KUKA Laboratories
Committed to a wide range of
technology development areas.
KUKA youBot The Reference
System for Mobile Manipulation.
These projects have received funding from the European Unions Seventh
Framework Programme for research, technological development and
demonstration.

The 5-axis kinematics and two-finger gripper of the

youBot robot arm facilitate the teaching and studying
ofbasic motion and grasp planning.

These projects have been funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

youBots can be easily controlled from an external PC

through open interfaces or from an internal PC. Realtime control is possible through the EtherCAT bus that
seamlessly connects all drives.

Going deeper into mobile manipulation.

The 1-arm system combines the mobile platform and
robot arm into one single package. The EtherCAT bus
enables true mobile manipulation where all joints can
be moved simultaneously along a given trajectory.

The 2-arm system allows more complex manipulation

tasks. By using the EtherCAT bus to connect all drives,
the arms can be coupled for cooperative tasks involving
the handling of increased payloads or larger objects.

The KUKA LBR iiwa A New Era

of Human-Robot Collaboration.

The KUKA LBR Med Visionary

Robotics for Medical Applications.

KUKA Sunrise
The Control System of the Future.

This robotic innovation is the first lightweight robot for

industrial applications. Compliant, precise and extremely agile,
its sensory capabilities enable complex automation tasks.

The KUKA Lightweight Robot Med is sensitive to space and

touch and learns by allowing itself to be guided so it can
then guide humans. The LBR Med is a component for
medical products.

Complex applications made easy.

Object-based motion programming enables the
reduction of complex problems into manageable
bits. Based on main-stream Java Technology, the complete
application can be programmed offline within an Eclipsebased Integrated Development Environment.

The KUKA LBR iiwa has a sensitive touch, feels its way
toward objects, allows itself to be pushed away by people,
and withdraws from them automatically when people touch
it. It is equipped with mechanical systems and drive
technolgy for industrial applications and utmost efficiency.
The LBR iiwa is:
Flexible: Its 7 axes provide human-like motion capabilities.
Sensitive: The torque sensors in each axis enable haptic
solutions.
Safe: It enables innovative cooperation between humans
and machines.
The LBR iiwa is easy to program:
C++, Java or any other code language can be used opening
up new areas of application in the vicinity of humans that
were previously off-limits for robots.

A vast range of potential applications:

Research robot with its open interface
Battery-powered robot on mobile platforms
Assistance in neuro-rehabilitation
Guidance during surgical interventions
Precise positioning of medical devices for diagnostics
and therapy
KUKA Laboratories offers kinematic systems and technologies at the highest level of technical expertise with a maximum commitment to service and consumer orientation.
Robotic technology solutions for:
Radiation therapy (Cyberknife by Accuray)
Angiography technology (Artis zeego by Siemens)
Hippotherapy (hirob by intelligent motion)
P
atient positioning (exacure by BEC Engineering)
Research on rehabilitation, biopsy and laser osteotomy

KUKA Sunrise.Connectivity
High-Level Sensor Integration.
Combining sensor technology and motion.
Sensor integration is made easy through our
standardized interfaces, enabling the implementation of, for example, visual servoing and haptic
rendering applications. It is possible to directly influence
the robot path from the robot application context.
With KUKA Sunrise.Connectivity you can realize hard realtime and deterministic tasks by using our deterministic
open remote interface to expand your possibilities.
