Heard from a potential client about a rqmt for AS9121 to auditing resellers and distys
under AS9120A.
Is this std still in vogue?

It's not as exciting a topic as arguing over the "exact definition of quality" or the correct application
of 7.5.1.4.

@Larry,
Leon
AS9121 was obsoleted back on 30 June 2011.
Since 1 July 2011 all AS9120 audits are done to rev A of that standard which means that AS9101
is the applicable standard against which they are assessed.
Perhaps they have just not kept up to date or they have been given bad advice

Hi Leon. The SAE website shows 9121 as being obsoleted. My connection at SAE confirmed
it...but there was a soft-shoe reason from the SAE internal committee on how the stds realigned
afterwards. AS9120A audits now comply with AS9101E.
I'm not certain why the other party is insisting on AS9121. It's an aerospace prime...but that still
doesn't compute with using an obsoleted std for auditing resellers/distys.
Thanks.

Larry,
The company will be audited against AS9120 requirements by a CB complying with AS9101D.
If the prime wants AS9121 to be used then they can specify that in a contract but it will be
additional to the above and will not appear in the OASIS record of that audit.
AS9101D is still the current version because the 9101E implementation has not yet been
determined by IAQG.
In any case AS9121 is dead and buried.
