Pirates'lasttriptostatein2013,whenthePirateswere
theClass1AstaterunnersuptoMilledgeville.
Cumberlandgotnewgrayjerseysthisseason,butthey
dustedoffthethrowbacksandhavefoundthemselves
backintheSweet16.

played.Shesaidthecontestcouldhavegoneeitherwayandtheydidn'tplaythewaytheyknowhow.
That'snotourgame,shesaid.Iwasn'thappywiththatatall.
St.Anthonysetthetoneearlyandopenedthescoringwitharuninthetopofthefirsttotakethefirst
leadofthegame.
Cumberlandansweredwithfourrunsofitsownandtookacommanding41leadafterone.
AudreyCaseystartedtherallywithaoneoutsingle.CaseyscoredafterCarlenreachedonanerror
andTaylorLaytonaddedanRBIsinglebeforeLaineyJacksonhadabigtwooutsingletoscoretwo
runs.
ThePiratesaddedonetotakea51leadgoingintothethirdinning.Cumberlandtookaturnafterthe
thirdandcouldn'tgetanythinggoingattheplatethenextfewinnings.

St.AnthonycoachCrystalTiptonsaidNuxollisgoodinthosesituationbecauseshedoesn'tthink,she
justreacts.
