CHAPTER 1
1.0 Introduction
Industrial Training is compulsory period of training for all students who already
passed all subjects in 7 previous semesters. Industrial training is a training done in a real
working environment with a specific task and permission assigned to the student by a
company that to be accomplished during the period given. It is also one of the assessments to
achieve the scroll. Industrial training is a formal practical, which is conducted in a company
that provides an industrial environment to the student. The practical works should be related
to the course attained by student and approved by the Head of Faculty. A student also should
be given a constant supervision by an appointed supervisor from the company.
Industrial Training is a compulsory semester that must be done by each and every
student in order to complete their courses. Training can be done at any place or factory as long
as it consists of the theory and practical technical skills. The period of the training must be
completed in 6 months guided by a lecturer that acts as a University Supervisor thought out
the training time. To fulfill of this demand, the Industrial Training need to be completed
throughout 24 weeks from 2nd February to 17th July 2015.
Thought out the training students are given work based on their current studies and
supervised by a supervisor selected among the lecturers. At the same time students are also
provided with Industrial Training Student Logbook to take note on what they have been doing
though out the training. The supervisor from University will make two times visit to the
trainees place during the training to evaluate the trainee and hear any report or comment from
the company supervisor. All problems, possibilities and works during the training should be
report to both supervisors. It is compulsory to each trainee to complete their 24 weeks of
training.
The main objective of this Industrial Training is to give students vast exposure to a
real industrial environment. Industrial training also leads the trainee to develop an
independence, responsibility and creativity in a real working situation. Trainee should be able
to accomplish certain objectives:
To apply the theoretically and practical knowledge gained from course taken in
University
To expose and practice the competency in a real working environment, this is different
or lower level staff, and to build up trainee responsibility to the task given and exposes
student more to create skills and gained a lot of experience followed by it job scopes. Besides
that, there are some subjects that can be applied during this industrial training such as jobs
culture, communication, project management, punctual or on time, and attitude.
