Filter House Dress-Out

GENERAL GUIDELINES
Purpose/Scope

This work package encompasses all


requirements for dress-out of the filter
house, to include sealing of the filter house,
cleaning of the filter house and intakes,
inspection for cleanliness and installation of
the filtration media.
Precautions
Exposure to formaldehyde may occur during installation
of air filter canisters. Un-box and un-bag air filter
canisters in well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors.
Air canister filters need to stand for approximately 15
minutes to off gas.

Individuals should wear chemical resistant nitrile gloves


and use care when handling air filter canisters.
Individuals should not smoke due to toxicity of material.
Gas may cause eye, nose and mouth irritation, coughing
and wheezing, tightness of the chest and skin rashes.
Utilize disposable mask to help prevent irritations. After
exposure to air filter canisters, individuals should wash
their hands.
Either manlifts, ladders, or in some cases, scaffolding
must be used during the installation of the Air Filter
Assembly. Check your local, state, federal, and/or
international regulations to ensure compliance.
Removing excess RTV from joints will help prevent
potential occurrences of FOD in air inlet housing.
Failure to properly clean inside the inlet plenum may
cause damage to the turbine or other equipment due to

TASKS

INITIALS

1.

Seal all joints and transitions inside plenum with Sikaflex221 silicone.

2.

Visually inspect all joints for excessive use of RTV.

NOTICE
DO NOT ALLOW RTV TO BE LEFT PROTRUDING FROM JOINTS IN AIR FILTER
HOUSE.

3.

Trim RTV Silicone flush with surface of joints.

4.

Seal mating flanges between plenum and coil modules (inside).

5.

Close all doors and check for light penetration. (Apply silicone until no light
penetrates into air filter enclosure).

6.

Clean air inlet assembly and inlet plenum.

NOTICE
WHEN CLEANING AIR INLET ASSEMBLY AND PLENUM WIPE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY
DOWN TO ENSURE NO DIRT OR CONTAMINATION REMAINS INSIDE INLET AREA.
PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO LOW POINT AREAS WHERE DIRT, DUST, SLAG
AND OTHER OBJECTS MAY HAVE FALLEN AND ACCUMULATED.

7.

Inspect inlet areas for signs of corrosion and deterioration, treat areas as required
(reference Intake Inspection and Cleaning Procedure).

8.

For units with chillers, ensure piping is properly run and there is no chaffing.

NOTICE
TO INSTALL FILTER MEDIA IN FILTER CELL, FIRST STAGE SEPARATOR WILL
HAVE TO BE REMOVED.

9.

Support module by lifting lugs. Unlatch vane separator and remove.

10.

Clean intake housing before filters are installed (reference Intake Inspection and
Cleaning Procedure).

11.

Tilt bottom of filter bag outwards and Place top of filter bag into groove. Push
bottom of filter into cell and down.

12.

Check seals on bag holding frame.

NOTICE
IF SEALS APPEAR DAMAGED, FLATTENED, OR DETACHED, THEY SHOULD BE
REPLACED.

13.

Ensure no loose items are left within intake housing.

14.

Reinstall vane separator.

15.

Verify the following records have been updated;
