Installation Requirements

PC Admin Rights are required to install VIMSpc and master database updates. Once installed, standard users can run VIMSpc.

All air cards should be removed and VPN turned OFF prior to installation and when running VIMSpc while connecting to VIMS3G modules.

Firewall Requirements to Enable VIMSpc and ET to Connect to Machines through Ethernet

The firewall or VPN software should be programmed to have rules or exceptions to allow communication on the following Internet ports for a 165.26.78.0/23 IP address space. This allows flashing over Ethernet and servicing certain generations of VIMS

applications

To service all generations of VIMS applications, the rules or exceptions

must also be applied to IP address 10.0.0.7, 10.0.0.8, 192.30.52.44, 192.30.52.45, 192.168.1.20, and 192.168.1.21.

• Sending and receiving UDP broadcasts on ports 10002 and 31580

• Sending and receiving FTP command data on ports 20 and 21

• Sending an outgoing FTP connection request to an FTP server on ports >1023

• Accepting an incoming FTP data connection request from an FTP server on ports >1023 (i.e. FTP client in active mode)

• Sending and receiving Telnet data on port 23

• Sending and receiving HTTP data on port 80

• Sending and receiving ICMPv4 packets, type 0 (echo-reply) and type 8 (echo- request)

System Requirements

To successfully run VIMSpc, the following computer hardware, communication hardware, cables, and software are needed:

• IBM PC compatible with Pentium 1 GHz processor or greater

Procedure for Identifying the LAN

On the back of the PC, there is an TCP/IP Ethernet Port. Once this port has identified connectivity, the port will begin to establish communication. Communication is established between multiple locations throughout the operating system. This verification process can be done either on a dynamic network such as in an office environment or at a machine with VIMS installed.

The installation process is the same in either environment, however the connection status message may differ.
