Abdourahman Dhembil, During an event like this, we take the

opportunity to remind ourselves of the accomplishments and look to the

future steps for realization of our strategies, particularly in this year. I need
to draw your attention and that of all Djiboutian nationals to be aware of
the degree of the crisis in some countries in this region and around the
world, the impact it has on peace and security, Today we are living in a
confused and agitated world with a multifaceted high threat levels both
regional and international, which concerns us all because it might be a risk
to the security of our population. In that case I encourage all Djiboutians to
be cautious of this new reality that might destabilize the security of our
country. To face the challenges of this crisis, our priority should be to
consolidate more on solidarity, cohesion and unity of our society putting
our patriotism first.

STORY

Beletweyne, 6th June 2015: Djiboutian forces serving under the African
Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) today joined their counterparts back
home in commemorating the 38th anniversary of the Djiboutian Armed
Forces.
The celebrations held in Beletweyne were marked with a military parade
and also attended by counterparts from AMISOM, the UN, the Hiran SNA
commander, as well as the regional police commissioner.
Speaking at the function, Sector 4 Commander Col. Abdourahman Dhembil
said such occasions provide opportunity to reflect on the security
challenges facing the region and how they can be countered.
During an event like this, we take the opportunity to remind ourselves of
the accomplishments and look to the future steps for realisation of our
strategies, particularly in this year. I need to draw your attention and that
of all Djiboutian nationals to be aware of the degree of the crisis in some
countries in this region and around the world, the impact it has on peace
and security, he said.
Col. Abdourahman further appealed for unity and cohesion for elements of
insecurity to be countered in the region.
Today we are living in a confused and agitated world with a multifaceted
high threat levels both regional and international, which concerns us all
because it might be a risk to the security of our population. In that case I
encourage all Djiboutians to be cautious of this new reality that might
destabilise the security of our country. To face the challenges of this crisis,
our priority should be to consolidate more on solidarity, cohesion and unity
of our society putting our patriotism first, he added.
Djibouti was the third country to contribute troops to AMISOM. The troops
have been instrumental in securing the Hiran region, mediating clan
conflicts and boosting the capacity of the Somali National Army, among
others.
