
SP7000 & SP7800
SP9000 & SP9800
PhotoShop version 6.0 or higher
Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP
Fujifilm inkjet media
To have a match between your monitor softproof and printer output the monitor needs to be calibrated and profiled f.i. using the X-Rite Eye-One Display 2
There are 4 steps for the set-up.

1 Installing the profiles on your PC

1. Windows 2000 and XP users should log on as administrators.
2. Select the desired profiles on the FUJIFILM mini DVD delivered with your printer or
you can download them from the
FUJIFILM Europe NV web-site www.fujifilm.eu/profiles_feb or
FTP-server ftp://www.fujihunt.com/driver/
3. Copy the profile to the harddisk and right click the profile.
4. Click Install profile
5. You can either restart PhotoShop or select View, Proof Setup & Custom
to update the profiles available in PhotoShop.

2 COLOR SETTIngS In PHOTOSHOP

select your preferred working space for rGB images.

(f.i. srGB iec6966-2., colourmatch or Adobe rGB (998) )
set your colour Management policies according to the screen grab
choose Perceptual for intent.
epson K3 printers also work very well with Relative.

3 OPEnIng an IMagE anD aSSIgnIng

a SOURCE PROFILE
open an image. photoshop will analyse the image profile and compare it with your colour settings.
if there is an embedded profile than use it.

if there is no embedded profile you can assign the working rGB colourspace.
srGB iec6966-2. in this case.
or you can assign a specific profile if you know the origin of the image f.i. a frontier scanner
profile.

click the triangle in the bottom border of the document window and select document profile.

now you can see the embedded profile name.

4 SETTIng UP THE DRIVER

select and configure Page Setup

select Printer.

select Properties.

select advanced.

select printer color Management Off (no Colour adjustment). we want photoshop to handle
the color management and not the driver.
select the Media Type according to the table you find in the pdf document
ff Media_printername.pdf
You can now save these settings for further use. click Save Settings...

type a reference name like photo paper satin . and Save.

select Close.

PRInTIng an IMagE
select Print with preview.

Go to Page Setup if needed change the page size.

select Color Management iso Output

CS2 users
color Handling : select Let PhotoShop Determine Colors
printer profile : select the paper profile for this printer
Previous photoshop versions
print space profile : select the paper profile for this printer
all users
intent : perceptual

select Print

select Properties and select the paper setting you created previously fi photo paper satin.

click OK and again OK.
