(a) As a consultant, you have been hired to give recommendation on choosing a plant
location for a sugar plant factory in Malaysia. What are the factors that you will
have to consider while proposing the plant location?

(b) It is generally felt that rural areas are good for locating large plant and urban areas
for small scale plant, please provide your comment on this issue.

(c) Please give your analysis on what are the significant factors that make Segamat to

You are appointed as a plant designer by a multi national company. Choose any of
your preferred plant and do the following tasks

(a) Draw a complete flow process diagram which indicates the incoming raw materials
and the output products. Your flow diagram must be properly labeled with the
equipment number and the key processes in manufacturing products
(20 marks)

(b) Produce a complete layout of your selected plant. The layout shall consist of the
main manufacturing area of the plant, offices, auxiliary services and etc. Please
state your justification on your chosen method or layout. Evaluate the strengths and
advantages of your chosen layout.
(30 marks)
