Im going to talk about one of the best eras ever, the 1920s.

Theres a stereotypical
view of the 1920 as the Roaring Twenties- which roared indeed with jazz and gin and
new inventions that changed the world in profound ways.
The 20s gave us jazz, movies, radio, making out in cars, the womens suffrage,
penicillin, illegal liquor and other cool stuff that I took the time to put down here.
Remember the 19th amendment, through it gals could vote along with boys. Well
done, ladies!
The 1920 were a time of prosperity, although not for everyone. America was torn
between the old and the new, between poverty and wealth. They also gave us
gangsters, consumerism and a consumer culter based on credit and even though
they opened a door toward equality, there was a lot of prejudice against the
immigrants and eventually the worst economic crisis the us had ever seen.
I believe the quoate of the decade has to go to the famously taciturn president,
Calvin Coolidge who said: . Jay z would later uptade this quoate for the 21 st
century, noting:
Returning to the roaring twenties it is quote obvious that the main concern was
business and economy. And how did the government help the growth of business?
Simple, by not regulating it much at all. This is known as laissez-faire capitalism, if
you re good at French.
Therefore productivity rose dramatically, American corporations adopted henrys
ford assembly line technique and expended their reach over seas. Another
interesting fact is that by 1929 all American families owned a car and thus began
the American love affair with the automobile which is also where love affairs were
often consummated. This is why in the 1920 care came to be known as
skoodilypooping chariots.
One last thing about economy, in this perios the dollar replaced the pound as the
most imp currency.
With all the companies churning out all kinds of labour saving devices such as
refrigirators, vacuum cleaners, toasters, Americans had more time for leisure. And
this was provided by radios, baseball games, boxing vacantions dance crazez.
Before
Its claude mckey, harlem renaissance poet; themad nd hungty dogs literally and
figuratively make up the mobs, but the giveaway here is the ultimate sentiment that
we will fight back. This was part of the spirit of the harlemrennaisnce, which
rejected stereotypes and prejudice and sought to celebrate the African American
culture.
But the main reason why I chose this topic for today is represented by the
fact that in the 1920 s a new kind of woman was born. This quote embodies the

essence of a fresh generation of women. She smoked, drank, danced, and voted. She cut
her hair, wore make-up, and went to petting parties. She traded floor-length skirts for
the flapper dresses that live on today as Halloween costumes. She was giddy, flamboyant
and took risks.
