Settings guide

There are two methods to setup Pst Backup 2013:

Manually, through the UI interface.

Via GPO. You should prefer this method for large deployment.

1. List of all PST files that are connected to this Outlook session. Checked lines show
PST files that will be saved. Uncheck a line to remove the PST file from the future
backup. If the destination folder doesnt exist, it will be create.
2. The destination folder where to save the selected PST file. You can have one folder
by PST file or define the same folder. If this field is empty, field N5 must be filled,
otherwise, the Apply button will be gray out.
3. Use this option to compress PST files when they are saving. It can be compressed
up to 50%, and dont take much more time (+10~15%) than if you save it
uncompressed.
4. Give a destination folder for PST files that will be creating by the user in the future.
Newly created PST files will be automatically added to the backup plan. If field N2
is empty for one or more PST files list in field N1, this destination folder will be
used. You can use the variable %WindowsLogin% as a folder name, to create a
folder by user.

1. Use this option to display a logo while the backup is performed. Use Default Logo to display
the default logo as shown on the screen capture. Otherwise, you can specify the full path to
an image. For example: C:\Temp\Pst Backup 2013.png
You should avoid using an image hosted on a remote server. Prefer to deploy this image
locally while installing the software.
2. Use this option to avoid saving PST files through a slow network link. Once this option is
active, backups will occur only if the computer is in the same subnet than the destination or
if the computer is in the same subnet than one provided.

PST Backup 2013 Documentation

Examples:

Computers A, B and C are in the same subnet than the file server. They will be allowed to save their
PST files to the file server.
Computer D is on a remote site and needs to go through a WAN link to save its PST files. If you use
the option Dont backup if the destination is not on the same subnet, then, Computer D will not
be allowed to save its PST files. Backups will be postponed until the computer comes back to the
headquarter.

PST Backup 2013 Documentation

Computer D is not in the same subnet than the File Server. To allow Computer D to save its PST files
to the File Server, you will need to add 192.168.254.0/24 to the list of additional subnets.
