The Faculty of Medicine underwent an accreditation visit this past February 2015 by a survey team of the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS). Upon receiving the preliminary
findings, the Dean of Medicine immediately mandated a Task Force to work on identifying actions to address the issues ascertained by the surveyors. This document represents a preliminary framework of
actions developed by that Task Force and highlights some of the strategies the Faculty will use to correct accreditation issues. CACMS provided their final report to the Faculty on June 15, 2015, clearly
identifying standards that were in compliance with need for monitoring and standards for which we were in noncompliance. The Faculty will be developing a significantly more detailed Action Plan which is due
to CACMS by December 2015. Tasks already completed are indicated in grey lettering with a check mark. In addition to these actions, the Dean of Medicine will be mandating an external review of our
undergraduate medical education program to ensure optimal implementation of the new curriculum.

ED-2. An institution that offers a medical
education program must have in place a system
with central oversight to ensure that the faculty
define the types of patients and clinical
conditions that medical students must
encounter, the appropriate clinical setting for
the educational experiences, and the expected
level of medical student responsibility. The
faculty must monitor medical student
experiences and modify them as necessary to
