GE Aviation

GE Aviation is a world-leading provider of jet and turboprop engines, components

and integrated systems for commercial, military, business and general aviation and
has a global service network to support these offerings. GE Aviation also supplies
engines for marine applications.
Commercial Engines
GE Aviations commercial jet engines power a wide variety of airframes. These
engines lead the industry in their respective thrust classes and have set the standards
in terms of reliability, maintainability, and cost of ownership.
GEs CF6-50 engine began operating on Indian Airlines Airbus A300 fleet almost 30
years ago, and this was followed by orders from Air Indian for CF6-80C2 engines to
power its A310 aircraft. Other Indian airlines, including Jet Airways, SpiceJet and
GoAir, have also selected GE and CFM** engines for their growing fleet. More than
450 GE and CFM engines are in service in India with an additional 300 engines on
order with local carriers.
GE Aviation offers OnPoint solution agreements for the maintenance, repair and
overhaul of its engines. Air India and GE are working together to set up a local MRO
facility to support the GE90, GEnx and CFM56 engine lines. This arrangement will
enable the state carrier to offer OEM material and repair. CFM has established a
training school in Hyderabad to provide engine training solutions to customers in the
region.
Military Engines
GE's military engines provide the power and reliability for many military
applications. GE supplies F404 engines for the Light Combat Aircraft-Tejas, which
recently achieved Initial Operation Clearance. In 2010, the F414-INS6 engines were
selected to power the MkII version of the Light Combat Aircraft-Tejas. GEs CT7-8
engines will power the Indian Air Forces VVIP squadron of AW101, while CFM56
engines will power the Indian Navys P-8I.
Marine Engines
GE entered into a Manufacturing License Technical Assistance Agreement with
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in 1986 for the LM2500 marine gas turbines to
support the propulsion requirements at local shipyards. The company has also
supported HAL in the establishment of a dedicated test cell in Bangalore for the
assembly, inspection and testing for LM2500s. These LM2500 GT propulsion
modules are for the Indian Navys P-17 Stealth Frigates program and the P-71
Indigenous Aircraft Carrier Program.

commercial aircraft, combat aircraft, military transport, helicopters, land vehicles and
unmanned aerial vehicles. GE's systems portfolio covers integrated avionics and
