Dear Minister Ambrose:

I am writing to express my disappointment over the Royal Society report on Safety Code 6. As
part of the public consultation, I volunteered my time to submit my opinion to the Expert Panel. I
am attaching the letter submitted to the Expert Panel and welcome your comments as it appears
the Panel did not adequately address the points I raised.
Health Canada's commitment to consult with the public before finalizing its update for Safety
Code 6 is encouraging. I trust that lessons are learned from the Royal Society process and that
Health Canada follows international best practices around transparency in the evaluation of all
of the scientific evidence. I was one of several authors of a thorough 365 page document written
in response to the Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks
(SCENIHR) 2013 report entitled Preliminary Opinion on Potential Health Effects of
Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields (EMF).
I am requesting the opportunity to present this point of view to Health Canada at the appropriate
time. Please provide me with the information on how I can best do this.
Yours sincerely,

David O. Carpenter, M.D
