Welfare (CRAW)
Proposal

University Student Council A.Y. 2015 - 2016

VISION
A UP community that is organized empowered and united with the
students in advancing the rights and welfare of its members, and the other
sectors in society.

MISSION
1. To forge a harmonious bond with the studentry characterized by an
enhanced socio - political awareness on the existing micro and macro social
realities
2. Mainstream campaigns and programs concerning the entire UP community
3. Increase the capacity of the members of the community to facilitate
participatory development
4. Uphold a nationalist, scientific, and mass-oriented culture in the University.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES


The Community Rights and Welfare Community of the University Student
Council shall spearhead the initiatives to unite the students with the other
members of the UP Community to create a cohesive, organized and democratic
peoples front that will respond to the pressing issues concerning both its
members and the society.

GENERAL PLAN OF ACTION


A Community Rights and Welfare Committee that upholds and protects
the interests and welfare of the members of UP Community through emphasis
on grassroots and participatory development as realized through

TAYO

PROGRAM
TAYO Komyu! is the general framework that will actualize the vision and
mission of CRAW committee for this academic year.

Tatayo
SAFFE Safety Against Fire, Flood and Earthquake This will be the
main project for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management for the
members of the UP Community. Trainings and seminars will be the
highlight activities for this. Tapping the CE 10 D*MAPS class will
be a target initiative for this along with student organizations that
specializes on disaster rescue trainings e.g. Red Cross Youth and
UP ROTC.
G na G for GSTs! The program that will mainstream gender
sensitivity trainings to improve awareness on gender issues. This
will be done in partnership with Diliman Gender Office and the
Gender Committee.
Skills Training The conduction of skills training that will be
useful to introduce new means for livelihood or the improvement
of existing ones. Social entrepreneurship shall be highlighted here.
This will be conducted in partnership with organizations from VSB
e.g. UP Circle of Entrepreneurs. Tapping resources with TESDA is
also eyed.
ED Wow! A series of Educational Discussions regarding on the
pressing social issues faced by the entire UP community
(especially the implementation of UP Master Development Plan)
and our society at status quo. Talks and seminars on their basic
Human Rights will also be held in partnership with the EdRes
Committee.

Aalalay
Community Consultations The conduction of regular
consultations with the community in order for the entire UP to be
knowledgeable on their present living conditions, and more
importantly the issues that they face.
Check the Sec This is a consultation also with the different
sectors within the UP community to be knowledgeable of their
concerns. There is particular separation of project to recognize
new and emerging sectors that have not been previously
organized and consulted e.g. the security guards under private
agencies, the UP Cooperative.
Treats for the Street Children An initiative to reach out and aid
the street children lurking around UP Campus. The strengthening
of existing program in partnership with OVCSA, and tapping the
support of DSWD will be done under this project. Student
organizations with similar advocacies such as UP CRADLE shall be
tapped as well.
IskoOps Extending the existing USC Relief Operations to the
entire UP Community by mobilizing the resources that they have
while at the same time forging bonds with the students and other
volunteers. Tulong Kabataan, an existing network of organizations
within the UP system will be the main partner for this project.
Legal and Health Assistance A project that will bring legal
services to the members of UP community in partnership with
SLAAC. Health assistance will be conducted along with student
organizations with similar campaigns such as UP Pre Med Society,
and CHE based organizations.

Community Campaigns This will be the main project that will


streamline the discussion of issues and mobilization of the

members of the UP community to respond and to address to these


concerns. Special attention shall be given on the current concerns
on the manininda, contractualization of workers, and the security
of residents inside the campus.

Oorganisa
Bumalik sa Masa A series of Basic Masses Exposure and
Integration that will be done with the students through their
organizations and NSTP classes in order to enrich the knowledge
on the UP communitys present situation while at same time
strengthening its bond with the students.

Multi Sectoral Alliance The project that will convene the different
sectors in the UP community and will enjoin the organized
members into relevant alliances and networks to broaden the
ranks that will advance the rights and welfare of the UP
community.
