GEO TEAM - Investigation
18-Jan-13
Based from the site inspection last November 20 to December 5, 2012 conducted by Project Technical Support Team, there is a need to
conduct a soil investigation and geo-mechanics testing on the proposed location of structures to verify the calculation of the Soil Bearing
Capacity, Settlement, to re-evaluate the Slope Stability Analysis and to conduct Geophysical Survey. To validate the soil parameters it is
recommended to extract samples required for geo-mechanics testing by conducting Boreholes and Test Pits on/near the proposed
structures. Below is the summary of the require geotechnical testing for feasibility study.

I. Test Location
Manolo Fortich 1 (MF1) HEP
MF1 project has three (3) weirs located at Tanaon, Guihian and Upper Amusig. Its powerhouse is to be located at Lower Amusig. The
water will be conveyed through ridges of the area using steel pipes. The outcrop for these locations is predominantly metamorphic rock
called quartz SCHIST. For these structures the team requires a total of 24 borehole tests and 18 trial pits. This will aid in identifying
bedrock level, discover weak or soft layers within the zone of interest and estimating the stiffness of the material.
Manolo Fortich 2 (MF2) HEP
MF2 scheme, on the other hand, has only one weir which will be situated at Lower Amusig. Its powerhouse will be located at Dalirig. The
5600 meters long tunnel line will pass through an outcrop of predominantly Sandstone and Limestone. The team will be requiring at
least nine (9) borehole tests and six (6) test pits for sampling and testing.

NOTE: Detailed Topographic survey is requested in the slope of the proposed test location for "In-house Slope Stability Analysis". The
Geo Team is capable of conducting the trial pit testing to determine the Unconfined Compressive Strength, Cohesion, Moisture
Content and Unit Weight. Trial pit can be terminated once a bedrock formation is encountered.
