Seeking:!Students!from!schools,!Colleges!&!Universities!for!internship!positions!
during!the!summer!season!and!on!a!year;round!basis.!Park!Playhouse!seeks!to!
partner!with!Capital!Region!Universities!&!Colleges!to!provide!internship!
experience!for!school!credit!to!qualified!students.!Students!currently!working!
towards!degrees!in!Theatre!Arts!(in!both!Performance!and!Design/Technical!
programs),!Non;Profit/Public!Policy!Programs!and!Business!Administration!are!
encouraged!to!apply.!Some!internships!provide!payment!stipends.!

School%Credit%Details:!Park!Playhouse!will!work!with!your!school!and!your!
professors!to!design!an!internship!program!for!you!based!on!the!number!of!credits!
you!are!seeking.!Various!Universities!and!Colleges!have!differing!requirements!in!
regards!to!the!number!of!hours!and!the!type!of!work!you!must!complete.!Your!
supervisor!will!track!your!hours!worked!and!will!complete!any!necessary!
paperwork!to!report!back!to!your!school.!Be!sure!to!provide!us!with!all!forms!that!
your!school!requires!at!the!start!of!your!internship!period!to!ensure!there!is!no!
delay!in!reporting!back!to!your!school.!!

Developing%Your%Internship:!Students!are!encouraged!to!create!a!unique!
internship!program!and!schedule!which!fit!their!skills!and!the!areas!in!which!they!
desire!further!experience.!Park!Playhouse!staff!will!work!with!students!individually!
to!setup!a!schedule!of!tasks!for!their!desired!internship!term.!For!instance,!a!student!
may!wish!to!start!their!session!with!an!internship!in!Carpentry!and!then!finish!the!
term!with!an!internship!in!House!Management.!Students!may!request!to!be!
scheduled!to!work!with!up!to!three!departments!(but!may!also!choose!to!remain!in!
one!department!throughout!their!term!if!they!desire).!Work!in!any!individual!
department!should!last!no!shorter!than!three!weeks!to!allow!for!a!thorough,!
enriching!experience!in!that!department!(and!to!aide!in!scheduling!and!planning!for!
our!professional!staff).!Our!goal!is!to!provide!hands;on!experience!in!the!
departments!that!will!be!most!beneficial!to!individual!students!in!regards!to!their!
personal!growth!as!theatre!artists.!!

technical!areas.!Students!will!be!assigned!work!based!on!the!number!of!credits!they!
are!seeking,!hours!available!to!work!and!their!personal!interests!and!experience.!!

Summer%Season%

Technical)Internships:%

Carpentry:!Students!will!work!with!Park!Playhouses!Technical!Director!and!Master!
Carpenter!on!the!construction!and!installation!of!the!sets!for!our!mainstage!and!
youth!productions!in!Albanys!Washington!Park.!Opportunities!in!this!internship!
track!begin!on!or!about!June!1!and!conclude!on!or!about!August!25.!

Costuming:!Students!will!work!with!Park!Playhouses!Costume!Designers!and!
Costume!Shop!Manager!on!stitching,!draping,!shopping!and!fitting!the!costumes!for!
our!mainstage!and!youth!productions.!Opportunities!in!this!internship!track!begin!
on!or!about!June!1!and!conclude!on!or!about!August!25.!!

Audio%Engineering:%Students!will!work!with!Park!Playhouses!Sound!Designer!and!
Audio!Engineer!on!programming,!effects,!and!nightly!systems!checks!and!
maintenance.!Students!will!be!backstage!during!performances!to!perform!
microphone!maintenance!and!swaps!between!actors.!Opportunities!in!this!
internship!track!begin!on!or!about!July!1!and!conclude!on!or!about!August!15.!

Electrics:%Students!will!work!with!Park!Playhouses!Lighting!Designer!and!Master!
Electrician!on!rigging!and!focusing!of!instruments,!as!well!as!the!installation!of!the!
electrics!system!at!the!theatre.!Students!will!perform!nightly!equipment!checks!and!
operate!spotlights!or!the!light!board!during!performances.!Opportunities!in!this!
internship!track!begin!on!or!about!June!15!and!conclude!on!or!about!August!15.!

Stage%Management/Production%Assistants:%Students!will!work!with!Park!
Playhouses!Production!Stage!Manager!in!running!rehearsals!and!keeping!track!of!
scheduling!and!cast!operations.!Students!will!be!backstage!during!performances!to!
orchestrate!set!changes!and!assist!in!the!running!of!props,!etc.!Opportunities!in!this!
internship!track!begin!on!or!about!June!1!and!conclude!on!or!about!August!15.!

Production%Assistants%/%Teaching%Artists:%Students!will!work!with!Park!
Playhouses!Director!of!Education,!as!well!as!the!Directors!of!our!Park!Playhouse!II!

and!facilitating!workshops!for!our!youth!education!programs.!Opportunities!in!this!

Box%Office:%Students!will!work!with!the!Box!Office!Manager!at!the!Park!Playhouse!

the!Producing!Artistic!Director!and!Managing!Director!in!a!wide!variety!of!capacities.!

House%Management:%Students!will!work!on;site!in!Washington!Park!with!the!Park!
Supervisor!in!ticket!taking,!seating!of!patrons,!collection!of!donations!and!selling!of!
raffle! tickets.! Students! will! be! responsible! for! maintaining! a! positive! atmosphere!
and!appearance!in!the!theatre!space!and!assist!the!House!Manager!in!providing!an!
accurate!accounting!of!audience!size.!Opportunities!in!this!internship!track!begin!on!
