Boards Alarms

Replaceable unit missing. This alarm indicates that there is configured a board
in the software that doesnt exist in the hardware .

Replaceable unit type mismatch. This alarm indicates that there is configured
a board in the software but it isn't the right one.

Unconfigured equipment present. This alarm indicates that the board is

plugged in the equipment but the board isnt configured in the software.

Replaceable unit problem. The board could be broken.

3.2 Board Substitution/Database Clearing

Procedure for clearing the database
To start with the BASIC CONFIGURATION it is necessary to clear the Database of the
Equipment Controller(EC) following this procedure
I- Extract the EC card.
II- Move the micro-switch inside the card as indicated in figure 2 below.
III- Insert the EC card and wait until the leds on the front of the board turn on.
IV- Verify that the database is cleared: all the slots appear empty, except for the
following main cards: EC card , MATRIX, CONGI and Bus Termination.
V- Extract the EC card, set the micro-switch in the original position: a warning alarm
appears in the slots where a card is inserted.

Insert the new unit
New unit hw condition.
Sw of the same release and NE?

New unit hw condition.

Unit with different sw?

New unit hw condition.

Unit without sw?

New unit hw condition.

Unit with wrong or
unknown sw?

Remove and hw-preset the new unit with:

switch#1=ON, switch#2=ON.
Insert the new unit again
Download the NE relevant
sw release with normal
download procedure

Download the NE
relevant sw release with
SIBDL procedure

Remove and hw-preset the new unit with:

switch#1=ON, switch#2=OFF(reset database and upload comm/routing tables)
Insert the new unit again
NO

Is the MIB stored in the Craft Terminal?

From OS send the saved MIB

containing the correct configuration
From OS activate the sent MIB

YES

From CT send the saved MIB

containing the correct configuration
From CT activate the sent MIB

Remove and hw-preset the new unit with: switch#1=OFF, switch#2=OFF(normal operating condition)
Insert the new unit again
