SESSION 9 & 10
Hi everyone,
Ive been in Paris for over a week now and Im having a great time. In the first
few days I did quite a lot of sightseeing the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and all the
usual tourist attractions. Most places are absolutely packed with tourists, so
yesterday I decided to have a look round the shops.
Today I have been to a couple of interesting art galleries. I got lost on my way
back to the hotel, but I didnt matter because I discovered a really fascinating
market with lots of little stalls, selling just about everything from apples to antiques.
I ate in the hotel the first night but usually I go out for dinner the
restaurants are great and I can get a set meal for less than 25 Euros. Im afraid Ive
spent a lot of money, but its a great place. Youll be able to see for yourself when I
get back- Ive taken a lot of pictures.
I hope you are all well. Ill write again next week.
Love, Emma

Shes telephoned three times this morning.
(b) the indefinite past: referring to the past with no definite time. It is connected to the present in some
way, and is often used in the following situations:
describing something that happened in the past, when the result can be seen in the present:
Hes painted his house.
Someones taken my wallet.
Shes bought a new car.
- describing something that happened recently, often when giving news:
Two men have escaped from prison in London.

- with certain words (just, yet, already)
Hes just gone out.
Ive already told her.
Have you done your homework yet?
- describing personal experience
