TOMORROW: DSCC SMALL BUSINESS CONFERENCE & END-OF-SESSION LEGISLATIVE BRUNCH
DOVER, DE (June 3, 2015) – Senate President Pro Tempore Patricia M. Blevins and Speaker of the House Peter C. Schwartzkopf will be speaking at the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Conference and End-of-Session Legislative Brunch on June 3, 2015, at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. This event provides small business leaders with an opportunity to discuss their issues and goals with legislators and state officials.
The morning session will feature a panel discussion with Small Business Caucus co-chairs Rep. Bryon H. Short and Rep. Daniel B. Short, which will be led by DSCC director of government affairs, James DeChene. Attendees will be given the chance to network among a tabletop-style exhibit of small businesses from around the state.
During the afternoon segment of the program, The Honorable Patricia Blevins, President Pro Tempore and The Honorable Peter Schwartzkopf, Speaker of the House, will provide an update of current and upcoming issues in the state legislature. “Despite a difficult budget year, we are prepared to take some important steps in ensuring the long-term economic viability of our state,” said Senate President Pro Tem Patricia Blevins, D-Elsmere. “I look forward to speaking to the Chamber about our efforts to improve our infrastructure network and invest in some of our most important towns and cities, bringing jobs and economic growth to the state in the process.”
“This session our biggest challenge is the state operating budget, which will require some very tough choices over the next few weeks,” Said Speaker Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth. “In addition to the budget, we also made the choice to address the serious infrastructure needs we have up and down the state. Investing in infrastructure boosts employment, makes our roads and highways safer, and promotes economic growth. Every dollar of public funds invested in infrastructure generates three dollars in economic activity. For the sake of Delaware’s middle class families, we can’t afford to leave that money on the table.”
Online registration is now closed, contact Kelly Wetzel kwetzel@dscc.com for inquiries. Registration is $50 for Chamber members, $75 for future members.
