Mediatrix with PF & Cisco ME3400

Overview:

Mediatrix will be used to provide voice service instead of Tilgin CPE as a temporary
solution.

There will mainly four scenarios:

- Packet Front ASR with voice service only

- Packet Front ASR with triple play service
- Cisco ME3400 with Voice.
- Cisco ME3400 with triple play service.

There will two different way of installation:

- One or More Mediatrix per IDF for the Cisco ME Customers.

- One Mediatrix per Customer installed in the ACP for PF Customers.

Solution Pre-requisite:

- All BECS2/3 voice services need to be updated by adding the prefix of

the Mediatrix MAC address.( to be done by Tier-3 Access)
- Maintain a list of the Customer including their port details using these
temporary solution

Mediatrix Solution Options:

A- PF ASR with voice service only:

1- Mediatrix to be installed in the customer ACP.

2- Allocate one port on PF ASR.
3- Configure the voice service (Assuming that BECS voice service has
been updated).
4- Connect the Mediatrix to the allocated port in the AR
5- Once the Mediatrix gets an IP, Push the required configuration for the
Mediatrix to assign phone number to the customer. (Use Port # 1).
6- Activate the service on the Softswitch.
7- RJ-11 is required to terminate the cat3 twisted pair. (Blue-White) (If
it’s 24-Port Mediatrix; otherwise use normal RJ-11 to RJ-11 CAT3 patch
cord).

B- PF ASR with triply services:

1- Mediatrix to be installed in the customer ACP.

2- Allocate one port on PF ASR.
3- Configure the triple play service as per WO (Assuming that BECS
voice service has been updated).
4- Connect port 24 from 3COM to the assigned PF ASR.

 5- Don’t use the Port 1 from the 3COM for any services.
6- Connect Mediatrix to any port from 2 -23
7- Provide Internet & IPTV service from any port from 2- 23
8- Once the Mediatrix gets an IP, Push the required configuration for the
Mediatrix to assign phone number to the customer. (Use Port # 1).
9- Activate the service on the Softswitch.
10- RJ-11 is required to terminate the cat3 twisted pair. (Blue-White) (If
it’s 24-Port Mediatrix; otherwise use normal RJ-11 to RJ-11 CAT3 patch
cord).

C- Cisco ME3400 with Voice:

1- Mediatrix will be installed in the IDF and it will serve multiple

customers.
2- Allocate one port on Cisco ME3400. (preferred 24)
3- Configure the port with Voice vlan 3604; as per the below
configuration.
4- Once the Mediatrix gets an IP, Push the required configuration for the
Mediatrix to assign phone number to the customer.

D- Cisco ME3400 with Voice:

1- Mediatrix to be installed in the customer ACP.

2- Allocate one port on Cisco ME3400. (preferred 24)
3- Allocate different ports on Cisco ME3400 for each service.
4- Configure the port connected to Mediatrix with Voice vlan 3604; as
per the below configuration.
5- Once the Mediatrix gets an IP, Push the required configuration for the
Mediatrix to assign phone number to the customer.
6- Configure the other services as per the provisioning guideline provided
earlier.

Test already done successfully and all service were working smoothly.

Mediatrix Usage strategy:

- Preferred to Use 2 & 4 Port type Mediatrix for PF Customers where

there will be one Mediatrix per customer; starting with the 2 port Mediatrix.
- Preferred to Use 16 & 8 Port type Mediatrix for Cisco ME Customers
where there will be one or more Mediatrix per IDF. Starting with the 16 port
Mediatrix.
