Course Description
HRM plays a key role in helping companies meet the challenges of global
competition. This course is all about what is Human Resource Management? How it
relates to the management process? And how it is changing in response to trends in
the workplace. It illustrates how all managers can use HR concepts and techniques
to improve an organizations performance.

Course Policies
Assignments, project , mid term and final exam
There will be two assignments of ten marks each. (Submission weeks are in the
weekly schedule above). One will be a case study and other will be an interview
with an HR Manager. The project will be preparation of a solution of an actual HR
issue in any company (list of companies will be provided by course faculty)

There will be two examinations designed to assess the breadth and depth of your
knowledge of the subjects covered in the course. The midterm examination will
focus on the material including content related to the core text, class discussion,
articles discussed and case studies covered in the first part of the course. The final
examination will focus on material studied with some percentage allocated to the
pre-mids material.
Course Outline
The course outline will be followed throughout the semester. Quizzes and
assignments have been announced in the course outline in weekly plan. You should
be aware of the weeks and dates when a quiz or an assignment is due. There can
be 1-2 surprise quizzes anytime during the semester.
In case of a delayed/cancelled class, any class activity which is due would
automatically shift to the next class.
Plagiarism Policy
It is expected that you are well aware of plagiarism policy of the university. It is
clearly stated that no plagiarism will be accepted in assignments and project
reports. If a student is found involved in plagiarism he/she will simply get a zero in
the respective activity. 2nd time plagiarism count will lead to disciplinary action and
possibility of getting an F in the course.
Communication and Feedback
Students are encouraged to reach me after the class to discuss anything related to
course, class, and their progress. You can also reach me in my office during the
consulting hours. In case a student requires reaching me after the class and outside
the consulting hours they are encouraged to contact me through email. My contact
number will only be available with class representative however they may only be
used in case of an emergency. CRs are not allowed to give out my mobile number
to other students without my permission.
