The spindle cell components express vimentin and smooth muscle actin on immunostaining.
Although it has a wide spectrum of benign reactive-to
malignant characteristics and the true nature of these
lesions has not been fully elucidated, the expression of
anaplastic lymphoma inase 1 in about 56% of cases
suggests that they may be neoplastic [25, 26].
IMT is most frequently found in the lung [13].

73-year-old woman with secondary lymphoma who had been treated for non-Hodgkin follicular
lymphoma.
A. CT image shows solid mass (diameter, 32 mm) with lobulated margin and ground-glass
opacification component along bronchovascular bundle that resembles primary lung cancer.
B. Specimen image obtained by transbronchial lung biopsy shows marked infiltration of small
cells with cellular atypia. Pulmonary involvement of lymphoma was diagnosed.
