FRAMEWORK OF PROPOSAL

Title: Parent perceptions on child involvement in sports and their roles on the child
involvement
Hypothesis: Good perceptions lead to good involvement from parents toward their child
sports.
: Good perceptions lead to child sustained and good performance in sports.
Independent variable: i) The parents perception

ii) Parents role

Dependent variable: i) Childs involvement in sports

1) BACKGROUND OF STUDY
-The important of perception in life.
- Parents still have negative perception toward involvement in sports.
> The safety of their children
> will bring negative effect on their childs education
> Sports do not have good prospect future
- Talented child might stop halfway.
> Parents not supportive. Such not giving money for sports activity does not send
their child to training, not fully emotional supportive.
- The important of this research.
> We able to give parent knowledge of the sport beneficence on their child
involvement.
> can decrease social problem especially towards student.
> can run smoothly on the government
> 1 student 1 sport policy
> can produce more national athlete
- Knowing the result on parents perception will lead to solution.
- indicate that: i) good perceptions lead to good involvement from parents toward their child
sports. ii) Good perceptions lead to child sustained and good performance in sports.
- interested in this problem because it happening in real life situation, experience from
friends, student and so on.
- In this research, we can find solution on how to tackle parents heart to encourage or to
support their child involvement in sport.

2) STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

- Parent has wrong perception on sport involvement effect.

> will not support their child to involve in sport
- So when unsupportive parents towards their child involvement in sports.
> will lead to child performance drop.
> Child cannot focus on their training.
> can lead to emotional breakdown.
> will do something else such social problem.
> cant pursue in sports activity because not have enough money for it.
- Talented child in sport stop in halfway. (Due to wrong perception and unsupportive parents
from their parent).
> the decrease of excellent athlete in Malaysia
> the child talent cant be explore and exposed
- It is important to know their perception first before asking them to support their child
involvement.
- Perception is what causes arguments, its what causes relationships and it is what
develops judgment, prejudice and any point of view whatsoever. But what many dont really
understand is that there really is no such a thing as right and wrong, there is only perception.
What you might see as right, many might see as wrong and there is no way you can
convince them otherwise(Waters, 2012).
- So, only by knowing the perception of the parents can help us to find solution for the
problem above.
