Diamec MCR core drilling rigs

Mobility

The Diamec Mobile Carrier Rig (MCR) combines the best of two
worlds: the high productivity and accuracy in core drilling of a
Diamec core drilling rig, with the robustness and mobility of a
Simba carrier! This combination provides the exploration driller with
unmatched productivity in underground mining.
Short holes means many moves

Move fast - drill fast

Better reach, higher efficiency

When defining ore content in underground mines, a big part of the job is
to move the core drilling rig from site
to site. Ore definition drilling means
shorter holes in many different places
in the mine, and the core drilling rig
needs to shift place frequently.

The Diamec MCR is completely

self sufficient and can swiftly move
from one drill spot to another. The
time saving can be more than 50%
depending on distance etc! Less people
and equipment needs to be involved,
and the entire core drilling equipment
is moved in one piece. Setting up for
next drill hole is done within minutes.

The Diamec MCR does not only drill

and move quickly it has also an
improved reach, with access to wider
angles.

To move a traditional rig often includes disassembling of control unit and

power pack to enable a move. This
of course takes up valuable time, and
the risk for damage and damage errors
when moving and reconnecting the
components is not negligible.
Self sufficient, no disturbance

Also, when a traditional core drilling rig is to be moved, the regular

mining operations has to be disturbed
as assistance is required for lifting and
transporting the rig. To the exploration
driller, this often means waiting for
availability of mining equipment, and
the move also takes away valuable
time from the mining operation.

Less downtime of course means higher productivity. This is also the case
for the Diamec MCR, the idea is that
when moving move it fast, when
drilling drill fast!

The 1.8 m feed frame gives a superior

stroke length, and ensures that the
exploration driller can maintain highest
possible efficiency when retreiving
core samples for the mine.

Heavy drilling requires a robust carrier

APC - Your drilling supervisor

Touch screen computer

Core drilling is heavy drilling, and this

requires a strong and robust carrier. We
found this in the well proven Simba
production drill rig. Combined with
the Diamec, we have the markets most
reliable solution for mobile core drilling. All components are built with a
high level of engineering in them, and
combined with the optional Diamec
APC control system, productivity can
reach new heights.

With the APC, the drilling operation

is supervised by a computer. Once
youve entered the key parameters,
the APC computer assumes control in
order to maintain a constant penetration rate. The system reacts instantly to
the slightest change in rock formation,
adjusting feed force, or torque accordingly. It can even shut down the rig
if necessary.

APC uses the latest in computer technology. Based on Atlas Copcos fieldproven RCS-technology, APC is the
most user-friendly and efficient system
on the market today. All relevant information is displayed on a touch screen
that enables the selection of the right
parameters. Theres a separate menu
for drilling, rod running and wire line
operation. Whats more, theres a built
-in operators manual and if need be
a manual override.

Using an APC control while drilling,

also provides efficient rod handling,
improved bit life, less core blockage
and minimum deviation. Not to mention fewer human errors.

All the operating data is saved and

diagnosed, or can be downloaded onto
a USB memory stick for future analysis by external computers.
